Netflix's rudely axed Mindhunter could be returning with a twist
Almost six years ago, fans of the Netflix series Mindhunter were left devastated after it was axed after only two seasons. Now, the true crime series, which explored the psychology behind serial killers, could be getting a Hollywood makeover for a film revival. There is a potential to bring back the show as not only one movie but an entire trilogy, with creator David Fincher carefully vetting the scripts. Holt McCallany, who starred as FBI special agent Bill Tench, recently spoke to the Fight Club director, and it's looking up for fans. 'I had a meeting with David Fincher in his office a few months ago, and he said to me that there is a chance that it may come back as three two-hour movies, but I think it's just a chance,' he told CBR. 'I know there are writers that are working, but you know, David has to be happy with scripts.' To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video It's unknown if the plan is to see the return of Holt and co-star Jonathan Groff, who played key figure Holden Ford. However, Holt is more than happy to return as he added: 'I felt very fortunate and privileged to have gotten to do that show at all. I would love it if it were to return. 'I think, like I said, you know, he gave me a little bit of hope when I had that meeting with him, but the sun, the moon, and the stars would all have to align.' Mindhunter was based on the 1995 book Mindhunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit by John E. Douglas and Mark Olshaker. It drew inspiration from the real FBI agents working to pioneer modern serial-killer profiling in the 70s, with real interviews with murderers re-enacted. Infamous killers like Ed Kemper, Richard Speck, Dennis Rader (known as BTK), and Charles Manson all featured in the show. The first episode dropped on October 13, 2017, and became an instant hit, totalling two seasons and 19 episodes. It was nominated for multiple Emmys, and Doctor Who star Jonathan was awarded best actor at the Satellite Awards in 2018. When the show was brutally axed after the second season, despite rave reviews, fans were furious. More Trending David explained to Vulture at the time: 'It's a 90-hour workweek. It absorbs everything in your life. When I got done, I was pretty exhausted, and I said, 'I don't know if I have it in me right now to break season three'.' He added: 'Listen, for the viewership that it had, it was a very expensive show.' Over 10,000 fans signed a petition for a third season to be created, but nothing ever came of the viewers' pleas for a return. Mindhunter seasons one and two are available to stream on Netflix . Brad Pitt's Sci-Fi Film Roles, Ranked
From '12 Monkeys' and 'Fight Club,' to 'Benjamin Button,' 'Joe Black,' and others, here's our list. Next week, one of our biggest movie stars hits theaters in one of the summer's biggest movies. F1: The Movie, starring Brad Pitt, is out June 27 and it's the kind of role only someone as huge as Pitt could play. Pitt has been one of the top movie stars in the world for decades. Rising to stardom in the early 1990s, he quickly jumped to leading man status and has never looked back since. Pitt has had an incredibly varied career, making films in seemingly every genre imaginable. He's been in romances, fantasy epics, crime thrillers, sports movies, you name it. He's also made more than a few sci-fi films, which is our specialty here on io9. So, with Pitt on the mind thanks to his latest (decidedly non-sci-fi) movie coming out, here are our rankings of Brad Pitt's sci-fi roles. But, first, a clarification. As we said, Pitt has made a lot of movies, many of which straddle the line between genres. Just so you aren't reading this article all day, we decided to be a little more strict in our classifications. So, for example, many of Pitt's roles are almost on the edge of genre. Crime movies with spy elements, non-fiction characters in fantasy stories, and hyper-realistic settings. All of which kind of fit io9, but won't be considered here. That includes Spy Game, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Inglourious Basterds, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, The Tree of Life, The Lost City, and Bullet Train. We've also decided not to count a few of Pitt's films that are very much genre, but lack sci-fi elements. That takes Seven and Troy off the list. So, what's on it? Here we go. 9. Deadpool 2 Pitt's blink and you'll miss it cameo as Vanisher, one of the members of X-Force, is absolutely hilarious but not big enough to rank highly here. 8. Meet Joe Black In Meet Joe Black, Pitt plays the personification of Death, who then learns to live and love. It's a strong, memorable, stoic performance in a rather dull movie. Not Pitt's fault and not a terrible movie, merely lacking in comparison to some of his other work. 7. Cool World One of Pitt's earliest noteworthy starring roles sees him as the hard-nosed detective of a cartoon world. It's a fun movie with a solid performance. 6. World War Z In a case of the movie being better than the performance, Pitt plays the lead in this story of a global zombie outbreak. It's a solid movie with lots of action and effects, which forced Pitt into a by-the-book performance. It's not his best work, but the scope of the movie brings it up a notch. 5. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button Playing a man who ages in reverse, this big, bold production is maybe a little bit too much. Pitt is amazing in it though, using visual effects to really give us a fully formed, wild performance… in a just okay movie. 4. Ad Astra Just because, compared to several of these other films, it's a little underrated, we're putting Ad Astra higher than most would expect. Pitt plays an astronaut who travels deep into space looking for his lost father in a poignant, exciting film with a nuanced lead performance. 3. Fight Club Shock of shocks! Fight Club might be our favorite movie of the bunch but, we're talking Brad Pitt roles. And as incredible as Pitt is as the unforgettable Tyler Durden, it really is a two-hander of a movie with Edward Norton, which just meant we ranked it a tiny bit lower. 2. Interview with the Vampire As the eternal vampire Louis, Pitt shared the screen of this 1994 film with Tom Cruise, making up one of the most beautiful casts of the era. And it's saying something that when paired up with a star as big as Cruise at the time, Pitt's charisma and talent may just overshadow him. 1. 12 Monkeys Pitt received his first Oscar nomation for his role in this film, a twisty, turny, sci-fi mindfuck from director Terry Gilliam. It's not the biggest role, but damned if it isn't unforgettable as Pitt just seems to be having the most fun he's ever had on screen.

Brad Pitt is set to return to the screens as Sonny Hayes in his upcoming movie, F1. The actor will be donning the suit of a professional racer while starring alongside Damson Idris in the Joseph Kosinski directorial. Ahead of the big release, Pitt exclusively revealed to Pinkvilla that he had the "most visceral driving experience" while shooting for the film at the real race locations. Moreover, the Wolfs actor went on to share that F1 is made for the ardent fans of the sport, as well as for the audience who do not follow races at all. He described the film as 'entertaining on many levels.' Brad Pitt's adrenaline rush was at its peak while filming for F1 Brad Pitt and Damson Idris drove alongside the real F1 drivers for the film. Speaking of his experience, the Fight Club star revealed to us that he has no idea how he, along with the makers of the film, got away with driving the race cars at top speed at the Grand Prix. 'I still don't know how we got away with it,' said the Oscar-winning actor about 'the most visceral driving experience that's ever been put on film.' Pitt further explained, 'The forces in these cars—the high-speed corners—the physics of it all want to rip your head from your shoulders. It's shocking what these cars can do—and it's a high unlike any high I've ever experienced before. We just couldn't capture it any other way.' The actor also spoke about how the movie will be approached by different types of audiences. He shared, 'Threading that needle was the biggest challenge, but I think we've done that—made it enlightening enough and understandable for newcomers without dumbing it down for ultra fans.' The actor, who is currently dating Ines de Ramon, continued to say, 'It's funny, it's aggressive, it's driving, and it's surprisingly heartwarming. I love all these characters. I think this film is so damn entertaining on so many levels.' What is F1: The Movie about? F1 opens in theaters on June 27, 2025.

Ines de Ramon Supports Brad Pitt's New Film as They Dazzle in a Rare Red Carpet Appearance
Ines de Ramon is showing up — and showing out — for her boyfriend, Brad Pitt, as she accompanied him on the red carpet for his newest film. On Monday, June 16, the actor and the jewelry executive attended the New York City premiere of F1, the upcoming sports drama film in which the Fight Club actor, 61, stars. The couple shined as they posed for photos on the red carpet. De Ramon, 32, donned a white halter-style top that showcased her midriff, paired with a matching maxi skirt and a Chanel purse. She opted to style her hair in a bun with pieces left loose in front. The Academy Award winner, for his part, wore a navy blue suit with a black lapel and light pink pocket square and rocked his buzzed haircut. A source told Star last month that Pitt is 'giving her [de Ramon] full access to his style team — designers, jewelers, hair and makeup,' adding, 'She may not really know what she's getting into, but Brad wants her with him every step of the way.' While on the carpet, Pitt was asked by Entertainment Tonight whether he had converted the Swiss-educated de Ramon into a Formula 1 racing fan — and it turns out he didn't have to. 'Well, she's European, so she already had a taste,' Pitt remarked. De Ramon and Pitt, who made their red carpet debut at the Venice Film Festival last year, have been out and about in the Big Apple recently. On Friday, June 13, they joined Bradley Cooper and Gigi Hadid for a double date at Cote Korean Steakhouse for dinner. A separate source gave insight into Pitt and de Ramon's relationship last month, telling Star, 'Brad's very happy with Ines, and this even-keeled, go-with-the-flow-type vibe is so refreshing. They're an extremely calm couple and not overly intense or high-strung.' Pitt was, of course, famously married to Angelina Jolie from 2014 until the Maleficent actress, 50, filed for divorce in 2016. The pair share six children: Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 19, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16. As for de Ramon, she tied the knot with The Vampire Diaries alum Paul Wesley in 2019, but the pair separated in 2022 and finalized their divorce in 2024. Pitt shared some words of wisdom last week with Entertainment Tonight at the F1 premiere in Mexico City. 'I think you get to my age and see how important it is to surround yourself with the people you know, the people you love, the people that love you back. Friends, family, and that's it,' he said. 'From there, we get to go make things. So it's a pretty simple, I think, equation.'
