Kyrgios won't play at Wimbledon due to ‘small setback'
Nick Kyrgios will not play at Wimbledon after experiencing a 'small setback' as he recovers from a knee injury. 'I've hit a small setback in my recovery and unfortunately won't make it back for grass season this year,' Kyrgios posted on social media Tuesday. 'I know how much you've been looking forward to seeing me out there and I'm genuinely sorry to disappoint. This is just a bump in the road though and I'm already working hard to get back stronger than ever.' The Wimbledon runner-up in 2022 to Novak Djokovic, Kyrgios has dealt with knee and wrist injuries requiring surgery over the past two years. Kyrgios, 30, is 1-4 in singles matches this year, last playing in mid-March at the Miami Open where he lost in the first round, 7-6 (3), 6-0, to Karen Khachanov of Russia. Earlier in March, he retired from his BNP Paribas Open first-round match against the Netherlands' Botic van de Zandschulp. He also suffered a first-round loss at his home country's Australian Open in January. Field Level Media 2025 - All Rights Reserved

Aryna Sabalenka halts Iga Swiatek's run to reach French final
Top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka ended Iga Swiatek's run of dominance at the French Open, denying the latter's bid for a fourth straight title at Roland Garros on Thursday. A three-time Grand Slam champion, Sabalenka snapped the fifth-seeded Poland native's 26-match French Open winning streak with a 7-6 (1), 4-6, 6-0 decision in Paris. The 27-year-old from Belarus dispatched Swiatek in 2 hours and 19 minutes to become the first woman to reach the singles final in three consecutive Grand Slam events since Serena Williams (2016). Sabalenka will look to win her first French Open title Saturday. She will meet No. 2 seed Coco Gauff, who brought 361st-ranked French wild-card Lois Boisson's fairytale run to an end with a swift 6-1, 6-2 triumph in Thursday's other semifinal. 'Honestly, it feels incredible, but I understand the job is not done yet. I'm just thrilled today with this win and the atmosphere,' Sabalenka said. 'She's the toughest opponent, especially on clay, especially at Roland Garros. It was a tough match, it was a tricky match, but I managed.' Sabalenka took advantage of 12 unforced errors by Swiatek in the decisive third set. 'It could not be more perfect than that,' Sabalenka said. 'I'm super proud right now. I'm glad I found my serve.' Swiatek won her first French Open in 2020 before claiming the trophies in 2022, 2023 and 2024. She also won a bronze medal at Roland Garros in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Her French Open record is 40-3. Sabalenka and Gauff have split their 10 previous meetings. It will be the first time a World No. 1 and No. 2 have met in a Grand Slam final since the 2018 Australian Open, where Caroline Wozniacki defeated Simona Halep. Gauff, 21, who lost to Swiatek in the 2022 final, returned to the championship round in convincing fashion. She saved four of five break points and took advantage of Boisson's 33 unforced errors (compared to eight winners) to advance in just 72 minutes. 'Obviously there's still a lot of work to do, but for now I'll enjoy this one and then prepare for the final tomorrow,' said Gauff, the 2023 U.S. Open champion who is looking for her second major title. Boisson, 22, was trying to become the first Frenchwoman to win the French Open since Mary Pierce in 2000. Field Level Media 2025 - All Rights Reserved

Roger Goodell: USA Football will select Olympic flag football rosters, not NFL
While the NFL has approved active players to participate in the 2028 Summer Olympic flag football tournament in Los Angeles, commissioner Roger Goodell made it clear that the NFL will not determine which players will compete for the United States. Rather, Goodell said during last week's meeting of league owners, the roster selection will come down to a separate group: USA Football. 'That's actually a function of USA Football that will be making that decision,' Goodell said. 'The NFL will not have any involvement in that selection process.' According to USA Football bylaws, Goodell will appoint three individuals to the 15-member board with at least two of them serving on the five-person executive committee. This all comes just a few days after NFL owners unanimously voting in favor of allowing active players to compete in flag football at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. No more than one player from each NFL team will be able to participate in the games, which will feature six men's teams and six women's teams consisting of 10 players apiece. 'I know first-hand that the inclusion of flag football in the Olympics has sparked a tremendous amount of excitement among NFL players interested in the chance to compete for their country on the world stage,' Goodell said at the time. 'We are thrilled that they will now have that chance.' The 2028 Summer Games are scheduled to take place from July 14-30, 2028. NFL players generally are off from mid-June until the start of training camp in late July. Field Level Media 2025 - All Rights Reserved

It was unclear Sunday whether Hayes was a driver or a passenger and which car he was traveling in. University officials have not commented on the crash or the extent of Hayes' injuries. Hayes played in 12 games as a freshman in the 2024 season, primarily on special teams. He had four tackles and one interception. Brian Harman holds onto lead at Valero Texas Open
Brian Harman was fortunate to be in a good spot when the third round of the Valero Texas Open began. Harman recovered from a shaky start on the way to an even-par 72 on Saturday to carry three-stroke at windy TPC San Antonio's Oaks Course in San Antonio. 'When you get around this place and the wind blows and the pins are tucked, it's just a really hard day,' Harman said. Harman, who's at 12 under for the tournament, wavered at times after entering the day with a four-shot edge, but came through enough as several contenders stalled in their pursuits. 'Leaning on my short game today, chipped it in there close a few times,' Harman said. 'The stat sheet won't say it, but I made some solid par putts.' Andrew Novak shot 69 to move to 9 under in second place. Tom Hoge (68) is in third at 8 under and Kevin Mitchell (73) is fourth at 7 under. Hoge and others did enough to make up ground on Harman, who leads through 54 holes for the fifth time in his career on the PGA Tour. Not all the golfers held it together. Sam Ryder was in the final group Saturday, but his 77 sent him tumbling to 2 under for the tournament and tied for 28th place. Mitchell's decline wasn't as severe on a day when only two golfers (Hoge and Novak) kept their scores under 70. 'You were just trying to find a green, trying to find a way to just stop the ball,' Mitchell said. 'Just wish I was a little closer to Brian. He made two birdies coming in. Still got a chance.' Chad Ramey (70), Finland's Sami Valimaki (70) and Japan's Ryo Hisatsune (73) all share fifth place at 6 under. Harman had bogeys on two of the first four holes. Birdies on Nos. 14 and 17 got him on track. Yet, the late-round challenges included needing to scramble for par on the par-3 16th hole after his tee shot was in the fringe rough. Canada's Corey Conners, a two-time winner of the tournament, had worked himself into contention before a disastrous stretch. He began on the backside and chipped in for eagle on No. 17, sharing third place on the leaderboard. But Conners played his last two holes in 3 over, with a double-bogey 6 on No. 9.
