Alligator named Ferdinand recovered during eviction process at Philadelphia home

An alligator is safe in an animal shelter after it was recovered from a Philadelphia home during an eviction. ACCT Philly says the alligator, originally named "Chompy," was in a home on the 2500 block of Cumberland Street. Workers were able to get him out of the house, and he is now headed to a rescue in Florida. The gator's name has been changed to Ferdinand. A Husky named Gia was also recovered from the home. ACCT Philly says they've seen an unusually high number of exotic animals this week, including a blue-tongued skink, a pheasant and two quail.

Chelsea leave Rio Ferdinand dumbstruck as he makes Todd Boehly thoughts clear

Rio Ferdinand has been left stunned by the financial state of Chelsea under Todd Boehly after a Premier League profitability and sustainability rules list emerged Ex-Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has expressed his surprise at Chelsea topping a list ranking the healthiest Premier League clubs based on profitability and sustainability rules (PSR). On his podcast, Rio Reacts, the former England star was taken aback to see the Blues firmly positioned at the top with £300 million banked in sales despite their substantial spending under Todd Boehly. The Blues have shelled out more than £1.1billion over the past three years, consistently leading the Premier League's spending charts. Despite this, they have managed to steer clear of PSR violations. ‌ In conversation with football finance expert Kieran Maguire, Ferdinand couldn't conceal his astonishment. "I've got a list of the healthiest PSR clubs. Chelsea? How the hell are Chelsea top, please, with £300m?" Ferdinand queried. ‌ Under the current regulations, Premier League clubs are prohibited from having losses exceeding £105m over a three-year period. Maguire elucidated how the Blues are actually exploiting a notorious loophole provided by the Premier League. "In terms of Chelsea, having this £300m - £200m of that comes from selling the women's team to themselves, and another £70m, or £60-£70m, comes from selling a couple of car parks to themselves as well," Maguire explained. "Without that, Chelsea would be in a really tricky position." When questioned about the legality of such dealings, Maguire confirmed it was above board, stating: "It's in the Premier League rules. The Premier League had the opportunity to close that loophole last week and the club owners decided they quite liked it as it seems a 'get out of jail free' card that Chelsea have used and perhaps other clubs might say we want to use that as well." It's thought that Chelsea eased their financial concerns using this very loophole. The club's accounts, released in April 2024, revealed an astonishing loss of £89.9m in the previous financial year. However, without their shrewd sale of two hotels from Chelsea FC Holdings Ltd to Blueco 22 Properties Ltd, which brought in £76.5m, that figure would have been a whopping £166.4m. Both companies are subsidiaries of Chelsea's parent company, Blueco 22 Ltd. ‌ Despite the scrutiny of Chelsea's spending since Boehly's takeover, they have consistently adhered to financial regulations. They've also raked in nearly £500m from player sales, a fact that Ferdinand was quick to commend Boehly for. "You've got to give it to Chelsea, yeah," He said. "Their owners have come in, they've created a new model right, everyone laughed at them, everyone ridiculed them, said, 'There's no chance they're going to finish anywhere, if you were a player you'd never sign for Chelsea'. "They've swept up some of the best talents in the world. They've gone full throttle with it and backed themselves, and then found a few loopholes, that some people are turning their nose up at, but if there's a loophole there to be had, it's there to be had, and they've exploited that and that's the Premier League's doing, not theirs. "They've seen it, gone for it and then used it to their own benefit. Their model in terms of selling players, I don't think it can be beaten at the minute - them and City probably."

Man Utd told dream striker signing is 'waiting for them' after Gyokeres twist

Manchester United won't be able to offer European football to any of their attacking targets but Rio Ferdinand still believes there's an outstanding candidate waiting for an offer Former Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand believes Victor Osimhen is waiting for the club to move to the front of the queue for his signing. The Nigeria international spent last season on loan at Galatasaray, with parent club Napoli thought to be ready to cash in this summer. Ferdinand's claims come amid suggestions fellow target Viktor Gyokeres would favour a move to a club in the Champions League. Gyokeres starred under United head coach Ruben Amorim at Sporting CP, where he still plays his club football, but a reunion might not be entirely straightforward. ‌ Gyokeres was also high on Arsenal's shopping list, with the Gunners deciding between him and Benjamin Sesko. Now, according to reports in Germany, Mikel Arteta's side have reached an agreement with Sesko - though they are yet to meet RB Leipzig's valuation of the Slovenian. ‌ United have already bolstered their attacking ranks this summer with a £62.5million swoop for Wolves ' Matheus Cunha. Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo has also been linked, despite United - unlike fellow suitors Spurs - being unable to offer Champions League football. Osimhen, who scored 37 goals in 41 Galatasaray games last season, has also been of interest to Saudi club Al Hilal. The 26-year-old is believed to favour a move to a European club, though, and Ferdinand has made his position clear. "No.9, they already know who I want," Ferdinand said on Rio Ferdinand Presents when discussing United's options. "The comments know, the people know who I want, who I would go and get: Osimhen! "It looks like he's turned down Al Hilal… he must be waiting for Man United. I don't know if Man United are going to come. That's the problem." Ferdinand suggested he'd be happy with Gyokeres at Old Trafford if Osimhen doesn't arrive. Juventus have also been linked with the Swede, who fired Sporting to the Primeira Liga title last season, but Arsenal are believed to have put an approach of their own on ice. ‌ Arsenal 's pursuit of Sesko comes after Leipzig failed to qualify for the Champions League, leaving them prepared to cash in for the right price. That price is still north of £60m, though, and Arsenal aren't yet on the same page as the selling club. Sesko was heavily linked with Arsenal last summer, and his decision to sign a new contract in 2024 hasn't slowed down the London club's pursuit. If they miss out on the former Red Bull Salzburg man, though, they could yet return for another former target in Aston Villa and England star Ollie Watkins.

Rio Ferdinand claims £64m striker is 'waiting' for Man Utd transfer offer

Rio Ferdinand believes Victor Osimhen could be 'waiting' for a call from Manchester United after turning down a lucrative transfer move to the Saudi Pro League. United wrapped up their first piece of summer transfer business as they completed a £62.5million deal with Wolves for Matheus Cunha last month. Bryan Mbeumo has been been heavily linked in recent days on the back of an outstanding season with Brentford and is said to be eager to push through a switch to Old Trafford, despite strong interest from Tottenham. Signing an out-and-out centre-forward remains an absolute priority on the back of an immensely disappointing campaign for both Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund, who managed a combined total of just seven goals in the Premier League last term. While Viktor Gyokeres is understood to be high up on United's wishlist, it's believed the Sporting and Sweden sensation is intent on playing Champions League football and therefore favours a move to Arsenal. The Red Devils were also beaten the signing of Liam Delap earlier this summer, with Chelsea landing the young Ipswich striker for a fee of just £30m. Assessing the club's early transfer business on Rio Ferdinand Presents, the legendary ex-United and England defender said: 'I'm happy with Cunha, he's one of the ones I mentioned on my list. I hope it goes well for him. 'The problem is that I've been happy many times in transfer windows and it's gone wrong. 'I'm hoping he's not going to be added to that list. 'If they get Mbeumo, I'd be very happy.' Ferdinand is confident Mbeumo 'wants to come' to United and feels the forward's Premier League experience will stand him in good stead at the Theatre of Dreams. Asked why Brentford star is being spoken about as a done deal, Ferdinand replied: 'Because he wants to come. Mbeumo wants to come, I know it. 'His stats over the last three seasons in the Premier League are up there, by the way. Goals and assists, goal chances, ridiculous. 'Again, another proven Premier League player. This is what I like, played in the Premier League. There ain't no adjustment business. 'The only thing is there will be adjustment because of the size of the club. 'They don't have to do that when they go to Arsenal! There ain't that pressure, the badge ain't as heavy! It's heavy, but it's not as heavy!' Asked who else he would like to see join United this summer, Ferdinand replied: 'No.9, they already know who I want. The comments know, the people know who I want, who I would go and get: Osimhen! 'It looks like he's turned down Al-Hilal… he must be waiting for Manchester United. 'I don't know if Manchester United are going to come. That's the problem.' Osimhen is expected to move on from Napoli this summer having spent last season on loan at Galatasaray, where he scored 37 goals in all competitions to help the club to a domestic double. Al-Hilal had reportedly reached an agreement wit Napoli to sign Osimhen, only for the prolific Nigeria international to turn down the move. It's understood Osimhen – who has a £64m release clause with Napoli – is determined to continue playing in one of Europe's top leagues. Osimhen has just one year remaining on his current contract in Naples. For more stories like this, check our sport page. Follow Metro Sport for the latest news on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Rio Ferdinand makes honest Bruno Fernandes admission after Man Utd decision

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim endured a nightmare first season at Old Trafford, but as he looks for a much improved second campaign, will be pleased to have his captain and best player, Bruno Fernandes, sticking around Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand admits he's not sure he'd have been able to reject Saudi Arabia's millions like Bruno Fernandes did. The United captain turned down a £100m transfer to Al Hilal earlier this month, which would have netted him in the region of £700k-a-week, to stay at Old Trafford and lead Ruben Amorim's rebuild. Fernandes, who will soon be 30, decided he didn't want to leave the Premier League for Saudi at this stage of his career, despite United's dismal 2024-25 campaign, which saw them finish 15th in the top flight and fail to qualify for Europe. ‌ And club legend Ferdinand believes that his decision to snub a move away and continue fighting to get United back where they believe they should be, tells fans everything they need to know about their talisman. ‌ "The one thing it says to me, there's a loyalty, the 46-year-old said, speaking exclusively to Mirror Football."And I think that word gets banded about quite a lot, but we don't really see it often from the club's point of view and the players. "And listen, I understand it's a business. But I think he looks at this as pure, 'I've got unfinished business at United. There's stuff I want to do here. Yes, I've been paid well here. The fans love me.' But I think he's in the game of wanting to give back after all he's received. So I've got nothing but respect for him. I would have understood him leaving if he left, 100 percent. "But the fact that he stayed and said, listen, there's stuff for me still to do here. I think it's a testament to him as a person, but also another reason why the managers comfortably give him the armband." And Ferdinand admitted: " If I was him, I think I'd have found it difficult to say no. I've got to be honest." One thing that badly hampered United last term was their struggles in front of goal. They have already struck a £62.5m deal with Wolves for Matheus Cunha as they bid to rectify that issue, with Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo now being targeted too. A new No.9 is also on their list, with Viktor Gyokeres and Hugo Ekitike both having been mooted as potential arrivals. On the personal front, ex-England ace Ferdinand recently launched his Career Transfer Hub in collaboration with Talking Futures, with hopes of bridging the gap between teenagers and their parents in terms of future planning. He says about the cause: " I think it's about empowering kind of families to talk more about education, especially parents. ‌ "I think we're comfortable talking about a lot of things, i.e. football, a lot of the time in and around the front room or across the table with your kids, but getting that kind of common ground when you're talking about education, sometimes it's quite difficult, even I've found it difficult at times. "So something like this is definitely a good way in and a good avenue in to kind of having those conversations about what's next in your life, education wise, where do you see yourself going? What paths are you looking at? ‌ "And this is a great, I think, avenue for parents to really kind of touch the paper and go, right, listen, here we go, and start walking their kids down the right path, giving them a little bit of autonomy over it, but also guide them a little bit at the same time. "So I wish I'd had this when I was younger - although I had football, which I was quite fortunate with." Rio Ferdinand has partnered with Talking Futures to launch the Career Transfer Hub – giving parents access to information on their child's education options just like football agents have transfer insiders, negotiation teams and career scouts.
