Late Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers' widow reveals agonising guilt over his death in rare TV interview - and the harrowing ten-word question that still haunts her
Late Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers ' widow opened up about her agonising guilt over his death in rare TV interview on Friday's episode of Lorraine. Liliana Orzac, 57, appeared on the ITV show to chat to step-in host Ranvir Singh, 47, about her new book Dave and Me. TV legend Dave passed away in February 2024 aged 66, two years after his cancer diagnosis. Speaking about her loss, Liliana spoke about her grief and told Ranvir: 'It's an enormous thing to hear, that you have cancer, when you hear that, you don't fully understand the consequences of the treatment or the journey that is coming after that word. 'The stepson hospital corridors, the shattered dreams, the plans that you had for the future that are not going to be there anymore. 'The "What should I do? Should I do this? Should I do that"... 'And then afterwards, you're beating yourself up for thinking "I should have, I could have, I would have"...' 'The guilt the partner has left behind?,' Ranvir pointed out. 'And the guilt, the guilt you haven't done enough, and how could I let this happen in my care?' Liliana said of the questions that still haunt her. Dave shot to fame in 1980s and is best known for being one half of the Hairy Bikers, with his best pal chef Si King, 58. Over 20 years, the pair presented a number of TV shows including The Hairy Bikers Cookbook, Hairy Bikers' Best of British: Series Two and he Hairy Bikers Go West. The pair have also released a number of cookery books, as well as an autobiography. Dave and Liliana tied the knot in 2011 after meeting while filming Hairy Bikers. 'He loved life so much,' Liliana said of her husband. 'He was an inspiration for a lot of people. 'When I met him I was a little bit skeptical about things, I come from a different upbringing, I grew up with limitations imposed on us. 'I loved Dave's freedom of thinking, Dave's freedom of travel, Dave's freedom of expressing himself. 'Our first communication was through emails...' Ranvir pointed out that they met at a hotel during a shoot during the first series of Hairy Bikers. Liliana explained: 'A little hotel that I was managing. They stayed at the hotel and I helped them with locations in the area... 'I was really really fortunate to be in the position to help the, knowing the local area and the contacts, they needed to film something meaningful for the area and representative of the area. 'And we kept in touch by emails. 'He was sending me these beautiful emails from all over the world travelling in first and second series. 'I got these beautiful emails talking about Turkey and the spaces, India and the smells and the colorful India, the penguins of Patagonia, it was magic I read every time in his emails. 'He captured me with that for me it was a dream to travel, but for him it was a reality. 'I was seeing the world through his eyes. It was quite magical. 'Then we met, I met the kindness, the side of him, he was such a beautiful soul and so warm and caring, he was the first man to cook for me!' On February 29 2024 it was revealed that Dave had died as Si revealed. The chef announced he was receiving treatment for cancer in May 2022 and bravely kept the public up to date with his progress in a series of emotional TV specials He died on February 28 2024 with his family and friends by his side. In his heart-wrenching statement Si said: 'Hi everyone, I'm afraid I bear some sad news. 'Most of you will know Dave has been fighting cancer for the past couple of years. 'Last night, on 28th February 2024, with Lili, Dave's wife, his family, close friend David and myself by his side, he passed away peacefully at home. 'All who knew Dave are devastated at his passing. His beloved wife brought him such happiness as did her children, Iza and Sergiu who Dave loved like his own. 'Personally, I am not sure I can put into words on how I feel at the moment. 'My best friend is on a journey that for now, I can't follow. I will miss him every day and the bond and friendship we shared over half a lifetime. 'I wish you god's speed brother; you are and will remain a beacon in this world. See you on the other side. Love ya.' Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.

GWM's Tank 300 diesel is sure to become a favourite off-roader in SA
The GWM Tank 300 diesel is a welcome addition to the lineup When GWM released the Tank 300 into the South African market in February 2024, it looked the part for the consumers in the country. Of course, it falls into a niche category of vehicles as it is a classic off-roader but the style and luxury that GWM has opted for inside the Tank 300 also resonated with consumers. When GWM added the diesel variant of the Tank to its line-up in the first quarter of 2025 it was welcomed with open arms. For starters, the 2.4-litre turbocharged diesel engine, that delivers 135kW of power and 480Nm of torque, boasts the capacity to tow up to 3 tonnes of weight although, of course, it will still not be able to match the torque figures of the hybrid version. Then, the range on the Tank 300 diesel is also huge. It gives you over 900km of driving on a full tank with decent fuel consumption too. GWM claims 7.7 litres/100km and while I couldn't bring the car down to that figure, I still managed below 9 litres/100km, which I thought was very good for a car this big. The off-roading capabilities are endless with the Tank 300 diesel, with features such as 7 all-terrain driving modes, low-speed 4WD, off-road cruise control and Tank turn. In addition, when navigating steep slopes, thick mud and rocky trails, Intelligent Four-Wheel Drive Torque On Demand ensures smooth, controlled torque distribution. The Tank 300 Turbo Diesel features a reinforced off-road chassis and chassis guard for maximum durability and stability. The chassis frame rail has a cross-section of up to 160×130mm, ensuring superior torsion resistance and driving stability when things get rough. Another very cool feature is the 'see-through chassis' 360-degree camera that basically allows you to see underneath the vehicle. For off-roading, it brings forward immense toughness and cutting-edge technology to give the driver an easy experience on challenging terrain. On the road, the Tank 300 diesel is not the most refined — nor was it intended to be. It's still a rugged off-road specialist, not a crossover SUV. However, it still feels solid and capable on the road. It doesn't feel nervous or unsettled and handles extremely well. The Tank 300 boasts a lovely interior which makes you wonder if you are in the same rugged car that you were viewing on the outside. I guess it's a case of beauty comes from within. The super comfortable Nappa leather seats, which are heated, hug you tightly while you immerse yourself in a technological experience. The 64-colour ambient lighting is also displayed wonderfully around the vehicle and a cool touch is that it lights up around the aircon vents to add an extra bit of ambience to the cabin. There are two 12.3-inch screens in the vehicle. One is the infotainment system and the other is the fully digital instrument cluster. While it all looks well put together and extremely neat, the two screens flow along one line and it feels as if the infotainment screen is stashed too far away. I found myself struggling to reach for it when I needed to adjust certain settings and it can be a distraction to the driver. Overall, the Tank 300 diesel is a good addition to the line-up and starts at a very reasonable price of R699 900. I can definitely see it becoming one of South Africa's off-road favourites, but at the same time, it is not for everybody. It will suit those who love the retro look and want to explore everywhere.

Scandalized Shannon Sharpe apologizes to Nicki Minaj over 'misunderstanding'
Shannon Sharpe has apologized to Nicki Minaj after the rapper took a shot at him in her new song, mistakenly thinking he had mocked her on social media. Her 'Banned from No' remix with Lil Wayne hit No. 1 on itunes this week. One line in the song - 'If I send a pic of Shannon, you ain't that sharp' - appeared to take aim the former NFL player, who in April was accused of rape in a lawsuit. He denies the allegations. Minaj seemed to have taken an issue with Sharpe when, in February 2024 on X, a fan told Sharp that 'Nicki' said she wanted to be on his podcast. 'Nicki who?' Sharpe replied. He has since explained that he thought Nicki meant Nikki Haley as he had recently discussed her on his show. The fan actually meant Minaj, who had spoken about Sharpe's podcast in an interview. But the initial remark obvioulsy didn't go down well with Minaj, who wrote on X: 'If I send a pic of Shannon, you ain't that sharp!!!! You thought I forgot that 'Nicki who' s*** you did?' A follower then sent her a video of Sharpe explaining the misunderstanding, where his co-host Chad 'Ochocinco' Johnson said he was going to text Minaj and tell her what really happened. It seems that message might have not been sent, judging by Minaj's seemingly surprised reaction on X to one of her followers telling her Sharpe was sorry. 'LOL - well we got a funny lil rap bar out of it,' Minaj wrote. 'Thank you, Shannon b/c I was like 'what I done did now?' You never cleared it up to the Barbz so I had to avenge them.' In the segment tweeted to Minaj, Sharpe explained: 'I used to go back and forth with people. I was talking about Nikki Haley. Nikki Haley said it's really great for everybody of black America, and I was like … 'When has it ever been great?' 'Nicki, I was not trying to be disrespectful. Of course I know who you are. I would be remiss to say that I thought you knew who I was, or that you knew anything about 'Club Shay Shay.' I'm not that arrogant. 'Nicki, I apologize. I meant no disrespect. You'll always have an open invitation if you ever want to come sit down and have a conversation. 'Even if you just want to have a private conversation on the phone or something. It won't go any further between you and I.' Sharpe stepped away from his duties as an ESPN host on its 'First Take' show as backlash following the rape lawsuit intensified. 'At this juncture I am electing to step aside temporarily from my ESPN duties,' Sharpe said in a statement back in April. 'I will be devoting this time to my family, and responding and dealing with these false and disruptive allegations set against me. I plan to return to ESPN at the start of the NFL preseason.'

Who Got Fraud Checked? NOT THIS GUY!
Joe Pyfer thinks fight fans are overlooking him. The Middleweight knockout artist holds a 4-1 record inside the Octagon, and each of those victories came via stoppage. However, he feels like the focus remains on the sole loss of his UFC career, a February 2024 upset loss to Jack Hermansson. In that bout, Pyfer was able to start strong, but he lost moment as the fight wore on, and Hermansson's movement really gave him trouble. Advertisement Before the official scorecards had even been read, fans cried, 'FRAUD CHECK!' Pyfer doesn't think that's fair. In his opinion, he suffered a competitive loss to a veteran, and it's not like he got knocked out or anything. Compared to something like Bo Nickal's recent implosion against Reinier de Ridder, it's not such a bad loss! 'I think a lot of people go off my Jack Hermansson fight, which is fine,' Pyfer said. 'That was my first big show, first big test. Walked into it not 100%, had some thigns going on and it wasn't my best performance. But, I didn't get rocked, I didn't got dropped, I didn't get submitted — I didn't get fraud checked. Let's redefine what fraud checked is. If anybody got fraud checked, it's Bo Nickal. He got finished on his first loss. I lost basically a split-decision, three rounds to two.' I actually don't disagree with a lot of Pyfer's comments here. Losing to Hermansson is understandable for a man with relatively few UFC fights, and at 28 years of age, Pyfer has plenty of time to rebound and get better. He's not a fraud for losing a single UFC fight, not when champions like Charles Oliveira have proven that an indirect path to UFC gold is possible. Advertisement The 'split-decision' in question though? Hermansson won that fight cleanly. As for not being 100%, every fighter shows up injured to some degree, so take Dustin Poirier's advice and hush it up! This weekend (Sat., June 7, 2025), Pyfer will finally face off versus veteran Kelvin Gastelum. The two were supposed to square off in Mexico City two months ago, but a last-second stomach problem ejected him from the contest and permanently pissed him off. More from

Laken Riley's sister says family has 'hope' after Trump immigration changes: 'Still a lot to be done'
EXCLUSIVE: Laken Riley's sister said she and her family have "hope" due to the immigration policies President Donald Trump has put in place, telling Fox News Digital in an exclusive interview that, while there is "still a lot to be done," continuing in the direction of the new administration "will be very beneficial to our country." Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student at Augusta University, was brutally assaulted and murdered by an illegal migrant while on a morning run in February 2024. Her sister, Lauren Phillips, told Fox News Digital that she will always speak out in honor and remembrance of her older sister, and will continue to advocate for "securing our borders." "I think it's important that we keep reminding people of the importance of securing our borders and what can happen when it's not secure," Phillips told Fox News Digital. "We definitely feel hope – we just need to keep talking about it and keep everyone aware of what happens when nothing is done," she continued. "And I think a lot has been done so far, and I am grateful for that, but there is still a lot to be done." She added: "I think that continuing in the direction that the new administration is going will be very beneficial to our country." Phillips, on Thursday, was featured in the first video launched by the American Border Story (TABS), a national initiative dedicated to exposing the human impact of America's border crisis through storytelling. "I really feel it's important because it didn't stop with Laken – it keeps happening," Phillips told Fox News Digital. "I feel like just telling what's happening to all of these people isn't enough." "People aren't realizing what's truly being lost every single time something like this happens," she said. The TABS video is the first in a series that aims to bring "the truth to light." "Truth the media and politicians too often ignore," Nicole Kiprilov, executive director of TABS, told Fox News Digital. "Laken Riley's story is not just a tragedy – it's a wake-up call." Kiprilov said TABS is "honored to stand with her sister Lauren and brave families across America who are turning pain into purpose." "This documentary is about more than remembrance – it's about demanding accountability, restoring safety and putting the American people first," Kiprilov said. Phillips, in the video, spoke about her sister, their relationship and Riley's faith, while stressing that protecting the border "should be common sense." "I could talk about her forever," Phillips told Fox News Digital. "I think Laken is just the type of person that you want to be around. She's the type of person that shows up and she wasn't just my sibling – she was my best friend." "A lot of people would say her presence brought so much comfort and strength and peace, and I carry a lot of what she taught me in my everyday life," she continued. "She had a light that is so impossible to ignore." Meanwhile, Trump signed the Laken Riley Act into law just days after taking office. It was the first piece of legislation he signed in his second administration. The measure directs Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to detain illegal immigrants arrested or charged with theft-related crimes, or those accused of assaulting a police officer. The law also allows states to sue the Department of Homeland Security for harm caused to their citizens because of illegal immigration. But Phillips told Fox News Digital that despite changes to federal law, it is "terrifying to have to walk around the same city where such a tragic thing happened to my sister." Riley was murdered near the University of Georgia campus in Athens, which is considered an unofficial sanctuary city. "The laws that were not put in place are still not put in place in a city where something so tragic happened," Phillips said. "I thought what happened to Laken would change that, but nothing has changed there, so I think continuing to talk about it, not backing down, not staying quiet, hopefully, will do something." In addition to being vocal on immigration and honoring the life of her sister, Phillips said she and her family have created the Laken Hope Foundation. "I thank God every day that I have the space to share, and that he gave me Laken for the time that he did, and I thank him for her faith and his faithfulness to know that none of this compares to what we're going to be given and where she is."
