Kevin Feige Confirms 'Fantastic Four' Directly Leads into 'Avengers: Doomsday'

Summary The architectural blueprint ofMarvel Studios' Multiverse Saga continues to unfold with strategic precision. During a presentation atDisney's CineEurope convention, Marvel Studios head honchoKevin Feigeofficially confirmed that the events ofThe Fantastic Four: First Stepswill directly lead into December 2026'sAvengers: Doomsday. This revelation cements the highly anticipated debut of Marvel's First Family as an integral cornerstone of the next Avengers-level threat. The Fantastic Four: First Steps, set for release on July 25, 2025, has already generated immense buzz with its unique premise. The film will reportedly take place on an alternate, retro-futuristic 1960s Earth, introducing audiences to Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm. The primary antagonist is confirmed to be the planet-devouring cosmic entity, Galactus (voiced by Ralph Ineson), alongside his herald, the Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). While director Matt Shakman has indicated Doctor Doom won't be in thisFantastic Fourfilm, theThunderbolts*post-credits scene already teased the team's arrival in the mainMCUtimeline, making this direct narrative connection somewhat anticipated by keen-eyed fans. Feige's confirmation at CineEurope reinforces the interconnected nature of Phase 6 and Doomsday, directed by the returningRusso Brothersand starringRobert Downey the iconic villain Doctor Doom, is currently shooting in London. The direct link suggests that the Fantastic Four's journey – likely involving their displacement from their own reality and their encounter with a cosmic threat – will directly set the stage for the massive multiversal conflict that Doctor Doom instigates in the next Avengers film. This strategic narrative tethering serves to elevate the importance ofThe Fantastic Four: First Steps, positioning it not just as a standalone origin-adjacent story, but as a critical precursor to the MCU's next grand saga. Fans now have a clearer understanding that the cosmic stakes and character introductions within the Fantastic Four's debut will resonate profoundly in the lead-up toDoomsday.

New Teaser Of Fantastic Four: First Steps Shows Mole Man's Monster Giganto In Action

Last Updated: Fans got a first glimpse of Giganto, a giant green monster controlled by Mole Man, from Fantastic Four: First Steps, in a new Little Caesars commercial. Fantastic Four: First Steps is generating much buzz among the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) fans, who are excited to watch it in theatres. The studio has promised the film will stay true to the original story from the comics. Recently, they showed how they carefully recreated the very first cover of the 1961 Fantastic Four comic. Fans got the first glimpse of Giganto, a giant green monster controlled by Mole Man, in a new Little Caesars commercial. The monster looks just like it did in the comic created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby years ago. The ad features a worker talking about their pizza when he suddenly gets attacked by the giant monster. Soon after, we see Sue Storm, Mister Fantastic, Human Torch and Ben Grimm coming to the rescue. While the clip looks fun, it may actually be taken from the upcoming movie and edited for the pizza promotion. For months, fans have been hearing that First Steps might show flashbacks of the team's earlier fights and this could be one of those scenes. Just a sneak peek of the BIG things coming to the screen soon 👀See Marvel Studios' #TheFantasticFour: First Steps in theaters July 25 — Little Caesars Pizza (@littlecaesars) June 17, 2025 In the comics, Giganto is controlled by Mole Man, who uses him to attack different locations. When the Fantastic Four find out, Mole Man sends the giant monster after them in New York City. In Fantastic Four: First Steps, actor Paul Walter Hauser is expected to play Mole Man. He has shared positive comments about his time on set. While appearing on Sirius XM earlier this year, Paul said, 'I think, from what I've seen, and obviously, I can't say much about it, but I will say the short time I was on set, dude, they're making a cool movie, man. This is a smart, chic Marvel movie that really focuses on family as part of the theme. And you really kind of fall in love with those characters, I think. And that's what's missing sometimes if you don't fall in love with these characters, and you keep putting them in peril, we don't really care. You know, you got to make us care first. And I think Marvel's hopefully getting back to some of that." All four stars are also confirmed to return in Avengers: Doomsday, which is set to hit theatres on December 18, 2026. Thunderbolts lost millions despite rave reviews, what's next for Marvel?

Thunderbolts premiered to strong enthusiasm—a whopping 88 per cent critic score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 93 per cent audience rating. Disney CEO Bob Iger even heralded it as 'the first and best' result of Marvel's new film strategy. But six weeks in, its $371 million global box office haul places it among the MCU's lowest earners. With a production and marketing outlay reaching $275 million, analysts say it would need about $425 million just to break even. Critical acclaim, financial crash Shawn Robbins, director of analytics at Fandango, suggests Marvel has entered a 'new era' where blockbuster success cannot be assumed. Indeed, while pre‑pandemic MCU films largely topped $500 million, only 6 of 13 movies have crossed that mark since 2020. Still, Marvel's vast ecosystem—including Disney+, theme parks, and merch—helps cushion losses. Standalone films are fading, but the big guns still fire Michael Bock from Exhibitor Relations notes that 'lower‑tier comic book movies aren't cinematic slam dunks anymore,' pointing to Thunderbolts' rapid decline at the box office. In response, Marvel is scaling back stand‑alone origin films and doubling down on tentpole events and crossover extravaganzas, think Fantastic Four: First Steps, Avengers: Doomsday (Dec 2026), Spider‑Man 4, and Avengers: Secret Wars (Dec 2027). These are seen as safer bets with built‑in fanbases. Quality over quantity: The creative course correction After Marvel fatigue set in—sparked by an overload of interconnected films and TV series—Kevin Feige admitted the studio had overstuffed its release schedule . The misfires of The Marvels and Quantumania forced introspection. Now, Marvel is pulling back, emphasising fewer, bigger, and more polished projects. Thunderbolts was viewed more like a narrative bridge than a standalone hit, What's Marvel's next move? Marvel has signalled that it will prioritise proven franchises like Avengers and Spider‑Man. Lesser-known characters may only get spotlight time in team‑ups rather than their own blockbusters . With rising production costs and tighter budgets, the MCU's strategy appears to be about smart storytelling over sheer volume.
