Revealed: The potential cost the Lionesses will have to pay out of their own pocket for loved ones to watch them in the group stages of Euro 2025
A study has shown how much each member of England 's Euro 2025 squad may have to pay individually to have loved ones fly out and stay to watch them in Switzerland. The European Championship holders begin the defence of their title next month in a daunting Group D which also contains France, Netherlands and Wales. On Wednesday, it was revealed that England players are contributing their own money to help cover the cost of bringing family members to Switzerland, due to the country's high cost of living. Four Swiss cities - Zurich, Geneva, Basel and Bern - ranked among the top 10 most expensive cities globally last year, behind only Hong Kong and Singapore. The average price for a pint of milk is as high as £1.67. England will be playing in Zurich as well as another host city in St. Gallen. The FA are providing England players with a financial contribution to support the travel and accommodation expenses of their families. The sum is comparable to what was provided for the 2023 Women's World Cup in Australia, and it matches the amount given to the men's team. And She Kicks have calculated the full cost of what the group stage for travel and accommodation could be for England players if they paid the full whack themselves. England's camp for the tournament will be in Zurich with two of their matches there. If the unthinkable happens and England are knocked out at the group stages, then their tournament would end on July 13. And a flight back that day currently costs £120-per-person. If there is some, in the loosest sense, comfort for England their game in St. Gallen against Wales is a short one-hour bus journey - therefore saving the need for another hotel. Speaking about their predicament on Wednesday, England midfielder Georgia Stanway said: 'I'm aware that Switzerland is a very expensive country. Even just for flights, hotels, the cost of living there is extremely high, so we understand the demand it is on fans. And I think that's difficult for us as well because we want to help and support as much as possible. 'A lot of us are putting our hands in our pockets to make sure that our families can get over there. We would love to see as many fans as possible, and we want to thank them in advance because we know it's not cheap.' Team-mate Ella Toone added: 'I think it will be a bit difficult for players' families who are staying out for the whole tournament. I know that I'll always help my family be out there and make memories with us.'

Air India crash victims' family feel 'utterly abandoned'
The family of three Britons who died in the Air India plane crash are calling on the UK government to provide more support in Nanabawa, Hannaa Vorajee and Sara Nanabawa, aged four, were returning home to Gloucester when their plane ploughed into a residential area on brother, Hamzah, said they are yet to receive his body despite giving DNA and waiting three days with no further update. A family spokesperson added: "We're not asking for miracles – we're asking for presence, for compassion, for action. Right now, we feel utterly abandoned."A Foreign Office spokesperson said there is an advice helpline and a support centre has been set up near the airport. The plane was carrying 242 people when it crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad airport, in western India, including 53 sole surviving passenger was Briton Vishwash Kumar Nanabawa said: "I need the UK government to come out by themselves, if they've given up all this big talk over in the UK, come out here and help."He added there is no UK leadership in India, no medical team and no crisis professionals stationed at the hospital. "No one from UK has even reached out to me, my family, to my sister in law's family. Nobody has. So you're saying no one from the foreign office in the UK or here reached out to us at all, nobody," Mr Nanabawa said."They haven't done anything for us [or] what we wanted. You have to understand, this is the highest, highest incident in the UK's history of 53 lives, and we are now on day four."He added: "All I want is you guys to come and help and help my brother, my sister in law, my niece and all the other 53 people that were on that plane. "Come and help them, please. Because they are grieving. They are hurt. They haven't got anybody. Taoiseach says every effort will be made to bring Robert Pether home as soon as possible
Taoiseach Micheál Martin has said that every effort will be made to get Robert Pether home to his family in Roscommon as quickly as possible, following his release from custody in Iraq after four years in prison. Mr Pether, who is an Australian citizen, has been in prison in Iraq since April 2021, after he was arrested on fraud charges following a contractual dispute involving his employer that arose out of the building of a new Central Bank building in Baghdad in Iraq. Advertisement The United Nations says it has been an arbitrary detention. Speaking during a school visit in Passage West, Co Cork on Friday morning, Mr Martin welcomed Mr Pether's release. He said that the imprisonment of the resident of Elphin, Co Roscommon, has been 'very distressing' for his wife, children and other family members. 'I don't want to say things that may in any way hinder his eventual arrival back to Ireland, but I believe this is a good first step. "We have to work very hard with countries such as Iraq and others in terms [of] the treatment of Irish citizens. He is an Australian citizen, which is a complicating factor in all of this, but both ourselves and the Australian Government have been working together in terms of endeavouring to get him out.' Advertisement Mr Martin said that he remains concerned about the health of the 49-year-old. 'I certainly do (share the concern of his wife) and the knock-on impact, the significant impact, on the well-being of the family. I have met with (his wife) Desree, and I think it's very upsetting. It is very difficult, as she said herself this morning, to see him now in terms of what the impact of prison has had on his life.' Meanwhile, Desree Pether told Morning Ireland on RTÉ Radio 1 this morning that she was shocked at the poor physical condition of her husband when she spoke to him by video link. She said that Mr Pether is 'not well at all' and 'really needs to just come home so he can get the proper medical attention he needs.' Advertisement She said that he has fainted a few times over the last few months. 'He is not eating properly because he can't keep anything down. It is a shock to the system to see how far he has declined.' Ms Pether and other family members have been actively campaigning to get Robert Pether out of prison since 2021. Mr Martin met with Mr Pether's family in January of last year in his capacity as Minister for Foreign Affairs. He also raised the case with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York in September 2023. The Department of Foreign Affairs raised the issue with Iraqi embassy in Dublin on numerous occasions whilst the detention of Mr Pether was also raised in Baghdad by Ireland's Ambassador to Iraq, Marianne Bolger.

Law enforcement officers set to testify in Diddy's sex trafficking trial
incoming update… Sean 'Diddy' Combs missed a major milestone in the lives of his twin daughters last week as his federal trial for sex crimes continues. The disgraced rapper's 18-year-old twin daughters, D'Lila and Jessie, graduated from high school on May 23, based on videos posted on the Instagram stories on their shared account. In the video, the two were seen holding hands as they walked across the stage to accept their diplomas in a navy-blue cap and gown, with the crowd cheering them on as they held up their plaques, according to E! News. Diddy was unable to attend the ceremony, as he is being held at Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center, where he has been since his arrest in September 2024. He has been charged with racketeering conspiracy; sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion; and transportation to engage in prostitution. He was denied bail three times. His daughters spoke out in support of their father in a joint statement with their other siblings, which was posted on Quincy Combs' Instagram, shortly after his arrest in October 2024. 'The past month has devastated our family. Many have judged both him and us based on accusations, conspiracy theories, and false narratives that have spiraled into absurdity on social media,' the post read. 'We stand united, supporting you every step of the way. We hold onto the truth, knowing it will prevail, and nothing will break the strength of our family. WE MISS YOU & LOVE YOU DAD.' Sean 'Diddy' Combs has been held behind bars at Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center since his arrest in September 2024. He has been charged with racketeering conspiracy; sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion; and transportation to engage in prostitution. The disgraced rapper isn't the only person involved in a high-profile case being held in the federal prison. Luigi Mangione, the individual charged in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, is also being held there. Mangione was extradited to the Brooklyn detention center after he was initially held in a Pennsylvania state prison and is now awaiting his federal trial in Brooklyn. The Metropolitan Detention Center is the only federal prison in New York and is primarily used to detain individuals who are waiting for their federal trial date in Manhattan and Brooklyn. In addition to Mangione and Combs, the federal prison has also housed other high-profile individuals, including rapper Ja Rule, R. Kelly, as well as Jeffery Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. Sean 'Diddy' Combs' former assistant, Capricorn Clark, took the witness stand on the 10th day of the rapper's federal sex crimes trial. Clark testified to a number of things, including that on her first day working for Diddy, he took her for a walk through Central Park at 9:00 PM where he allegedly found out she previously worked at Death Row Records with his rival, Suge Knight. Diddy allegedly told her that if anything happened, he would have to kill her. Clark also claimed that in December 2011, Diddy arrived to her apartment with a gun and forced her to go with him saying they were going to go "kill" Kid Cudi, who Cassie Ventura was dating at the time. Former federal prosecutor Neama Rahmani told Fox News Digital that Clark's testimony 'was the most explosive" in the trial so far. "Combs accused Clark of stealing diamond jewelry. His security locked her in an office and administered a lie detector test. They [allegedly] told her that if she failed, they would throw her in the East River. They took her to the same office and questioned her with a lie detector for five days straight. That's kidnapping and a racketeering act," Rahmani said. Los Angeles litigator John J. Perlstein told Fox News Digital that her testimony followed a pattern of "universally established malicious conduct," which could be very damaging to Diddy. "Ms. Clark's testimony corroborates the beatings and Diddy's history of violence towards many, especially women, further supporting the racketeering charges being levied against him," Perlstein said.
