‘Maareesan' teaser: Fahadh Faasil, Vadivelu reunite in an intriguing road thriller
The teaser of the upcoming Tamil film, Maareesan, starring Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu, was unveiled by the makers on Wednesday (June 4). Written by V Krishna Moorthy and directed by Sudheesh Sankar, the film marks a reunion between the two actors after their acclaimed 2023 film Maamannan. The teaser, set to the popular 'Aaha Inba Nilaavinile' song from 1957's Mayabazar, opens with aerial shots that track two men on a bike (played by Fahadh and Vadivelu) travelling through different landscapes. Everything points towards a breezy, feel-good road film, until the two lead characters begin to sing the Mayabazar song. The table turns, and we begin to see glimpses of a thriller story. The 83-minute teaser does a great job at piquing our interests without revealing much about the film's plot. The teaser also shows actor Vivek Prasanna as Fahadh's character's friend, while veteran comedian Kovai Sarala and actor-producer PL Thenappan appear as cops. Sithara, Livingston, Renuka, Saravana Subbiah, Krishna, Haritha, and Telephone Raja are also part of the cast of Maareesan. With music scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja, the film has cinematography by Kalaiselvan Sivaji and editing by Sreejith Sarang. RB Choudary produces the film under his Super Good Films banner.

Not Fahadh Faasil, this actor was the first choice to play Bhanwar Singh Shekawat in Allu Arjun's Pushpa
Sukumar took five years to make the Pushpa films—Pushpa: The Rise (2021) and Pushpa 2: The Rule (2025). The characters played by Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil are so deeply embedded that it's hard to imagine anyone else in their place now. However, in an interview with M9 News, Nara Rohith claimed that he was the first choice for the role of Bhanwar Singh Shekawat. (Also Read: Alia Bhatt would love to work with Fahadh Faasil after Roshan Mathew: 'He was unreal in Aavesham') When asked if it's true that he was approached for Fahadh's role in Pushpa, Rohith confirmed it and said, 'I posted some pictures with a moustache during the Covid-19 pandemic. Ravi (Shankar) garu spoke to me first, as did Sukumar garu. Then the span of the film changed, and they wanted Fahadh. But initially, they did speak to me.' Rohith reveals that while he was interested in the role, he doesn't know if he could've played Bhanwar as well as Fahadh did. He said, 'I don't know if I could've played the character like he did. Maybe, if I were on that set, I could've vibed and done it. But after seeing Fahadh, I was like, okay. That was terrific, actually.' In the Pushpa films, Bhanwar plays Arjun's titular character's arch nemesis, a police officer who is casteist and wants to bring down the red sanders smuggling ring at any cost. Fahadh himself, though, didn't seem that impressed by the role when he told Film Companion in 2024, 'I don't think Pushpa did anything for me. I told Sukumar Sir that. I don't have to hide it. I have to be honest.' Rohith took a break from acting after the 2018 film Veera Bhoga Vasantha Rayalu. The film tanked at the box office and was a massive failure. In 2024, he made a comeback with Prathinidhi 2. The same year, he got engaged to his co-star from the film, Siree Lella. He will soon star in Sundarakanda and Bhairavam.

Alia Bhatt calls Fahadh Faasil a ‘fantastic actor', shares dream of working with him: ‘Aavesham is one of my favourite films'
While Indian cinema boasts numerous stars across various languages, the number of artistes who have earned widespread acclaim, recognition and reverence purely for their acting abilities is far smaller. Among that significantly shorter list are Malayalam's Fahadh Faasil and Bollywood's Alia Bhatt, both widely regarded as two of the finest actors in contemporary cinema. While Alia's husband, Ranbir Kapoor, has previously expressed his deep admiration for Fahadh, the Jigra actor herself has now shared her dream of working with the Malayalam star one day. 'Fahadh Faasil is someone I really admire; his work [as well]. He is such a fantastic actor. I think Aavesham is one of my favourite films, and he was just unreal. I would love to collaborate with him someday,' she shared during a conversation with Brut India when asked if there were any regional filmmakers or actors she wished to work with. Alia also heaped praise on her Darlings co-star Roshan Mathew. 'There are so many actors and there's so much talent out there. I had the good fortune of working with Roshan Mathew on Darlings. He's, of course, a wonderful actor, who's done a lot of Malayalam content. He is also making waves in Hindi now.' You can watch any kind of content,' she said. Often referred to as one of the finest actors in the country now, Fahadh Faasil is the son of legendary filmmaker Fazil. Though he made his debut in his father's Kaiyethum Doorath (2002), the movie was severely panned by both critics and the audience alike. Following this setback, Fahadh took a hiatus and moved to the US. He soon began receiving more opportunities and showcased his renewed potential in films like Chaappa Kurishu (2011) and 22 Female Kottayam (2012). Since then, Fahadh has been part of several notable films, including Annayum Rasoolum (2013), Amen (2013), North 24 Kaatham (2013), Artist (2013), Oru Indian Pranayakadha (2013), Bangalore Days (2014), Maheshinte Prathikaaram (2016), Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum (2017), Joji (2021), Kumbalangi Nights (2019), Malik (2021), Vikram (2022), and Aavesham (2024).
