FICCI, SAIF Zone to conduct B2B meetings in Vijayawada on June 23 and 24
The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), in collaboration with the Sharjah Airport International Free Zone (SAIF Zone) of the Government of Sharjah, the UAE, is organising a special series of B2B meetings in Vijayawada under the theme, 'Expand Your Business in International Markets through UAE', on June 23 and 24. According to a press release, the objective is to create awareness among businesses in Andhra Pradesh about the strategic benefits of expanding operations to the UAE, especially through the SAIF Zone, which is one of the region's most dynamic and investor-friendly free zones. The meetings will focus on key sectors such as engineering goods, auto components, food processing, renewable energy, ceramics and agro-equipment. Representatives from the SAIF Zone will engage with Indian entrepreneurs to discuss investment opportunities, operational support, and the ease of setting up businesses in the UAE.

India can become a global leader in long-haul tourism with the right focus and sustained investment: FICCI-Skift Report
India has the potential to become a global leader in long-haul tourism, but must address key perception and infrastructure barriers to unlock its full potential, according to a new report by FICCI and Skift released at the 14th Great Indian Travel Bazaar 2025 in Jaipur. Titled How to Grow Inbound Tourism in India: Unlocking Long-Haul Opportunities, the report presents actionable insights for policymakers and industry leaders to accelerate inbound tourism from high-value markets such as the United States and the United Kingdom. Drawing on original survey-based research of 1,600 travelers and non-travelers from the U.S. and UKtwo markets that accounted for over a quarter of Indias foreign tourist arrivals in 2023the report identifies key drivers and deterrents influencing Indias global tourism appeal. While India scores highly for its cultural heritage, spiritual experiences, natural beauty, and cuisine, it continues to face perception issues that hinder long-haul arrivals. Among non-travelers, 63% cited that India is not currently a top priority for their upcoming trips. Rather than signalling disinterest, this highlights an opportunity to elevate Indias visibility and relevance in global travel planning. Indias top tourism growth opportunities lie in cultural (59% interest), culinary (56%), and adventure (37%) tourism segments. These sectors also hold the highest revenue potential, with cultural tourism alone projected to generate $21.9 billion in spending. Emerging areas like wellness, luxury, and medical tourism offer strong per-visitor revenue, with luxury tourists spending an average of $4,041 per trip. To harness this opportunity, the report recommends a two-tier strategy: Short-term actions such as enhancing safety perception through traveler testimonials and dashboards, simplifying visa processes, and promoting destination cleanliness standards. Long-term reforms including investments in tourism infrastructure, curated cultural circuits, and targeted marketing campaigns inspired by global best practices. The report also highlights the importance of air connectivity, digital booking experiences, and diaspora engagement through initiatives like a "Return to Roots" campaign. The findings underscore the urgent need for coordinated action between government, industry stakeholders, and global partners. With the right focus and sustained investment, India can transform from an aspirational destination into a long-haul favorite for global travelers.

Indigenous innovation is India's strongest shield: FICCI defence panel leader
Operation Sindoor proved indigenous innovation is India's strongest shield, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) National Defence and Homeland Security Committee Co-Chair Ashok Atluri said on Friday. 'Homegrown drones, equipped with inbuilt detectors, jammers and radars, successfully neutralised Chinese drone threats without a single imported component,' Mr. Atluri said, addressing MSME Xcelerate 2025, organised by the FICCI. He said that research and development is not a luxury but a necessity for companies, especially Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME). 'While day-to-day operations may feel all-consuming, ignoring R&D risks irrelevance. Identifying the right area and committing focus can lead to transformative breakthroughs. India must innovate for the world, not just for local markets... funding is no longer a barrier,' he said. FICCI in a release said that the event with 'Innovation, Technology, Sustainability' as its theme sought to empower MSMEs by connecting them with emerging technologies, sustainable practices, and smart financial strategies. National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) Zonal Head and General Manager V. Suresh Babu said NSIC is a key enabler for MSMEs across India, helping them market their products to government departments and public sector units. As an NSIC-registered member, MSMEs enjoy several benefits, including exemption from tender fees and security deposits, making it easier to participate in government tenders. Chairman of FICCI Telangana Defence and Aerospace Committee P. Radhakishore said that while the government of India has taken commendable steps to support MSMEs through regulatory reforms, compliance ease, and sustainability-focused schemes, support at the State level remains limited despite MSMEs being vital contributors to GDP and employment. FICCI Telangana State Council Chairman V.V. Rama Raju and Executive Committee member Deepti Gaddam spoke.

The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) Friday launched its flagship initiative, MSME Xcelerate 2025, in Hyderabad, aiming to transform India's micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) into global growth engines through innovation, technology, and sustainability. Themed 'Innovation, Technology, Sustainability,' the conference was inaugurated by Ashok Atluri, Co-Chair, FICCI National Defence & Homeland Security Committee and CMD of Zen Technologies Ltd., alongside V Suresh Babu, Zonal Head & GM, NSIC. Other dignitaries included P. Radhakishore, VV Rama Raju, and Deepti Gaddam. Delivering the keynote address, Atluri highlighted the success of Operation Sindhoor, where indigenous drone technologies helped neutralise external threats without a single imported component.

Atluri, who is also the chairman & managing director of Hyderabad-based Zen Technologies, said R&D is not a luxury but a necessity, especially for MSMEs, in his inaugural address at FICCI's MSME Xcelerate 2025. "While day-to-day operations may feel all-consuming, ignoring R&D risks irrelevance. Identifying the right area and committing focus can lead to transformative breakthroughs. To thrive globally, India must innovate for the world, not just for local markets. R&D can propel India to global leadership, and funding is no longer a barrier in India," he said. V Suresh Babu, zonal head, National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), NSIC-registered MSMEs get several benefits, including exemption from tender fees and security deposits, making it easier to participate in govt tenders. "Under the public procurement policy, it's mandatory for PSUs to source at least 25% of their requirements from MSMEs. It's a golden opportunity MSMEs must leverage. NSIC also supports MSMEs in showcasing their offerings through exhibitions, with up to 80% subsidy provided for domestic participation," he said. FICCI's Telangana State Council Chairman VV Rama Raju said though MSMEs are the lifeblood of the Indian economy with a 30% contribution to the GDP, they face several challenges in today's rapidly evolving economic environment.
