BMW F 450 GS spotted testing. Launch expected this year
The growing demand for adventure motorcycles is compelling manufacturers to offer more and more models and create some if need be. BMW Motorrad had been offering the BMW G 310 GS in India till very recently. However, this entry-level GS has now been taken off the shelves to make way for the new BMW G 450 GS, a middleweight contender in this hot-selling segment. The company showcased a concept version of the bike recently and now the production version has been spied testing revealing details and also raising expectations towards a launch this year. Imaages are courtesy of: good news comes in the form of what Johann Simon, vehicle project manager of the Concept F 450 GS, said recently. Simon says "No compromises for sure. Following the very sporty off-road focus of the Concept F 450 GS, we will implement the bike as close as possible to this concept.' Now if we look closely at the spy shots, it is evident that the F 450 GS is not exactly the off road focused bike Simon is talking about. Rather this is a more road biased version of the bike. This means that we can expect multiple variants based on this platform. The bike seen here is the road-biased version that will take on the likes of the KTM 390 Adventure S, Royal Enfield Himalayan and also the recently launched Yezdi Adventure. The bike sports a 19inch front and 17inch rear wheel. Wheels are alloys and thus we can expect tubeless tyres as well. The vertical LED headlamps and tall screen give the bike an aggressive and true GS look. The bike is also expected to carry the same 6.5 inch colour TFT display as seen on the concept. The fuel tank is expected to hold as much as 14 litres of bike will use a steel Trellis frame and have a bolt-on subframe. Powering the bike will be a 450cc parallel twin engine tuned to offer 48bhp and 45Nm of torque. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed transmission. The BMW F 450 GS will be manufactured by TVS in their manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil TVS will not rebrand this motorcycle as a TVS. Upcoming BMW F 450 GS spied testing in production-ready form: What we know so far
The BMW F 450 GS adventure tourer has finally been spotted in a production-ready form and brings a few changes over the concept unveiled earlier at Auto Expo 2025. The upcoming adventure tourer was previously spied testing in Karnataka, but the test mule was kept heavily camouflaged. Recent spy shots from Germany tell a fuller story with more details on what we can expect from the BMW F 450 GS, which will be manufactured locally in collaboration with TVS Motor Company. The production-ready test mule has a few changes over the F 450 GS Concept while retaining the same silhouette. The quad-LED DRL setup with the GS badge has been replaced with a conventional, vertically stacked dual-LED configuration. The bodywork is now complete and includes the same front visor with what seems to be a broader tail section. BMW F 450 GS: Hardware and specifications The F 450 GS Concept showcased at the Auto Expo 2025 featured a quad LED DRL setup and cross-spoke wheels. The BMW F 450 GS utilises a steel bridge trellis frame and a bolt-on rear sub-frame. It features an aluminium swing-arm with a central spring strut. The bike is held up by upside-down forks at the front and a rear monoshock. While the spy shots available do not indicate which components have been used, the F 450 GS's suspension is expected to retain some degree of adjustability with load-sensitive damping. BMW Motorrad has equipped the F 450 GS with an all-new 450 cc parallel twin engine, developed specifically for this model. The motor produces 48 bhp and is tuned for strong torque output at the lower end of the rev band, making it suitable for technical off-road riding as well as city and highway use. Although the test bike was heavily camouflaged, some design elements were confirmed, pointing to the production model creeping closer to reality. With this sighting, it's clear that BMW is gearing to add a mid-capacity ADV to its India line-up, targeting riders who desire something superior to the G 310 GS but not as big or intimidating as the BMW F 900 GS. The launch of the 450 GS is expected to be sometime in Q3 2025, with deliveries possibly starting prior to the festive season. BMW F 450 GS: Expected design The test bike has a similar silhouette to the F 450 GS concept motorcycle, and even under camouflage, some of its features are obvious. Specifically, twin exhaust pipes from the engine head are reminiscent of the layout in the previous concept, building up the identity of the bike. BMW F 450 GS Spied Testing; Himalayan Rival Getting Ready For Launch?
Yes, we all have seen the BMW F 450 GS concept first at EICMA 2024 and then at Auto Expo 2025, in India, and now a test mule has been spotted, well testing in India, before the motorcycle is launched towards the end of 2025. While the silhouette largely stays similar to the concept, the spy shots reveal new and interesting details about the upcoming 450 cc adventure motorcycle. To start off, the test motorcycle was seen with a 19-inch alloy wheel up front and a 17-inch alloy at the rear, shod with dual-purpose rubber. The motorcycle is wearing full camouflage and has a pillion on-board along with the rider. What is also noticeable is the top box, which is likely carrying testing equipment. The exhaust is mounted low and the test mule is also seen having saddlebags. The twin header pipes confirm the model, which is the F 450 GS. The motorcycle will have a 450 cc parallel-twin engine, which is said to make 48 hp and well, the concept weighed in at just 175 kg. The production model will be heavier, but not by a significant margin. BMW is likely to offer features like adjustable suspension, electronic rider aids, disc brakes at either end, Bluetooth/smartphone connectivity, a fully digital TFT console and full LED lighting. The BMW F 450 GS will be manufactured at TVS Motor's plant in Hosur. What is also interesting that BMW Motorrad India has currently stopped the sales of the G 310 GS, which means that the F 450 GS will be the entry point in BMW's adventure motorcycle range and will likely be priced between Rs. 4.5 to Rs. 5 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, the F 450 GS will go up against KTM 390 Adventure, Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and the Honda NX500.
