Ex-Ohio State Football Star Is Facing Lengthy Jail Time
Ex-Ohio State Football Star Is Facing Lengthy Jail Time originally appeared on The Spun. An ex-Ohio State Buckeyes football star is facing a long time in prison. Kirk Barton, 40, starred at Ohio State from 2003-07. He was an All-American in his final year with the Buckeyes. Barton, who lives in Columbus, has gone on to become a popular media member in the Ohio State football world. However, tragedy struck on Saturday morning. The ex-Ohio State Buckeyes football star was arrested after being involved in a fatal car accident in Dublin, Ohio - an affluent suburb of Columbus. Barton was allegedly driving at a fast rate of speed when he crashed into another vehicle. Ethan Perry, a 24-year-old Columbus resident, was pronounced dead on the scene. Barton was taken to the hospital to get treated for non-life threatening injuries, before being released into police custody. Barton, who is facing charges of aggravated vehicular manslaughter, is now facing serious prison time. He is likely looking at a possible prison sentence of at least a couple of months, if convicted. "Vehicular homicide is a first-degree misdemeanor when the defendant was driving negligently. If convicted, you face a potential sentence of anywhere from 15 days (the mandatory minimum) to six months in jail. In addition, there is a mandatory suspension of your driver's license from one to five years," Columbus criminal attorney shared. "Vehicular homicide becomes a fourth-degree felony with a possible sentence of up to 18 months in prison if you were driving on a revoked or suspended license or you have a prior conviction for any other traffic-related homicide, manslaughter, or assault." Barton's mugshot is rough to look at, too. "The mugshot is here, and honestly, as somebody that has struggled with alcoholism myself, Barton's friends and family are in my thoughts. I hope he comes out the other side of this," The Rooster shared. Our thoughts are with the friends and family members of the victim on Sunday. May he rest in peace. Mother finds son in car with ex-Columbus charter teacher, leads to sexual battery charge
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A former teacher with a north Columbus charter school faces sexual battery charges after she was reportedly found with a student inside her vehicle. According to a police complaint report, the mother of a 15-year-old boy was unable to locate her son and noticed that his teacher's car was parked in front of her residence. Upon approaching the car, the mother told police she witnessed a woman, a teacher from Horizon Science Academy, jump off the lap of her son, who was seated on the front passenger side of the vehicle. Ex-Ohio State and Olympic wrestler Kyle Snyder speaks at prostitution plea hearing The boy told police that he had been having an inappropriate relationship with 28-year-old Jamelah Daboubi, his English teacher, and admitted that the two were kissing and touching each other while clothed in the car. The incident occurred during the school's spring break on April 2 at around 8 p.m. The victim was taken to The Center for Family Safety and Healing where he participated in a forensic interview in which he relayed similar information that he told police. Police processed the boy's cell phone, where text messages were found between him and Daboubi that supported the alleged inappropriate relationship. Daboubi was arrested Sunday and on Monday a Franklin County Municipal Court judge issued her a $15,000 bond. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for May 28. A statement from the school said Daboubi was immediately placed on administrative leave and is now no longer employed at Horizon Science Academy and that it is fully cooperating with the investigation. Fans Notice Will Howard's Girlfriend's 3-Word Message After Pittsburgh Arrival
The Pittsburgh Steelers decided to not take a quarterback early in the 2025 NFL draft. Instead, they were content to wait until the sixth round to take former Ohio State standout quarterback Will Howard, who led his Buckeyes to a national championship during the 2024 college football season. Howard has big-time potential for the future. However, he does not seem to be a prospect ready to step onto the field immediately and play at an NFL level. The Steelers will need to develop him and bring him along slowly. Advertisement Pittsburgh fans have been excited to welcome Howard to the city. Clearly, Howard and his girlfriend are excited as well. In a post on TikTok, as shared by @Mazursky8895 on X, Howard's girlfriend Skyler Skoglund captured their arrival in Pittsburgh and also sent a three-word message to end the video. "I can't wait," she wrote with a yellow heart emoji at the end. Now, all of the attention for Howard will shift to performing well on the field and learning everything he can from his rookie season with the Steelers. He also ran for 226 yards and seven more scores. Advertisement At 23 years old, the future is bright for the new Pittsburgh quarterback. If the rumors become reality that Aaron Rodgers will sign with the Steelers at some point, Howard would have an opportunity to learn behind one of the greatest to ever play the quarterback position. While Howard and his girlfriend have sent a message about being excited to be in Pittsburgh, the journey is just beginning.
