Training will also cover areas such as health and safety, allergen awareness, and latte art. It will conclude on Thursday, with a free coffee giveaway from 11am to 2pm at the Anderston community hub, where the trainees will get their first taste of working in a busy coffee shop. The newly trained baristas will be responsible for running the coffee bar, giving them real-world experience and preparing them for future employment. Joanne Murray-Zmijewski, who leads Employment Plus in Glasgow, said: "This is more than just a coffee morning. "Through Employment Plus and partners such as Change Please, we are building people's confidence, sharing practical skills, and supporting steps towards independence." The initiative is part of Change Please's Impact Training Programme, which has a 70 per cent success rate of trainees moving into employment or education. It offers people experiencing or at risk of homelessness barista training, a living-wage job, housing support, therapy, access to financial services, and long-term employment pathways. "Having our trainees host a free coffee morning on site is a great opportunity for other organisations we work with and the public to experience the excellent work and support on offer from both of our organisations." Everyone is invited to attend the event on Thursday at The Salvation Army Community Church on Houldsworth Street, where they can enjoy a free coffee and show their support for the trainees. The Salvation Army's Employment Plus service supports people across the country into work, and this initiative is part of their work to help people take steps towards employment.
