Nine children rescued from water and one in hospital after boat capsizes off Antrim coast
Emergency Services at the scene of the ongoing incident in Carrickfergus Nine children are understood to have been among those rescued from the water off the Co Antrim coast in a major operation this evening. One has been taken to hospital, and police said everyone has been accounted for after a boat capsized in the water shortly after 9pm. The PSNI, Ambulance Service, NI Fire and Rescue and Coastguard were all tasked to the scene near Carrickfergus. A spokesman for the NI Ambulance Service said they received a call at 9.14pm following reports of a water-related incident near Carrick Marina. "Early reports indicated that the incident involved nine children and one adult,' he said. The eastbound lanes of Highway 417 reopened to traffic in Ottawa's downtown area Thursday afternoon, after a two-vehicle crash closed the highway for four hours. Emergency crews responded to a call for a crash in the left lane of Highway 417 just before Nicholas Street at 11:55 a.m. An Ottawa Paramedic Service spokesperson said the call was for a vehicle that was rear-ended on the highway, and the vehicle then struck the median. Russian strikes on Odesa kill one, wound at least 13
ODESA: One person was killed and more than a dozen others were wounded in Russia's latest aerial attack on Ukraine, which targeted the southern port city of Odesa, officials said on Friday. Emergency services published images of firefighters helping a woman in pyjamas climb from the window of a housing block in flames. Both Moscow and Kyiv have stepped up their drone and missile attacks after three years of war and peace talks initiated by the United States appear closer to collapse. Ukrainian police said one person was killed and 13 were wounded in Odesa, including three rescue workers who were hurt at the scene of the attack. 'Residential buildings, higher education institutions, civilian infrastructure and transport were damaged by the strike,' said Oleg Kiper, the governor of the Black Sea region. The Ukrainian air force said Russia had launched 86 drones in the barrage and that 70 had been downed by air defense systems. The Russian defense ministry, meanwhile, said its forces had eliminated at least 61 Ukrainian drones. Odesa, one of Ukraine's largest port cities and a UNESCO heritage site, has been under persistent Russian attacks since Moscow invaded its neighbor early in 2022.

One dead after Otago farm crash, one in critical condition after car fire
(File photo) Photo: RNZ One person has died, after a crash on an Otago farm, and another has been critically injured, after a car fire in Otago. Police said one person died at the scene of a crash on a farm near Millers Flat in Central Otago, about 10:30pm Thursday. Three other people had minor to moderate injuries and were taken to hospital. Police are investigating what happened. Meanwhile, another person was flown to hospital in a critical condition, after the car fire at Karitane, north of Dunedin. Emergency services were called to the blaze on Coast Road, shortly after 6am Friday. A St John ambulance spokesperson said crews - including a helicopter - responded and one critically injured patient was flown to Dunedin Hospital. Fire and Emergency shift manager Lyn Crosson said the car was 'well alight' when firefighters from Waikouaiti arrived. "We didn't have to remove anyone from the car," Crosson said. Police said they were making enquiries and that the fire did not appear to be suspicious. Emergency services have also been kept busy in Tasman , where three people have been critically injured in two different car crashes, on Thursday.
