Operation Sindhu: Govt to evacuate Indians who wish to leave Israel

A day after it launched the evacuation of Indians from Iran, the Union government Thursday decided to evacuate citizens who wished to leave Israel under Operation Sindhu. The evacuations come amid the rapidly intensifying conflict between Israel and Iran. Citizens would first be moved from Israel through land borders and then brought by air to India, a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said. 'In view of the recent developments between Israel and Iran, the Government of India has decided to evacuate from Israel those Indian nationals who wish to leave. Their travel from Israel to India will be facilitated through the land borders and thereafter by air to India,' the statement said. The MEA said the Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv would make the required arrangements. It asked all Indian nationals to register themselves with the Embassy at ( if not already registered. 'In case of any queries, they may contact the 24/7 Control Room established at Embassy of India, Tel Aviv: telephone numbers: +972 54-7520711; +972 54-3278392; email: it said. The Embassy also reiterated its earlier advisories urging all Indians in Israel to remain vigilant and follow safety guidelines. 'The Government of India accords the highest priority to the safety and security of Indian nationals abroad. The Government will continue to monitor the situation closely. The Embassy remains continuously in touch with the community with a view to extending all feasible assistance,' the MEA statement said. At least 639 people, including 263 civilians, have been killed in Iran, according to a Washington-based Iranian rights group. More than 1,300 are wounded. In retaliation, Iran has fired some 400 missiles and hundreds of drones, killing at least 24 people in Israel and wounding hundreds.
