Egypt FM reiterates call to ending Israel-Iran military escalation, resume negotiations
CAIRO – 20 June 2025: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty reiterated on Friday Egypt's call for ending the current escalation and resuming negotiations to reach an agreement on Iran's nuclear program. The top diplomat gave the remarks during a phone call with his British counterpart David Lammy that comes as part of intensive contacts over the current military escalation between Israel and Iran. The two ministers exchanged views on the escalating situation, with Abdelatty underlining the need to maintain European efforts and international coordination to contain the crisis and prevent the conflict from expanding. The ministers agreed to maintain close coordination and work hand in hand to de-escalate the situation and make the best use of available diplomatic channels to achieve calm in the region. f

FM heads to Istanbul to attend OIC member states' ministerial meeting
CAIRO – 20 June 2025: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty left for Istanbul on Friday to take part in the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), set to start on Saturday. The two-day meeting is held under the theme: "The Organization of Islamic Cooperation in a Changing World." On the sidelines of the session, Abdelatty is scheduled to hold a series of bilateral meetings aimed at strengthening Egypt's ties with participating states and exchanging views on key regional and international developments.

OPEN// FM warns against expansion of conflict in region
CAIRO, June 20 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty stressed the importance of averting any further escalation of the conflict and preventing the region from sliding into uncontrollable chaos, the repercussions of which would adversely affect all parties involved. This came during two separate phone calls the Minister had with Steve Witkoff, the US President's Special Envoy to the Middle East, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The phone calls were made in accordance with presidential directives to intensify diplomatic efforts aimed at containing the ongoing military escalation between Israel and Iran. Abdelatty reiterated the urgent need to de-escalate tensions, push for an immediate ceasefire, and use all diplomatic channels to prevent further escalation and a wider regional conflict. FM meets with members of Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution and Peacekeeping
CAIRO -19 June 2025: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held a meeting on Thursday with members of the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping, and Peacebuilding (CCCPA) as part of efforts to follow up on the center's activities, particularly regarding peace and security on the African continent. The move comes in preparation for the fifth edition of the Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development. The meeting reviewed the center's recent activities and training programs aimed at enhancing capacity building in areas of conflict resolution, peacekeeping, and peacebuilding, especially in sisterly African countries; within the framework of Egypt's support for the continent's peace and development agenda, the foreign ministry said in a statement. The meeting also touched on ongoing preparations for the fifth edition of the Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development, scheduled for October 19-20, with high-level African and international participation along with thought leaders, entrepreneurs, and civil society organizations. Abdelatty emphasized the pivotal role played by CCCPA as a tool of preventive diplomacy and praised the tangible achievements it has made in recent years as regards training both civilian and military cadres from various countries, thereby enhancing Egypt's status as a regional and international hub of expertise in areas of peace and security. He also affirmed the need to continue developing the center's programs in line with the growing challenges facing peacekeeping and peacebuilding efforts while paying special attention to empowering women and youth in these areas, in accordance with the African Union's Agenda 2063. The foreign minister pointed out the importance of ensuring that the upcoming edition of the Aswan Forum reflects the priorities of the African continent, particularly in light of escalating challenges linked with armed conflicts, climate change, food security, and development crises.

FM discusses with US envoy, Iran FM regional situation
CAIRO – 17 June 2025: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held two separate phone calls Tuesday with US President Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The discussions come in line with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's directives to intensify diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalating the ongoing military tensions between Israel and Iran. During both calls, Abdelatty stressed the urgent need to work toward de-escalation in the region and to pursue diplomatic and political solutions to contain the crisis and avert the risk of a wider conflict in the Middle East, foreign ministry spokesperson Tamim Khallaf said. The minister emphasized the need for an immediate ceasefire and a return to the negotiating table, describing this as the only viable path to reaching a sustainable agreement on Iran's nuclear program. Abdelatty also underscored that military solutions will not resolve the crises facing the region and warned of the dangers of further escalation, which could lead the region into total chaos and inflict harm on all parties involved.
