New transit service for wheelchair users is first in nation, agencies say
Three area transit agencies are testing a service for passengers who use wheelchairs to travel throughout their combined agency borders.
Cincinnati Metro, Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky and Butler County Regional Transit Authority launched their EZConnect pilot on Monday, May 5, to transport customers with any kind of mobility limits.
Customers will pay $8 per ride and complete surveys about the service. They must be certified as eligible under the Americans with Disabilities Act, and seek pickup and drop off within three-quarters of a mile from a Metro, TANK or Butler County RTA route.
The cross-agency service is the first of its kind in the nation, the agencies said in a press release. "EZConnect seeks to create a more integrated transit experience," the release said.
