Dundalk's newly expanded EPSO festival might have been dogged by rain and conspiracy theories but the town has been left with four brilliant new murals and the foundations for what hopefully will become a major summer arts festival in future years.

Tennessee man with dementia missing in El Paso County
(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — A man who went on a road trip to Colorado from Tennessee is now missing, and law enforcement is seeking the public's help to locate him. Roger Jackson, 71, is on a road trip from Tennessee and was supposed to stay near Gold Camp Road, which is currently closed. The road was recently washed out due to rain and will be closed indefinitely. According to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPSO), Jackson has not been heard from since Saturday and he was in El Paso County. EPSO said Jackson is driving a 2013 Chrysler Town and Country with Tennessee license plate BTF5858. He is described as standing at 5'11 and weighing 190 pounds. Deputy tracks down car, identity theft suspect
(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — A woman was arrested after she was allegedly found in possession of the keys to a stolen car, financial documents, as well as methamphetamine. According to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPSO), shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, deputies were conducting a patrol check at the Econo Lodge on Panamint Court, near the intersection of Peterson Road and Highway 24, when they spotted a black Chevrolet Silverado displaying a fake temporary license plate. Further investigation revealed the Chevrolet was reported stolen in March 2025. EPSO said no one was in the car at the time. A search of the Silverado resulted in the discovery of numerous pieces of mail, checks, and other documents bearing the name 'Brandy Cheeks.' Additionally, several checks were found made out to various individuals and businesses, along with multiple blank checks. Deputies contacted the hotel's staff and subsequently located 33-year-old Brandy Cheek in one of the hotel rooms. Cheek was allegedly found in possession of the keys to the stolen Chevy and about .57 grams of meth. She also had an active felony warrant for identity theft. Cheek was arrested and booked into the El Paso County Jail on multiple charges: Felony warrant for identity theft Forgery New charges of identity theft Second degree motor vehicle theft Unlawful possession of a controlled substance Cheek has since been released on bond and is due in El Paso County Court on June 20. Black Forest Fire case remains active 12 years later
(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — June 11 marks 12 years since the deadly Black Forest Fire burned more than 14,000 acres and destroyed 489 homes. On Tuesday, June 11, 2013, the fire broke out and burned for days until it was declared fully contained on Thursday evening, June 20. The El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPSO) has stated in the past that the Black Forest Fire was a 'cold case' due to the passage of time, with no new information. While the origin of the fire is known, the cause has not been determined. FOX21 News reached out to EPSO on the eve of the fire anniversary for an update on the status of the case. 'This case remains active, and no further details can be released at this time,' said a spokesperson with EPSO. Overall, the fire burned 14,280 acres, causing over $420 million in damage to the region. The total cost of fighting the fire was $9.23 million. The fire also claimed the lives of two people, Marck and Robin Hecklotz, who were both longtime members of Space Command and were killed when trying to leave their home in Black Forest. At that time, the wildfire became the most destructive in Colorado's history, surpassing the Waldo Canyon Fire just a year earlier. Since then, the 2021 Marshall Fire in Boulder County became the most destructive. D20 students to reforest a portion of Black Forest scar Reforestation efforts continue in the Black Forest burn scar. Dundalk mural of St Oliver Plunkett became subject of far-right misinformation
The Argus A new mural of St Oliver Plunkett which is being painted by a Spanish artist as part of Dundalk's EPSO festival became the centre of misinformation being spread by far right anti-immigration campaigners over the weekend. As images of the partly completed mural entitled Letters of Light by Catalonian artist Slim Safont emerged online, anti-immigration accounts began sharing posts claiming that it wasn't St Oliver but a portrait of a Muslim, the Prophet Muhammad or even more outlandishly, Mohammed Morei, the 18-year-old convicted of murdering a Japanese worker in Dundalk in 2018.
