Royal Enfield teases new Himalayan 750 and electric variant: What to expect
Royal Enfield has officially teased two new adventure motorcycles—an upsized version of the Himalayan and its electric counterpart—marking the first formal reveal of the larger-capacity Himalayan, reported HT Auto. Both motorcycles were recently taken to Khardung La in Ladakh, one of the highest motorable passes in the world at 18,380 feet, for high-altitude testing. While the electric version has made previous appearances at EICMA in 2023 and 2024, this marks the debut of the new, larger-capacity Himalayan in a semi-camouflaged prototype form. Despite the bodywork being largely concealed, key design cues and mechanical elements are visible. Reportedly, the motorcycle could retain a familiar Royal Enfield silhouette, complete with a conventional front mudguard and an LED headlamp similar to those on other recent models. A windscreen has been added, presumably for improved rider comfort on long-distance rides. Crash guards around the fuel tank—suitable for mounting luggage—remain part of the design. Mechanically, the test mule features upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock. Whether these offer adjustability is currently unknown. The bike could run on spoked wheels, with a 19-inch unit at the front, suggesting a road-biased adventure tourer rather than a hardcore off-roader. Tubeless spoke rims were not seen on the prototype, though such options may be included at launch. Alloy wheels may also be offered as part of the line-up. Royal Enfield appears to have increased the engine displacement from 650 cc to an estimated 750 cc. Output figures have not been confirmed, but the power is expected to be in the region of 55 bhp. Visual differences include a redesigned engine casing, an updated radiator, and an all-new upswept exhaust system—different from the one used on the Interceptor 650. The Himalayan Electric, first introduced as a concept at EICMA, also made its way to Khardung La for testing. The original concept focused heavily on sustainable materials, featuring flax fibre bodywork and a bespoke battery pack. The production-intent version, however, shows several key differences. As per the report, the prototype sports a new aluminium frame configuration—including the main frame, subframe, and swingarm—departing from the brand's typical steel cradle frame. These structural changes are more in line with volume manufacturing while maintaining some of the conceptual design language. The battery housing has also been revised and may now use magnesium alloy materials, possibly inspired by the lightweight construction of the wartime Royal Enfield Flying Flea. Notably, the new version has done away with the beak-style front fender, opting instead for a taller windscreen. The seat is a single-piece unit that flows into a mock fuel tank—likely housing electrical components. A full LED lighting system has been installed, including a projector headlamp and a taillight unit similar to the Himalayan 450's. The frame around the fuel tank area might come with more refined, and the footpeg support structure has also been redesigned. The navigation tower, housing the instrumentation, has undergone changes in this iteration as well. Braking is handled by dual petal discs up front and a single disc at the rear.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 750 and Himalayan Electric teased for the first time
Royal Enfield has been testing the Himalayan Electric and the Himalayan 750 in Ladakh. Notify me Royal Enfield has officially teased the larger Himalayan and Himalayan Electric for the first time. While we have seen the Himalayan Electric previously at the 2023 EICMA as well as the 2024 EICMA, this is the first time that the larger Himalayan makes its debut. Royal Enfield took both motorcycles to Khardungla Pass in Ladakh, which has an altitude of 18,380 feet. Royal Enfield Himalayan 750 The test mules of the new Himalayan have been spotted quite a few times on global as well as Indian roads. The prototype of the Himalayan looks close to production. The body panels were still covered with a black sheet so the overall design of the motorcycle is not visible. The Himalayan 750 gets a new upswept exhaust and a split seat setup. Up-front, there is a normal mudguard, the same LED headlamp that we have seen on other Royal Enfield bikes and there is also a windshield to protect the rider from the windblast. It will continue to come with a guard around the fuel tank, which can also be used to mount things. There are upside-down forks in the front and a monoshock at the rear. As of now, it is not known whether there will be adjustability on offer or not. There are split seats, and the rear tail lamp is taken from the Himalayan 450. It uses spoked wheels, but they are not tubeless units, unlike the Himalayan. However, there is a possibility that at the time of launch, there will be tubeless spoke rims on offer. We expect that there would be alloy wheels on offer as well. Speaking of rims, there is a 19-inch unit in the front, which means that it is not an all-out off-roader. Instead, it is meant for touring. The larger Himalayan could use a larger 750 cc engine that is based on the current 650 cc unit. It is expected that Royal Enfield will bump up to the cubic capacity from 650 cc to 750 cc. So, the power output is expected to be around 55 bhp. The side casing is different and so is the radiator. The manufacturer has made an all-new exhaust system that is side-mounted and upswept. This is not the unit that the brand uses on the Interceptor Bear 650. It might be showcased at EICMA later this year. This is not the first time we have seen the all-electric version of the Himalayan. The brand has showcased it to the world twice before this. The Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric Testbed showcased a body crafted from eco-friendly flax fiber composites, a custom-developed battery pack, gold-colored upside-down front forks, and SM Pro Platinum spoked wheels fitted with Continental block-pattern tyres. While the concept primarily emphasized design innovation and sustainable materials, the recently sighted prototypes suggest the bike is edging closer to production. Unlike the brand's conventional cradle-type chassis, these Ladakh-based test models sport an aluminium frame setup, including the main frame, subframe, and swingarm—similar to the concept bike but appearing more refined for mass production. Significant alterations seem to have been made to the frame, and the battery unit has evolved from what was seen in the original concept. Its enclosure may be crafted from magnesium, similar to what was used in the lightweight Royal Enfield Flying Flea. The Himalayan Electric could share its components with the Flying Flea. One notable change is the removal of the iconic beak-like front mudguard seen on earlier Himalayan models, now replaced by a tall windscreen. The motorcycle features a single-piece seat that flows seamlessly into a mock fuel tank, which likely conceals secondary electrical or mechanical components. The lighting system is now fully LED, featuring a projector-style headlight, integrated turn indicators, and a rear light cluster that resembles the one found on the Himalayan 450. The brace structures near the tank area now appear to be more polished and robust, while the one-piece seat design stretches from the tank region to the tail end. Additionally, the support framework for the rider footpegs has been redesigned. Even the navigation tower housing the instrument display has been updated in this second-generation prototype. Royal Enfield Flying Flea C6 Electric Bike To Launch In 2026
Royal Enfield is preparing to launch its electric motorcycle brand Flying Flea with the first model of its range, C6. Now, the brand has confirmed that this electric two-wheeler will be launched in Q4 of FY 2026, as per ET Auto's report. This will be followed by the introduction of the S6, which will be a completely different product, expanding the lineup. The brand is yet to give some clarity on the operations and dealership network of the new EV brand. The Flying Flea C6 made its first appearance at EICMA and has since been showcased in India. Additionally, the test mule of the motorcycle has been seen undergoing trials on various occasions. The test mule gave a glimpse of how the machine operates, featuring circular LED lighting that reflects the brand's blend of retro and modern styles. Staying true to its heritage, the motorcycle showcases a slender frame with an aluminium chassis and girder forks, a design reminiscent of vintage bikes. In addition, we can observe the split seat configuration and black alloy wheels. The specifications of the bike haven't been disclosed yet. However, we expect it will have a range of approximately 100 km, as it has been tailored for urban environments. To ensure it meets its intended purpose, the manufacturer has prioritized minimizing the machine's weight, keeping it below 100 kg. In addition to its aesthetics, the producer has also heavily invested in the technology integrated into the bike. It can be considered the most feature-laden motorcycle to emerge from Royal Enfield's production line. It will feature a round touchscreen display that facilitates numerous functions such as voice control, connectivity, and more. To support these features, the company has incorporated Qualcomm's Snapdragon processor. During the unveiling, Mario Alvisi, the Chief Growth Officer for Electric Vehicles at Royal Enfield, asserted that the motorcycle would include the most cutting-edge features.

Royal Enfield to launch first e-motorcycle C6 in Q4 FY26
Riding on the bandwagon, Royal Enfield , the motorcycle division of Eicher Motors, will launch its maiden electric motorcycle under the EV sub-brand 'Flying Flea'. The rollout will begin with the introduction of the C6 model during the January–March 2026 quarter, followed by the launch of the S6, the company confirmed. 'Both these products are very different and they are going to come in Q4 FY25-26. It (Flying Flea) is only a starting point, as it can lend itself to the various form factors which we will keep looking at,' B. Govindarajan , Managing Director, Eicher Motors Ltd and CEO, Royal Enfield, told ETAuto. The thought behind Flying Flea is to offer 'urban and city-focused electric two wheelers for the future, which is timeless yet modern technology and design, which is embedded into the motorcycle,' Govindarajan said during the company's post earnings media call. However, the team is still deliberating on the retail strategy for electric motorcycles. 'That's something we're currently evaluating—whether to go with the existing retail format, set up exclusive stores, or adopt a direct-to-consumer (D2C) model. A decision is expected to be finalised by the next quarter.' First unveiled at the International Motorcycle and Accessories Exhibition (EICMA) last year, the motorcycle is currently undergoing testing, with all suppliers already onboarded. With a dedicated EV team of around 250 members, Govindarajan also confirmed that Flying Flea will not be established as a separate subsidiary or business unit at this stage. Instead, it will continue to operate as an integral part of Royal Enfield. While electric scooters continue to dominate India's electric two-wheeler market, the electric motorcycle segment is still occupied by a limited number of startup brands, collectively accounting for around 1,000 units in sales. These include Ultraviolette, Revolt, Hop Electric, Oben, Raptee, Matter, among others.
