Birmingham City want to add their name to the short list of clubs that have achieved back-to-back promotions from League One to the Premier League. Blues made light work of their first promotion, with an EFL-record 111 points, but can they emulate Ipswich? Advertisement While there are stacks of similarities between the two teams, not least the playing style and the fact Blues already have an XI in place to hit the ground running in August, there is one major difference. Ipswich were able to travel under the radar to begin with, whereas Blues won't be afforded that luxury due to their record-breaking season and their transfer spend last summer, not to mention the £3 billion Sports Quarter that is bubbling away in the background. Ipswich supporter and EFL vlogger Benjamin Bloom told the Keep Right On Podcast: 'The one thing that Ipswich had that Birmingham City categorically will not is the whole world and his mother can see Birmingham coming. The club were late with wages in March, but they were paid in full, so that does not count under FIFA regulations, while April was also satisfied. The EFL announced on Wednesday the Owls will be unable to pay transfer or loan fees until January 2027. This means they can only go for free transfers or loans with no money changing hands between clubs. Fans are worried that the chaos could seriously rip the heart out of their club and further rile them against the Thai businessman, who has previously dubbed the supporters as 'selfish'. Meanwhile, former owner Milan Mandaric has jetted to the country for talks to help save his old club. The Serbian chief was in charge of the Owls between 2010 and 2015 before selling them to the current owner for £37.5million.

Exeter City sign defender Woodhouse
Exeter City have signed former Wycombe Wanderers defender Luca Woodhouse on a two-year 20-year-old was a free agent after leaving the Chairboys this summer and Exeter have an option to extend Woodhouse's deal by a further 12 months. Woodhouse can play as a left-sided central defender or in the middle of the back three, but is also able to play at left-back and central spent last season on loan at National League sides Aldershot Town and Dagenham and Redbridge and played twice in the EFL Trophy for Wycombe."He is a young player with a bright future," Exeter boss Gary Caldwell told the club website."Left-footed centre-backs are hard to find and Luca comes with League One experience, having come from Wycombe, and experience of playing games at National League level."We believe he can make the step up and contribute.
