Godiva Japan adds Dubai Chocolate treats to its menu for a limited time

Three limited-edition desserts are heaven for pistachio lovers. In 2023, a chocolate bar created by a chocolatier in Dubai went viral online, with people raving about the unique filling made with pistachio and kadayif, finely shredded phyllo dough. The combination of chocolate, kadayif and pistachio quickly became known as 'Dubai Chocolate', and now big brands around the world are producing their own versions, including Godiva, which is adding three delicious incarnations of the sweet to its menu for a limited time. ▼ Godiva is the place to be this summer, and the branch in Hibiya is particularly beautiful, with large windows and leafy views. ▼ The best seat in the house has views out to the Godzilla statue at Hibiya Tokyo Midtown. We were invited to try the new treats, two of which will be released on 20 June, and when we slipped into a comfortable booth we were immediately inspired by the giant neon sign on the wall. A trip to Godiva is a treat that really does help to elevate our everyday, especially with the new Dubai Chocolate Chocolixir on the menu. Available in two sizes — Regular (270 millilitres [9 ounces]) for 810 yen (US$5.61) and Large (350 millilitres) for 920 yen — this is an incredibly decadent drink topped with a mound of Belgian chocolate-infused whipped cream. ▼ The cream is sprinkled with roasted pistachios for crunch and flavour. Delving into the Chocolixir reveals this really is an elevated drink, with a thick, creamy and delightfully icy green body delivering deliciously nutty flavours to the taste buds. What really makes this a standout beverage, though, is the small shreds of crispy kadayif interspersed throughout, which surprise the palate with every sip, crunching like sweet slivers of baked biscuit in an exciting, satisfying way. The combination is like a drinkable Dubait chocolate, and just when you think things can't get any better, the chain has another treat to entice you — the Dubait Chocolate Parfait (1,890 yen). This spectacularly assembled parfait is like a work of art, with each layer carefully designed to complement and contrast those beside it. The flavour journey begins with a swirl of whipped cream and a scoop of pistachio ice cream topped with pistachio sauce, all nestled atop a layer of rich pistachio cream. Beneath the topping is a disc of chocolate ice cream and an airy layer that looks like a chocolate display case. There are lots of treasures to be found on this level, with cubes of gateau chocolate, beautiful rolled chocolate pieces resembling roses, and a crunchy Dubai chocolate-inspired shard. Unearthing the special gateau chocolate, with its powdered chocolate coating, will put a big smile on your dial, and its soft, gooey, rich sweetness will elevate you right up to chocolate heaven. With a delicate shard of chocolate poking out the top of the parfait, you're spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing your next mouthful. You can devour the chocolate from the get-go, or if you're like us, choose to nibble on the shard gradually, as it has a wonderful crunch that contrasts beautifully with the smooth creaminess of the parfait. Even the creamy components have different variations of richness to keep the palate excited, ranging from soft and light whipped cream to thick, chunky ice cream and incredibly airy mousse-like cream. The pistachio flavours are superb, intertwining elegantly with the Belgian chocolate for an explosion of flavours that's both refined and deeply satisfying. ▼ Every spoonful unearths hidden treasures. The deliciousness is truly extraordinary, so much so that it won't take long until you're at the bottom of the glass, where the layer of chocolate takes over, creating swirls of decadence that Dubai chocolate lovers will adore. The bottom layer is a delightful sendoff containing pistachio purin and sauce, dark chocolate mousse, and chocolate mocha sauce. Unlike the Chocolixir, which is available at all Godiva outlets, you'll have to dine in for this special parfait, which is limited to the following Godiva Cafe branches: Tokyo, Iidabashi, Nihonbashi, Minato Mirai, Omiya, Futako Tamagawa, Koshigaya Aeon Lake Town Mori, Hibiya, Diamor Osaka. Wrapping up the proceedings is the Dubai Chocolate Coronet (507 yen), which is exclusive to the Godiva Bakery head branch in Tokyo. This baked treat is the perfect answer to the question 'What if Godiva made a colonnade inspired by Dubai chocolate?' The result is an innovative coronet, featuring a glossy brioche stuffed with Dubai Chocolate ingredients. ▼ Inside is a rich pistachio cream, with roasted pistachios to finish. As you eat the coronet you'll find a tantalising surprise in the form of a whole bar of Dubai Chocolate, with kadayif pieces creating a beautiful crunch to contrast with the chewiness of the brioche and the smoothness of the cream. The Dubai Chocolate Coronet is one of the most delicious baked items we've ever had, and it's available from 4 June to 3 July, although it might disappear earlier as it's only being made in limited numbers. As for the Dubai Chocolate Chocolixir and the Dubai Chocolate Parfait, they'll be available for a limited time from 20 June, only while stocks last. I tried the new viral Dubai chocolate ice cream served at a top London attraction – it was a huge disappointment

NEARLY every food brand has hopped on the Dubai chocolate trend - and I tried out the most recent one that has gone viral online. Made up of a concoction of pistachio cream mixed with shredded filo pastry, all coated in a silky chocolate case - it's no surprise this choccie bar has taken the world by storm. 4 Chocaholics across the globe are so enamoured by it that Dubai's Duty Free sold an eye-watering $22million (£16million) of the bars in just the first three months of 2025. And now, the viral creation has landed in London's Borough Market, served in ice cream form. After clocking the gelato treat on social media - several chocolate-y scoops dripping in lashings of pistachio sauce and served in a pistachio-rimmed cone - I couldn't resist giving it a try. Afterall, we are in the midst of a heatwave and what better way to cool off? The treat hails from a small cafe, Gelateria 3Bis, at the edge of the market, which also sells flakey pastries and baked goods. I was pleasantly surprised to find no queue on a Tuesday lunchtime in 25C sunshine, but perhaps I should have taken that as a sign of things to come. Behind the counter were neat slices of apple and almond tart, slathered in a shiny glaze (£3.50); wedges of a crumbly looking walnut tart (also £3.50); and stacks of cannolis with thick ricotta filling oozing out of each case (£2). They certainly got my stomach gurgling. 'One Dubai chocolate please,' I say. I practically drooled as the lady leaned into the metal tub to scoop the chocolate-y mixture into my cone, waiting for the pistachio magic to happen. Foodies race to buy new Dubai chocolate Easter egg in popular supermarket - the 'filling is crazy' and it's selling FAST 4 But then, nothing. That was it - and a rather naked-looking gelato was handed over to me. Where was my pistachio sauce? Where were the sprinkles I'd seen decadently splashed over the top? And, more importantly, where was the pistachio and filo filling that makes Dubai chocolate what it is? After shelling out a staggering £6.50, I walked away realising that this was a classic case of Insta vs reality trickery. Perhaps I had misordered, I thought. But it couldn't be that. I'd even mentioned that I'd seen it advertised on the cafe's Instagram. Unlike the sensation I'd seen on social media, my two-scoop treat was lacking in decadence. 4 4 I'd been asked if I wanted a 'special cone', not realising that the pistachio cone I'd seen wasn't part of this category – it had apparently been placed in a league of its own. The special cones cost an additional £1.50 and are essentially just a traditional waffle cone dipped in chocolate and then covered in some form of topping like hazelnut or sprinkles. I'm not sure why the pistachio hadn't been offered to me, but when I saw the price - over £2 - I was a little relieved. In terms of flavour, it hit the mark for a decent chocolate gelato: creamy, smooth and indulgent, but not too sweet. And after tucking in, I did notice the odd fleck of green accompanied by a few pastry shards, but these were minimal and the pistachio flavour did not come through at all. I didn't have time to ponder over how little filling was in there, though, as my scoops were melting rapidly. This is the sign of a well-made gelato, I am told, but this seemed a bit extreme. Barely a minute had passed and I was already frantically wiping the melt from my hands and arm. As for the cone, the chocolate rim added a little extra zing to the overall flavour. But I wouldn't be willing to shell out an additional £1.50 again. Perhaps I can't blame it all on the ice cream itself. Maybe the sauce costs extra and the sprinkles do too. But i couldn't see it advertised on the boards and the fact that staff didn't point it out to me when I ordered seems an oversight, not least to say, financially-daft. I reckon if I'd have had the full shebang I would have ended up forking out close to a tenner. So, Dubai chocolate ice cream? Let's not spoil something good. Especially not for prices like this.

Tesco is selling another viral Dubai-style chocolate bar, and it's currently on offer

We have no doubt that you've heard about the viral chocolate craze that's all over our social media feeds – Dubai chocolate. The original bars combine the indulgent flavours of chocolate, pistachio and tahini with filo pastry, taking inspiration from the Middle Eastern dessert, knafeh. Knafeh is a dessert made with spun pastry dough layered with cheese. It's then soaked in a sweet, sugary syrup and finished with crushed pistachios. Fix Chocolatier in the UAE combined these flavours into their popular chocolate bar, 'can't get knafeh of it'. Although the Dubai-based chocolatiers have been in business since 2021, the chocolate has gone viral this year. Dubai chocolate has racked up more than 120 million views on TikTok, and it's so popular that the £15 bars of chocolate are only available for a few hours each day. Following its popularity, we've seen Waitrose limit customer purchases on Dubai-style chocolate, Aldi sell out of a pistachio crème, and even international nut shortages. M&S has had to restock its viral big daddy pistachio bar week after week as the whopping block of chocolate continues to fly off the shelves. Although fans of Fix Chocolatier's Dubai chocolate would say that nothing measures up to the original, many well-known chocolate brands are getting in on the action, creating sell-out bars that offer pistachio lovers a more accessible taste of the goods – well, if you can get your hands on them. Godiva is the latest brand to release a crispy, creamy and nutty bar to shelves. This is everything you need to know. Godiva's pistachio and kadayif milk chocolate bar weighs 122g and brings together smooth and velvety milk chocolate with the delicate crunch of kadayif, a type of shredded filo dough used in Middle Eastern and Balkan desserts. While not exactly the same as knafeh, used in the original bars, the only difference is that kadayif is the type of shredded dough itself, rather than knafeh, which is the dessert that uses kadayif as its base. As you bite into the creamy chocolate, you'll experience rich, nutty flavours, with a blend of sweet and aromatic notes, and plenty of crispy texture. The bar sells for £10, but right now, with a Tesco Clubcard, you can get a taste of Dubai's much-loved chocolate treat for £7.95. Be quick, though – we don't expect the bars to hang around for long.

Morrisons selling first 'Dubai chocolate' cream liqueur and it's under £10

Morrisons has unveiled the UK's first Dubai Chocolate inspired cream liqueur - and it's sure to be a hit with fans of the viral flavour. What's even better is that it costs less than £10 Morrisons is causing a stir with their latest creation – the Donovan's Dubai Chocolate Style Country Cream Liqueur, inspired by the Dubai Chocolate trending food craze that's been sweeping social media. Merging classic chocolaty goodness and rich pistachio notes in a sumptuous cream liqueur format, this indulgence promises a delightfully sweet end to any meal. Perfect for sipping over ice or adding a swirl to vanilla or chocolate ice cream for an inventive dessert float, the supermarket product is set to be a hit at outdoor gatherings in the sunny weather. What's even better is that it costs under £10 at just £7 a bottle (70cl). ‌ The new product comes after Morrisons ' introduced another Dubai Chocolate-inspired product earlier this year – its Flair Pistachio Kunafa Dubai Chocolate Cake Bar, priced at £4 for a 55g serving. ‌ However, the cake bar got mixed feedback from shoppers at the time, who took to the internet to share their thoughts. One satisfied customer expressed: "Worth every penny as I've spent £65 on one large bar from another company and enjoyed this better for under £5." In contrast, another grumbled about the cost, saying: "It tastes so good but it way too expensive." Another critic weighed in. stating: "I personally think it's horrid... and not worth the £4." While yet another lamented: "It's not worth the money." One more disgruntled customer chimed in: "£4 a bar, not paying that." Morrisons has also been in the news this week as it's been urged to make a 'major change' in its stores. Both Sainsbury's and Morrisons have been told to stop "advertising and promoting" heated tobacco products, which produce vapours containing nicotine, rather than smoke.

Morrisons is first supermarket to launch ‘viral' TikTok tipple for just £7 – & it'll upgrade your summer garden parties

It is the latest product to be inspired by this year's breakout food trend COCKTAIL HOUR Morrisons is first supermarket to launch 'viral' TikTok tipple for just £7 – & it'll upgrade your summer garden parties MORRISONS has unveiled the very first 'Dubai Chocolate'-inspired cream liqueur – and it should help sweeten any garden party. Donovan's Dubai Chocolate Style Country Cream Liqueur has been inspired by this year's breakout food trend that kickstarted viral ripples on social media. Advertisement 1 The cocktail combines chocolate, pistachio and cream liqueur The tipple combines the classic chocolate and nutty pistachio flavouring to deliver a deliciously sweet digestif cream liqueur. Donovan's Dubai Chocolate Style Country Cream Liqueur is available in Morrisons stores nationwide and online for just £7 (70cl). It comes after Lidl was forced to place a shopping limit on its Dubai Chocolate-inspired exotic treat. The Della Sante Dubai Style Chocolate Cream spread combines the flavours of the insanely popular chocolate but in spreadable form. Advertisement That means you can slather it on toast, pile it onto pancakes, dip fruit in it or even spoon it from the jar. The sweet and salty pots cost £4.99 or £3.99 for Lidl Plus members, which is far more expensive than the store's other chocolate spreads. However, the price tag is not deterring customers, and the shop was forced to implement a strict three-jar-only policy. The Sun recently spotted a queue outside the Gosport, Hampshire, store at 8am with shoppers eagerly waiting for the doors to open. Advertisement Chocolate fans have been going crazy for supermarket dupes of the expensive Dubai chocolate bars and they've been going viral on social media. Foodies race to buy new Dubai chocolate Easter egg in popular supermarket - the 'filling is crazy' and it's selling FAST Lidl's version was the cheapest when it was brought out at £3.99. Before it arrived in stores, the chocolate bar had been available on Lidl's TikTok Shop. It wasn't around for long though as it sold out in a mere 84 minutes. Advertisement Numerous supermarkets and bargain stores have been jumping on the Dubai-style chocolate trend. One of the most-anticipated was the M&S version, which it turned out was a new take on the viral Big Daddy chocolate bar. The Big Daddy Pistachio is on the pricier end, costing £8.50 for a big 280g bar. Similarly posh supermarket Waitrose also released a version for £10. Advertisement Despite the price, it was so popular the retailer had to impose a two-bar limit on shoppers. FSA issues warning over Dubai-style products A WARNING has been issued for Dubai-style chocolate products over concerns for customer health. The FSA issued a warning on June 12 urging customers to remain cautious when purchasing the trendy chocolate product. It comes after the watchdog identified a number of products that pose a health risk to customers with allergies. Imported products may not be intended for sale within the UK and might not comply with UK labelling laws, meaning allergens might not be accurately labelled. Other products may contain additives and colours which are banned in the UK market. An investigation is underway as the FSA is surveying and sampling the products to work out how widespread the issue is. They are also working alongside allergy charities to raise awareness of the risks to customer health. While they reported that "most" of the Dubai-style chocolates available in UK shops was safe, customers are asked to remain vigilant and to report any concerns to your local authority. Sainsbury's started selling a Lindt version of the Dubai-style chocolate for £10. Iceland is selling two different bars: the Nelino Dubai-Style Chocolate (£2 for 62g) and Bolci Dubai Chocolate (£5 for 100g).
