Teenager dies while swimming in River Nanny in Meath
A body has been recovered after a swimmer was reported missing in Laytown, Co Meath, this evening. It is understood that a group of teenage boys had been swimming in the water near Laytown Beach. The teenagers were in the River Nanny underneath the footbridge in Laytown before one of them was reported missing by a member of the public shortly before 6.15pm. The Dublin-based Irish Coast Guard Rescue 116 helicopter was at the scene within 25 minutes and the Drogheda Coast Guard Unit attended the scene a short time later. A body was subsequently recovered from the water by the Coast Guard shortly after 9.30pm. A teenage boy was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been taken to Our Lady's Hospital in Navan, where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.

Search under way for teenage swimmer off Meath coast
A search operation has been launched after a swimmer was reported missing in Laytown, Co Meath this evening. The teenage boy was reported missing by a member of the public just before 6.15pm. The Dublin-based Irish Coast Guard Rescue 116 helicopter and the Drogheda Coast Guard Unit were tasked to respond to the incident. The helicopter and coast guard unit were at the scene just before 6.40pm. Gardaí and a unit of the National Ambulance Service are also at the scene. The search for the swimmer remains ongoing.

Two fishermen rescued after vessel sinks overnight
Two fishermen have been rescued from the sea off the north east coast after their fishing vessel sank overnight. The Dublin-based Irish Coast Guard helicopter R116 located the men in the water early this morning off Drogheda in Co Louth. The Coast Guard Marine Rescue Coordination Centre in Dublin was alerted shortly before midnight following the detection of an Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon Transmission. The R116 helicopter, Drogheda Coast Guard Unit and Clogherhead RNLI were dispatched to the area. The Coast Guard helicopter, which was conducting overnight training at the time, used its night vision infrared system, night vision goggles and other search tools to locate and recover the two men from the water. The men, who had been wearing life jackets, were taken to hospital for medical attention.
