A trio of St Asaph players are in the North Wales 12, with Dan Evans and Matt Ryan also included. Hawarden Park's Evan Shaw is included, alongside Bangor pair Nat Scott and Jamie Grimshaw, Menai Bridge's Patrick Glover, Neston's Ben Beaver (pictured above), Nantwich's Jason Foulkes and Newtown's Griff Davies. The line-up is completed by Denbigh duo Harrison Jones and Ranija Abeysinghe. North Wales will look to build on their 71-run success versus Shropshire Academy last time out. Harrison Jones (71), Brymbo's Sam Aplin (54) and Will Ryan (52 not out) pushed North Wales to 295 for four, before three wickets apiece from Jason Foulkes and Matt Russell played their part in the home side's 224 all out.

New Bahraini football season set to kick off in September
The Bahrain Football Association (BFA) has officially announced the schedule for the 2025–2026 domestic football season, confirming the return of the Nasser bin Hamad Premier League on 11 September 2025. The national football calendar will run through to 31 May 2026, with dates for league and cup competitions across all levels now in place. Full Domestic Calendar Outlined The upcoming season will begin on 1 September with the launch of youth-level competitions. The second-tier league, Bahrain's Division Two, will commence later in the year, with fixtures set to get underway on 15 October 2025. Cup Competitions Slated for January The BFA also confirmed the start dates for Bahrain's two major cup competitions. The prestigious King's Cup will kick off on 10 January 2026, while the Khalid bin Hamad Cup, a key tournament in the national football landscape, is scheduled to start shortly after on 21 January 2026. Both competitions are expected to draw significant interest from clubs and supporters alike, particularly as cup fixtures often provide a stage for emerging talents and unexpected results.

Lancashire will be captained by James Anderson in their next two County Championship matches, with the 42-year-old stepping into an interim role due to Marcus Harris returning to Australia for the birth of his child. Anderson has only played once in the Championship this season, after a calf injury ruled him out for the first six weeks, but has been in good form in the Vitality Blast. He is set to lead the side against Kent in Blackpool starting on Sunday, in what will be his first experience of captaining a professional XI. Anderson will become Lancashire's third red-ball captain this summer, with Harris having succeeded Keaton Jennings after a difficult start to the season that also cost Dale Benkenstein his job as head coach. "Jimmy [Anderson] will lead the side and it is exciting for him and us," Steven Croft, Lancashire's interim head coach, told the BBC. "He has captained only once and that was in a pre-season tour T20 game in Dubai so it will be nice for Jimmy and nice for the lads. "He has obviously got a lot to offer on and off the field. It will be a proud moment for him. It is not obviously all on Jimmy but it helps and his presence, particularly as captain, is a massive boost for the rest of the lads." Lancashire are currently second from bottom in Division Two, having drawn five and lost two of their seven games, but they have enjoyed a successful start to the Blast, winning four of six to sit third in the North Group. Anderson has played his part, returning to the format after more than a decade and taking ten wickets in four matches. The Blast will break after Friday's fixtures for two rounds of the Championship, with Lancashire facing Kent at home before a trip to play Derbyshire at Chesterfield. Harris will miss both games, but Lancashire will be able to call on Australian overseas signings Ashton Turner and Chris Green.
