Marchwiel and Wrexham end Corwen's unbeaten run this season
Division Two leaders Corwen headed into their latest fixture boasting an unbeaten record, but Marchwiel and Wrexham managed to end this in thrilling fashion. It wasn't a day for batsmen at War Memorial Park, though, with the visitors' 40 overs yielding 117 for nine. Sam Shoemark and Darshana Sanjeewa both contributed 28 to the effort, as Will Roberts picked up 3-17. Despite an unbeaten knock of 46 from Iwan Lloyd, Corwen's reply was ended on 111 with two balls remaining. Scott Lawrenson (3-26) and Muhammad Ghufran (2-21) were the pick of the Marchwiel and Wrexham attack. Most of the Division Two matches were close encounters, but Carmel & District managed to buck this trend with their 145-run triumph at home to Pontblyddyn Seconds. Supun Eranga hit a stunning 100 in Carmel's initial 223 for seven (Ben Sim 45, Maneesha Ayomal Nissanka 33). Seb Jackson claimed 3-38 for Pontblyddyn, who responded with 78 (Dave Evans 46, Amer Jamil 5-13). Abergele squeaked past Pwllheli by nine runs, while seven runs was the margin of victory for Menai Bridge Seconds away to Ruthin, whose Osian Roberts claimed three wickets and hit 51. In the main, it was a day for the bowlers, but Bersham's batsmen made hay to achieve 236 for nine in 40 overs. Aneesh Pattali led the way with 43, while five of his team-mates made contributions in the 20s. Keith Embleton (3-40) was the pick of the bowlers for Mold, whose response realised 185 for nine (David Graham 69, Farhan Abdulla 4-39, Salu Sebastian 3-23). Buckley Seconds climbed into the promotion spots via a comprehensive nine-wicket victory over Llandudno Seconds, who were all out for 55 (Matthew Blunden 5-8). Park had set 128 (Ben Callow 3-27). Craig Wilson and Thomas Phillips both bagged 2-2 as Hawarden Park Seconds defeated Gresford Seconds (Oliver Jones 2-16) by five wickets. Leaders Denbigh Seconds eased to a six-wicket success at home to Caernarfon while Mynydd Isa & Maeshafn's undefeated Division Four run was halted by an eight-wicket reverse at Connah's Quay Seconds. Weekend fixtures confirmed as Kildare get Newbridge double header
The revamped Cedral St Conleth's Park will host a Kildare double header on Saturday. Fresh from their superb Joe McDonagh Cup final win over Laois, the Kildare hurlers are back in action six days later as they face Dublin in the All-Ireland preliminary hurling quarter-final in Newbridge, which, at the very least, will act as a useful barometer for manager Brian Dowling ahead of their return to the Leinster SHC in 2026. The game will have a 4pm throw-in and will be followed by the Kildare footballers' Tailteann Cup quarter-final against Offaly, which gets underway at 6.30pm. It will be the third meeting of the counties this year after they were paired together in this morning's draw, with Offaly beating Kildare in round six of the League and again in the Division Three final at Croke Park. There's another repeat of a League final with Wexford travelling to Limerick, who beat them in the Division Four decider. That quarter-final will take place on Sunday at the TUS Gaelic Grounds. The other two quarter-finals see Wicklow entertain Westmeath in Aughrim, also on Sunday afternoon, with Fermanagh at home to Sligo on Saturday. The Laois-Tipperary hurling preliminary quarter-final will be played on Saturday afternoon at Laois Hire O'Moore Park at 1.45pm as O'Moore boss Tommy Fitzgerald faces the difficult task of getting his players up for a game against top tier opposition just days after losing a season-defining game. Tailteann Cup quarter-finals Saturday, June 14 Fermanagh v Sligo, Brewster Park, 5pm. Kildare v Offaly, Cedral St Conleth's Park, 6.30pm. Sunday, June 15 Wicklow v Westmeath, Echelon Park, 1.15pm. Limerick v Wexford, TUS Gaelic Grounds, 3.45pm. All-Ireland hurling preliminary quarter-finals Laois v Tipperary, Laois Hire O'Moore Park, 1.45pm. Kildare v Dublin, Cedral St Conleth's Park, 4pm.
