The best ways to do your laundry, according to an expert on the chore
How to have your laundry come out perfect How to have your laundry come out perfect How to have your laundry come out perfect It's something we do every week — for some of us, every day. The average American family washes about 300 loads of laundry per year. When it comes to laundry, Patric Richardson, "The Laundry Evangelist," is a whisperer of sorts. He got his first toy washing machine for Christmas at 3 years old, and created Mona Williams, a natural cleaning store at Mall of America He's even starred in a Discovery+ show to share his laundry expertise. "The biggest question I get is how much detergent," he said. He believes most of us are overdoing it. "I'm a fan of soap, much less common product. For soap, use one tablespoon for a full load of laundry. If you are going to use commercial laundry from the store, it's two tablespoons. That's all," Richardson said. "People love to ask about dingy white. It's because they are using too much detergent. Because the detergent is holding all the dirt from the washing machine, and it has nowhere to go, so it settles back into your clothes. So more soap does not yield cleaner results." As for the the temperature, Richardson suggests warm water. "I never use cold because we live in Minnesota and our water is too cold. I always use warm because its warm enough to activtate the detergent but its not hot enough to do any damage," Richardson said. No matter the color he says, "I use warm for everything." As for germs, he says its OK to wash bath towels with kitchen towels. "They are gonna come clean, you don't have to worry," Richardson said. Nor does he worry about dryer sheets. "No, we never need dryer sheets, never ever ever. The coat, the fabric, they make it harder to remove stains," Richardson said. He suggests removing the dread. "You absolutely can have fun when you do laundry," Richardson said. "You should hang a disco ball in your laundry room. You should get some candy and crank up some music and get a decent light." Richardson also advises people to skip fabric softener, saying if you use less detergent, your clothes will be soft enough. As for washing your bed sheets, he suggests once a week.

Premier League football set for yet another new live streaming home
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Credit: Liverpool FC / Getty Images Quick Summary Warner Bros Discovery will reportedly split into two companies again, with different services and shows being moved around. Advertisement One confirmed outcome is that TNT Sports streaming will switch from Discovery+ to HBO Max when it launches in the UK and Ireland next year. We've had a fair few streaming homes for live Premier League football matches over the years. Amazon, BT Sport and Discovery+ have each shown games on their streaming services. And that's on top of Sky's own services, including Now. It has meant that if you're a die-hard fan who struggles to get to the games yourself, you've had to shell out for numerous paid subscriptions to follow your team on TV and online. However, it looks like we'll soon get another. Advertisement The owner of TNT Sports and Discovery+ is reportedly going through a shake-up, with the parent company Warner Bros Discovery said to be splitting again after merging just three years ago. And, as part of the split, international sports coverage will be heading to HBO Max. It's claimed that includes TNT Sports' Premier League rights. Earlier this year, TNT Sports extended its rights package with the Premier League to continue to show 52 live matches per season up to and including the 2028/29 season. They can be seen on traditional broadcast platforms (with a subscription), but are also hosted by Discovery+. But it is now said (via RXTV) that the Discovery+ streaming service is heading to a newly formed Global Networks division as part of the WBD split, along with standard live TV services, such as Quest and the Food Network. Advertisement A new Streaming & Studios business will take on HBO, HBO Max and all sports services outside of the US. A spokesperson for WBD confirmed to RXTV that TNT Sports will be part of HBO Max when it launches in the UK and Ireland in early 2026. What about Sky's Premier League coverage? Sky's Premier League coverage will be untouched by the WBD split. Indeed, it is ramping up the amount of live matches it will offer across Sky Glass, Sky Stream, Sky Q and Now to 215 from next season. That's a dramatic increase on the 128 matches it broadcast in 2024/25. Ironically though, Sky will lose exclusive rights to HBO programming from the end of 2025. It has been the home of the likes of Game of Thrones, Succession and The Last of Us for many years, but the arrival of HBO Max means those shows will be available across multiple platforms from next year. Sky has struck a deal to carry HBO Max on its TV services though, so you'll still get to see them there too.

Controversial family's reality show AXED after being slated by critics and sparking swathes of viewer complaints
A controversial family's reality show has been cancelled after being slated by critics and sparking swathes of viewer complaints. Meet The Rees-Moggs, which hit our screens on Discovery+ in December last year, follows the life of British politician Jacob Rees-Moggs, wife Helena and their kids Mary, Peter, Thomas, Anselm, Alfred and Sixtus. After just one series, it has been confirmed that the show won't be returning. A TV insider told The Sun: 'Although the critics seemed to lap up the ridiculousness of the show, it didn't quite get the response from audiences they had hoped for. 'Though it was easy to see how the series could run and run, the feeling among the execs was this should be a one-off capturing of a moment in time, namely the last general election.' MailOnline has contacted Discovery+ for comment. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. The show's IMDB synopsis reads: 'Unprecedented access to Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg, and his extraordinary family as he fights for his political life and fails to keep his seat. 'Can the Rees-Moggs cope with life in the political wilderness?' Many rushed to the website to share their thoughts on the programme, with admitting that they are not a fan of it. 'Can't believe I watched all five episodes.' 'Why??' 'I'd much rather watch someone fold their socks and gently pick their nasal hair then this rubbish.' Meanwhile others were actually a fan of the series. 'Brilliant!' Controversial family's reality show AXED after being slated by critics and sparking swathes of viewer complaints 'I absolutely loved this. I don't agree with Jacob on everything but I found him endearing and quirky.' Jacob started his investment portfolio at the age of ten, dragged his life-long nanny around with him on political campaigns and has even been dubbed a 'sex god' by Made in Chelsea 's Georgia Toffolo. Former Conservative MP for North East Somerset, husband and father-of-six Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg clearly thought his life was interesting enough to warrant a Kardashian-esque TV series documenting it. But critics who suffered through the show on Discovery+ have dubbed it 'boring, vapid and unfair on the kids' and said even those who want to 'hate-watch' will be 'disappointed'. However, among the storm of disapproval there are some cheers for the GB News presenter's wife and heir to a £45million fortune, Helena. The Independent's Nick Hilton said the show entered 'murkier ethical grounds' when it showed Rees-Mogg's sons, Anselm, 12, Alfred, 8, and Sixtus, 7, shouting 'Vote Conservative!' down a megaphone and dressing up in black tie to eat birthday cake. He asked if the children, 'innocent of their own privilege still', would come to 'regret their part in propagandising for the silver spoon brigade' and said he feels it's 'not fair' on them as 'non-consenting participants'. Nick rounded up his review by writing: 'Those expecting a hate-watch will be disappointed; those expecting a political hagiography will find it vapid.' Meanwhile, Rachel Cook from The New Statesman, who attended the press screening, said she 'found it hard to laugh' along with other journalists at parts that were clearly meant to be funny. Explaining her 'stony face', she said: 'This TV show, however risible it may be, is nevertheless still a reward for Rees-Mogg's role in the huge and multifarious political failures of the last decade, as well as for his facile, not to say toxic, contribution to the public discourse.' Over at The Standard, Martin Robson said the 'fairly humdrum world we are given access to' is 'very different to The Kardashians'. He called the show 'a pushover' and 'a disappointment' for its focus on 'showing Rees-Mogg as a classic British twit' instead of 'digging into what makes him one of the country's most controversial politicians'. Martin criticised the show's lack of 'teeth', 'access' and 'drama', labelling the politician as 'just not that interesting'. The first episode commences with Jacob Rees-Mogg declaring: 'I think this will be a different kettle of fish to The Kardashians.' But The Telegraph's Anita Singh disagrees, writing: 'The longer you watch, the more you realise that he has more in common with Kim Kardashian than he would admit. 'Both thrive on attention and publicity, and their image is carefully cultivated: a sex bomb in Kardashian's case, an eccentric toff in Rees-Mogg's.' Elsewhere, Chloe Govan from The Express said the politician is 'possibly' out of touch but called it 'compelling viewing' otherwise. The series was set to document Rees-Mogg and family during the lead up to an Autumn election but former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called it on early, leaving them scraping the barrel for content The family were left scraping the barrel for content after their father lost his seat to Labour MP Dan Norris whilst stood next to a man in a baked bean balaclava from the Monster Raving Loony Party. The shows opening statement asked: 'How will the family adjust to life after politics?' To which Scott Bryan over at Yahoo! News said: 'I can't know for sure, but has this been a question that anyone has asked? Is anyone being kept up at night wondering how the former Conservative MP for North East Somerset and his family will adjust to a life after politics?' After watching the first two episodes, Scott described the show as 'completely and utterly, indescribably boring'. The Guardian's Lucy Mangan called Rees-Mogg 'an absolute berk' for signing up to do the reality show but said her 'obsession with Jacob's wife runs deep' and that she had 'pledged allegiance' to her by the end. The Daily Mail's Jane Fryer shared the same sentiment for Helena, calling her 'funny and surprisingly straightforward for someone whose mother has five Van Dycks and two Stubbs paintings'. Jane said the 'genius' of the show was 'getting the kids involved' and admitted that it is 'strangely addictive'.

Fly-on-the wall reality show following very unlikely TV star and his family ends after just one series
BEING TV's poshest ever reality show hasn't saved Meet The Rees-Moggs. I can reveal the fly-on-the-wall documentary featuring top Tory toff Jacob Rees-Mogg and his family, which launched with a blaze of publicity last year, has been axed and won't be returning for a second series on Discovery+. 6 6 It is another setback for the former MP, who was seen in the show losing his seat at the General Election last July. A TV insider said: 'Although the critics seemed to lap up the ridiculousness of the show, it didn't quite get the response from audiences they had hoped for. 'Though it was easy to see how the series could run and run, the feeling among the execs was this should be a one-off capturing of a moment in time, namely the last general election.' Jacob felt that making the Keeping Up With The Kardashians-style show was a way to help 'get the Conservative message out there' while admitting it was a 'calculated risk'. But it doesn't seem to have paid off. When it aired last December, it followed him and his incredibly aristocratic wife, Helena, plus their six children — Mary, Peter, Thomas, Anselm, Alfred and Sixtus. The family provided a snapshot of their privileged and eccentric lives as well as charting the MP's bid to hold on to his seat in North East Somerset constituency. Discovery+ were approached for comment. JOHNNY ON ADHD AND ART JOHNNY VEGAS is back with a new documentary. The comedian, who took a break from his Channel 4 series Carry On Glamping after struggling with his ADHD, will head back to his hometown of St Helens in Merseyside to create a piece of artwork for public display. 6 His most personal project yet, Johnny Vegas: Art, ADHD And Me will follow him on a journey of self-discovery after his ADHD diagnosis in 2022. Johnny said: 'I used to sit at a potter's wheel on stage, and people thought it was a gimmick, but I actually started out as a dedicated wannabe ceramicist. "Art was my educational saviour. 'Over years of an ongoing decline in educational commitment to the very same arts, I felt it was time to kick-start a debate about culture in general, whilst giving something of a visual a symbol of gratitude back to my honestly beloved town.' The two-parter will be shown on Channel 4. SKY Max has confirmed that its rebooted version of panel show Never Mind The Buzzcocks will be returning for another series. Greg Davies will be back in the hot seat for the fifth season of the show, which previously aired on BBC Two from its launch in 1996 to 2015. LAUREN RETURNS AS TV TEC LAUREN LYLE will be getting her detective uniform back on as ITV cold case drama Karen Pirie returns. The actress, who plays DI Karen Pirie, will be joined by her loveable sidekick, DC Mint (Chris Jenks), and the romantically complicated DS Phil Parhatka, played by Zach Wyatt. 6 The story, based on the novel Darker Domain, follows the discovery of a man's body linked to the first series' spine-chilling kidnap of a young heiress and her baby son. The discovery will put Karen under closer scrutiny from her boss, the media and sinister forces linked to the crime which begin to come to light. It will air on ITV this summer. RUTH HAS WILL FOR NEW ROLE SHE waved goodbye to her role in Gavin and Stacey when the series ended last Christmas, but now Ruth Jones has her eyes set on a new character. The actress, who has just released her fourth book, hopes to have her latest novel turned into a TV series so she can play the leading lady. 6 By Your Side features Linda Standish, a divorced, plus-sized Scots woman in her fifties working at the Unclaimed Heirs Unit, which traces family members of people who die without a will. And it follows her last case before retiring, involving Welshman Levi Norman. Revealing fans ask who she would cast as a character like Linda, Ruth said: 'I'm in my fifties, and I'm a plus-size woman, but admittedly I am not Scottish!' PANEL show Sorry, I Didn't Know has landed its sixth series on ITV. Jimmy Akingbola will be replaced by former Holby City actress Chizzy Akudolu – who will join team captains Eddie Kadi and Richard Blackwood. Filming will take place this summer. CYNTHIA'S LESSONS IN FAILURE AS Miranda Hobbes in Sex And The City, Cynthia Nixon has seen her character have no shortage of mishaps. But far from getting her down, the actress says she has learned a lot about how to deal with things going wrong. 6 She told Elizabeth Day on the How To Fail podcast: 'Right from the get-go, we've seen Miranda fail at a lot of things – and that was the best thing to happen. 'She didn't actually fail at being a lawyer, I think she realised that her life quest to be on top of the corporate law world was a mistake. 'That's the wonderful thing about the show, it shows there's enough time to make a change. 'A lot of people identify with Miranda, and as years have passed, more of them identify with her. I love her.' Series three of spin-off And Just Like That. . . is available to stream now on Sky.
