Devin Fitzgerald, son of NFL legend Larry Fitzgerald, visits Notre Dame

Notre Dame is coming off arguably its biggest recruiting weekend of the offseason, and Devin Fitzgerald was not disappointed. The Class of 2026 receiver from Brophy College Prep (Phoenix, AZ), who is the son of NFL legend Larry Fitzgerald, returned to South Bend for an official visit and was able to congregate with other recruits, current players and coaches. Advertisement Fighting Irish head coach Marcus Freeman hosted all of the official visitors at his house for food and games Friday night, which was one of the highlights of the visit. The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder, who is a three-star prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, will take an official visit to North Carolina next weekend and then make his commitment July 5. Could ND land yet another legacy recruit? Last season, Fitzgerald hauled in 52 passes for 720 yards with nine touchdowns. Following a Notre Dame official visit, Devin Fitzgerald won't make his trip to UNC

It was a very good recruiting weekend for Notre Dame football, one that saw 2026 Arizona wide receiver Devin Fitzgerald having great time during his visit, which also saw a projection for him to land in South Bend. On Tuesday another development in his recruitment happened, as Rivals Adam Gorney posted on social media that the 6-foot, 2-inch and 195-pound prospect has canceled his upcoming visit to North Carolina. Advertisement This has to bode well for Notre Dame, as this was Fitzgerald's final official visit before making his decision on July 5th. The nation's No. 484 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite has previously visited Stanford, Clemson and UCLA, has now completed all of his officials. It very much looks like the Irish hit a home run on his trip, and Notre Dame could very well be adding Fitzgerald to its 2026 recruiting class early next month. On3's Mike Singer projects that Notre Dame will land 2026 WR Devin Fitzgerald

While Notre Dame football didn't land any commitments this past weekend, as head coach Marcus Freeman says, there will be delayed gratification. If On3's Mike Singer is correct, then the Irish will be landing Devin Fitzgerald, the son of NFL and Pittsburgh legend Larry Fitzgerald. The 6-foot, 2-inch and 195-pound prospects is the nation's No. 483 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite, and while the ranking might not be as high as you'd like to see, that doesn't tell the whole story. Advertisement Devin, like his father, is a great route running, and has been taught the nuances of being a wide receiver by one of the best to ever do it. You'll be hard pressed to find a better mentor than Larry, and he'd most likely bring some of that knowledge with him to South Bend. The elder Fitzgerald is already a friend of the program, having spoken with the team a few years back. If Notre Dame is able to add Devin to its 2026 recruiting class, they'd not only get a great player, but another former NFL father with loads of experience and knowledge to help as well. Notre Dame got crystal ball picks for Grayson McKeogh, Khary Adams, Joey O'Brien and more

Notre Dame football could be going on another commitment run, and if what has transpired over the last day is correct, it's going to be happening. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the Irish got multiple projections for top players to end up in South Bend. We covered the news of Arizona wide receiver Devin Fitzgerald trending to Notre Dame, along with canceling his official visit to North Carolina. Advertisement That wasn't the only positive recruiting news for the Irish as Connecticut offensive tackle Charlie Thom, who just got his offer yesterday, is expected to join the class according to On3's Mike Singer. Notre Dame is looking for another tackle in the 2026 class, and he'd be a great addition. Staying with that group of insiders, Steve Wiltfong also made a few Irish projections for offensive tackle Grayson McKeogh and cornerback Khary Adams, while also joining in on Fitzgerald. The positive developments didn't end there, as 247Sports also put in crystal ball picks for McKeogh, Adams, safety Nick Reddish, Fitzgerald and safety Joey O'Brien. It's pretty safe to say that this past weekends official visitors trips were a huge success. We will find out shortly if these projections hold true, but it's looking like Notre Dame will be adding more than a few elite prospects over the next few months.
