Plans are underway for The Devil Wears Prada sequel film - ALISON BOSHOFF reveals everything we know so far
There have been rumours for months but firm plans are finally advancing for a Devil Wears Prada 2 film. Location scouts have been hired to pin down filming locations in New York and Paris and the plan is that the movie will go into production next month, with shooting from September. Meryl Streep will reprise her role as Miranda Priestly and Anne Hathaway, currently filming in Italy as Penelope opposite Matt Damon in Christopher Nolan 's The Odyssey, will return as Andy Sachs. Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci are also back for the movie, which will show the boss of Runway Miranda Priestly making her way through the hellscape of the modern magazine world – shrinking budgets, layoffs, disappearing print runs, influencers and all. Blunt – who was Priestly's assistant in the 2006 film, will now be an executive at a luxury house, and Priestly will find she needs its advertising dollars. The 2006 film was based on the hit 2003 novel by Lauren Weisberger, who had worked as a personal assistant to Vogue editor Anna Wintour. It spent six months on the New York Times bestseller list. The sequel will once again be written by Aline Brosh McKenna, who penned the original screenplay. Director David Frankel is also expected to return, reuniting key creatives behind the first film. Blunt, who played her Priestly's assistant Emily Charlton in the 2006 film, said this week that she hadn't read a script but was on board. She mused: 'Why are Meryl and I so mean to each other in every movie we do? 'We always have beef with each other. I don't know what it is. Let's hope we remedy it. I'm not sure.' She added: '20 years ago — in a blink, it's gone by.'
