Man dies after being pulled from inner-city river as cops launch probe over ‘unexplained' death
A MAN has tragically died after being pulled from the River Soar and rushed to hospital.
Leicestershire Police said they were called to reports of a man in the water near Castle Gardens, Leicester, on Monday June 16.
The man was rushed to hospital to receive medical treatment where he sadly died three days later on Thursday June 19.
The mans death is being treated as unexplained by cops who are supporting his family.
Officers are asking for anyone with information that may help their investigation to come forward.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
Identification of the deceased is being left to HM Coroner.
Leicestershire Police's Complex Investigations Team is probing the man's death.
Detective Inspector Nathan Paddison, from the Complex Investigation Team (CIT), said: 'Enquiries to establish the circumstances that led to the man entering the water are continuing.
'I'd like to speak to anyone who was on the towpath at Castle Gardens on Monday morning, who has not already contacted police. Anything you can tell us could help our investigation.'
Anyone with information has been urged to contact the cops on 101 quoting incident number 172 of June 16.
