Bird strike detected after Air India aircraft from Delhi lands in Pune

Pune: A bird hit was detected on an Air India's Delhi-Pune flight after it landed in the city on Friday morning, prompting cancellation of the aircraft's return journey. The flight (AI-2469) — an Airbus A-320 — took off from Delhi at 5.24am instead of its scheduled time of 4.45am and landed at Pune airport with close to 100 flyers at 6.55am. Air India, grappling with multiple problems after the plane crash in Ahmedabad on June 12, confirmed the incident. A source in the airport said the right engine of the aircraft was hit. An Air India spokesperson told TOI, "Flight AI-2470, scheduled to operate from Pune to Delhi on June 20, has been cancelled because of a bird hit, detected after the incoming flight landed safely in Pune. The aircraft has been grounded to carry out extensive checks. Inconvenience caused to our passengers because of this unforeseen disruption is sincerely regretted and every effort is being made to minimise it, including providing accommodation to passengers. Refunds on cancellation or complimentary rescheduling are also being offered to guests who opt for it." The airline's spokesperson said, "Alternative arrangements are being made to fly the passengers to Delhi. At Air India, the safety of passengers and crew remains our top priority." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Thị trường có dấu hiệu suy thoái không? IC Markets Đăng ký Undo The airline officials didn't disclose the extent of damage the aircraft encountered. "Apart from the official statement, we don't have anything more to say for now," another airline official said. A Delhi-bound flyer said he was at the airport when the Air India flight was suddenly cancelled. "It was supposed to take off at 7.40am and land in Delhi at 10am. I had an important meeting to attend in Delhi at 2pm. The airline cancelled the flight after suddenly stating that there was an operational issue, forcing me to take a last-minute flight of another airline to Delhi. I was initially angry, but was scared when I came to know about the bird strike incident," the Koregaon Park resident and a business executive with a company, said. Airport director Santosh Dhoke said, "We just got the information that the aircraft encountered a problem. Their (Air India) engineering department will look into details. We aren't allowed to go near the aircraft in such situations." A source in the airport said, "The DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) will conduct the investigation into the incident. They will look at all aspects, and are expected to talk to the pilots and the cabin crew." Captain Arpit Manshani, who flies both planes and choppers, said, "After a bird strike, the pilot in command is supposed to fill a 'bird strike form' and submit it to the internal safety department of the airline. They further report the incident to the DGCA. All these procedures are written in the operator's manuals. Depending on the severity of the strike, after landing, the engineering team does their checks as per their manuals and releases the aircraft again for service. "

Bomb hoax on Kochi-Delhi IndiGo flight

Representative Image NAGPUR: A Delhi-bound IndiGo flight with 157 passengers on board made an emergency landing in Nagpur Tuesday after receiving a bomb threat, reports Shishir Arya. The flight, which originated from Muscat, was on its way to Delhi after its scheduled stop in Kochi. After a thorough scanning at Nagpur, the threat was declared a hoax. Apart from the 157 passengers, there were six crew members on board. The email, received by the Cochin International Airport Limited at 6.30am, was read by airport authorities around 9.30am. The pilot was relayed about it mid-air, leading to the diversion. The passengers were checked, and the flight took off for Delhi around 3pm. The email sender identified himself as Alex Paul Menon and said a pipe bomb in the aircraft would blow up Kochi airport to avenge Ajmal Kasab's hanging, arrests of Pallan Arun (IPS), and Youtuber Savukku Shankar. The email also spoke of plans to blow up IGI Airport at Delhi. Stay informed with the latest business news, updates on bank holidays and public holidays . AI Masterclass for Students. Air India Flight From Ahmedabad to London Canceled Days After Fatal Crash

An Air India flight from Ahmedabad to London has been canceled days after the fatal crash that killed 241 people on board. There was no official comment on the cause of the cancellation, but Indian news channel CNN News18 reported it was due to "technical issues." The canceled plane for was a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner-the same type of aircraft as the one that crashed last week, according to data from FlightRadar. Tuesday's incident comes five days after the Air India crash in Ahmedabad, when a London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed minutes after taking off. The crash killed 241 people on board and a further 29 on the ground in what was one of India's worst ever aviation disaster. Investigators are studying the two black boxes recovered from the crash site. Experts from India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau are probing the crash with assistance from the U.K., the U.S. and officials from Boeing. In a separate incident on Monday, an Air India pilot turned back his Delhi-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner to Hong Kong airport as a precaution shortly after taking off, citing a technical issue, Indian media reported. Flight tracking data showed the pilot turning Flight AI315 around less than 30 minutes into the flight from Hong Kong as reported by Indian news agencies IANS and ANI. Newsweek has contacted Air India for comment. The nature of the technical issue was not immediately clear. This is a breaking news story-more to follow. A Delhi-bound IndiGo flight with 157 passengers on board made an emergency landing in Nagpur on Tuesday after receiving a bomb threat, the Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL) said. The flight, which originated from Muscat, was on its way to Delhi after its scheduled stop in Kochi. The CIAL said it received the threat in its official email ID about the flight, which departed for Delhi with 157 passengers and six crew members at 9.31 am. "The information was promptly communicated to relevant authorities following which the flight made an emergency landing at Nagpur airport," the airport operator said. An IndiGo spokesperson later in a statement confirmed receiving a "security concern" pertaining to its flight and said it immediately informed the relevant authorities as per security aviation protocol. Subsequently, a Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) was convened and the threat was declared as "specific", CIAL said. "The flight safely landed at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport, Nagpur, and all customers disembarked," IndiGo said in the statement. The spokesperson said the airline is fully cooperating with the authorities concerned in conducting the mandatory security checks before the aircraft is cleared to resume operations.
