Vernon business owner now facing child porn charges

WILBARGER COUNTY (KFDX/KJTL) — Authorities arrested a Vernon business owner for the second time in less than a month on child pornography charges connected to pending allegations of sex crimes against a teenage girl. According to the Wilbarger County Jail roster, Miguel Angel Delacruz, 26, of Vernon, was booked into the Wilbarger County Jail on Feb. 24, 2025, and charged with two counts of possession of child pornography. He was released the next day after posting bond. Delacruz was initially arrested on Feb. 6, 2025, and charged with one count of sexual assault of a child and three counts of indecency with a child. The new child pornography charges against Delacruz are connected to his previous arrest. PREVIOUS STORY: Vernon business owner accused of child sex crimes The initial charges against Delacruz stem from an outcry made by a 16-year-old girl to her mother. According to the arrest affidavit, the girl's mother said her daughter told her she and Delacruz were having sexual intercourse. According to the affidavit, Delacruz's phone was seized during the investigation. A search warrant was obtained for the phone, which was sent to a Computer Forensic Analyst with the Wichita Falls Police Department for extraction. Vernon police officers said when they reviewed the digital evidence taken from Delacruz's phone, they found two sexually explicit videos of the teenage girl that were saved on the phone on Jan. 22 and Jan. 30. According to the affidavit, the alleged victim's mother told police she'd found handwritten love letters from Delacruz expressing his love and affection for the victim. Police said the girl's mother also accessed the victim's phone and discovered inappropriate content in the teen's Snapchat. The affidavit said Delacruz agreed to an interview with the Vernon Police Department. Officers said Delacruz was shown the 'nude Snapchat photos and videos' from the girl's phone. Police said Delacruz affirmed it was him but denied having sexual intercourse with the girl. WILBARGER COUNTY (KFDX/KJTL) — A business owner in Vernon is facing multiple child sex crime charges stemming from his alleged relationship with a teenage girl. Miguel Angel Delacruz, 26, of Vernon, was arrested on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, and booked into the Wilbarger County Jail on one count of sexual assault of a child and three counts of indecency with a child by exposure. He was released the following day after posting bonds totaling $110,000. According to the arrest affidavit, officers with the Vernon Police Department were made aware of a restraining order filed by the mother of the alleged victim, a 16-year-old female. The mother said she didn't want her daughter to have any contact with Delacruz. LOCAL NEWS: WFISD coach named in Texas teacher certification scandal Police said the teen made an outcry to her mother that she and Delacruz were having sexual intercourse. They said the victim's mother found letters that were handwritten by Delacruz expressing his love and affection for the victim. According to the affidavit, the girl's mother said Delacruz groomed the alleged victim by buying her items. Police said the girl's mother also accessed the victim's phone and discovered inappropriate content in the teen's Snapchat application. Police said the girl's mother allowed police to search the victim's phone. They said they observed several videos and photos containing nudity from Delacruz after searching the 'My Eyes Only' feature of the girl's Snapchat. On Feb. 3, the alleged victim was taken to Patsy's House for a forensic interview. The affidavit said the girl cried during the interview, and authorities were able to gather detailed information about the 'sexual abuse and traumatic experience.' According to the affidavit, the victim said she met Delacruz in the summer of 2024 at Phat Axes, an ax-throwing business in Vernon owned by Delacruz. She said she eventually developed feelings for Delacruz. Police said during the forensic interview, the alleged victim said she and Delacruz engaged in sexual activity many times 'in different areas of Texas.' LOCAL CRIME: Iowa Park man indicted in deadly yard clippings dispute The affidavit said Delacruz agreed to an interview with the Vernon Police Department. Officers said Delacruz admitted to knowing the girl but denied ever being alone with her. According to police, Delacruz was shown the 'nude Snapchat photos and videos' from the girl's phone and asked if it was him. Police said Delacruz affirmed it was him, but denied having sexual intercourse with the girl. Milford man arrested for iPhone insurance scheme

MILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A Milford man was arrested on Thursday after participating in an iPhone insurance fraud scheme, according to state police. In March 2024, detectives received a complaint regarding an organized group running a scheme to obtain new Apple iPhones through fraudulent insurance claims. Esmaylin Delacruz, 37, was identified as a key suspect. State employee charged for voter registration fraud after event in Torrington State police said that they searched Delacruz's residence in November, which revealed multiple articles of evidence, including multiple iPhones which were proven to have been obtained through fraudulent insurance claims. It was also revealed that he employed people to open accounts through different wireless carriers and file fraudulent claims. He was located and arrested on Thursday on strength of an active arrest warrant. Delacruz is facing charges of larceny in the first degree, conspiracy to commit larceny in the first degree and insurance fraud. He was held on a $75,000 bond and appeared in court on Friday.
