Big leap forward: UP makes strides in edu at schools

Lucknow: Improving its score by 27 points, UP climbed up the ladder of performance in school education. The latest Performance Grading Index (PGI) report released by the department of school education & literacy, Union ministry of education, shows UP scoring 528.1 out of 1,000, achieving Akanshi-1 grade (third lowest) as defined in the report for the 2023-24 session. The state improved its score from 501.9 points in the 2021-22 session and 499.8 in the 2022-23 session, achieving the second lowest of Akanshi-2 grade. None of the 28 states and eight Union territories were able to finish in the top four levels — Daksh, Utkarsh, Ati-Uttam, Uttam — with Chandigarh scoring the highest of 703 and making it to the Pracheshta-1 grade level. Additional chief secretary, basic and secondary education, Deepak Kumar told TOI that the report clearly validates the CM's vision to make UP a frontrunner in quality education and an education hub. "From Operation Kayakalp and NIPUN assessments to continuous training of teachers and slew of innovative measures, these innitiatives have helped us score better," Kumar said. Overwhelmed with UP's performance, director general of school education, Kanchan Verma said, "Our learning outcomes and equity domain remains the same as it is measured via the National Achievement Survey (NAS). NAS for the year 2021 is yet to be released. Therefore, improvements are shown only on infrastructure, teacher training." While no state could make it to Pracheshta-2, 10 states/UTs, including Punjab, Delhi, Gujarat, Odisha, Kerala, Haryana, Goa, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Daman & Diu & Dadra & Nagar Haveli, achieved scores between 581 and 640, thereby achieving the Pracheshta-3 grade level.

Tesla Properties rises as one of Dubai's fastest-growing real estate firms

Tesla Properties, a relatively new entrant in Dubai's real estate market, has rapidly gained prominence by achieving nearly Dh1 billion in property sales since its inception in 2021. The company's swift ascent is attributed to a combination of customer-focused services, structured operations, and a full-service model that spans sales, rentals, interiors, and maintenance. Founded by Deepak Kumar and Satissh Balyan, and later joined by Pushpit Kohli as COO and principal partner, Tesla Properties is led by a trio that brings together deep expertise in sales, service, and operations. The firm's growth has been particularly notable over the past year, with a major uptick in transactions driven by internal restructuring and digital expansion. Amidst a highly competitive market, Tesla Properties has positioned itself as a solution-oriented agency offering a seamless experience across the property ownership lifecycle. Tesla's business strategy integrates technology with a service-centric model. By leveraging CRM systems and property platforms, the company has improved operational efficiency and client response times. While automation supports scale, the company continues to prioritise personalised service — a distinguishing factor in Dubai's fast-moving real estate landscape. In 2023, operational changes and enhanced backend systems enabled the company to streamline agent training, improve client servicing, and introduce measurable performance metrics. This resulted in doubled transaction volumes and a significantly stronger market presence. Tesla Properties' unique proposition lies in its consolidated service offering, providing clients with end-to-end solutions — from sales to post-transaction support. This integrated approach has helped the firm foster long-term client relationships and drive repeat business in a market known for its transactional pace. Culturally, Tesla Properties attributes much of its momentum to its internal values of transparency, accountability, and empowerment. With a team now exceeding 70 professionals, the firm continues to focus on workforce development and sustainable growth. Looking ahead, the company has set an ambitious target of Dh2 billion in property sales by the end of 2025. Plans are underway to expand its investment offerings and diversify its portfolio to cater to Dubai's evolving buyer landscape, which increasingly includes international investors and residents. "As founders, we've always believed that trust and consistency are more valuable than rapid wins. Our vision is not just to sell homes, but to build lasting value for clients at every stage of their property journey,' said Deepak Kumar, co-founder of Tesla Properties. As Dubai continues to attract global attention for its dynamic real estate sector, Tesla Properties is gearing up to deepen its market share through strategic alliances and a stronger digital footprint. The company aims not just to transact properties, but to offer a comprehensive, client-focused real estate experience.

Tests to find out speed at which SUV was driven after home guard falls off flyover in Faridabad

Faridabad: A day after a home guard was seriously injured in an accident involving an SUV on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, investigators are conducting a technical analysis of the vehicle to determine its actual speed. On Sunday, the SUV crashed into a police van that sent the city police home guard plummeting off a flyover onto a road 10 feet below near Badauli village. Deepak Kumar, who sustained serious head injuries, remains in critical condition in the ICU of Sarvodaya Hospital. At 7.45am, a black Mahindra Scorpio driven by a trainee pilot collided with the police interceptor van. The impact caused the police interceptor to crash into the flyover's boundary wall, resulting in the home guard falling onto the road below. While one constable, Deepak Kumar, was inside the van, Deepak was outside monitoring traffic speeds. Police found CCTV footage showing the cop falling from the flyover. The traffic constable was discharged after receiving treatment. Both officers are approximately 25 years old. An FIR was filed against her at BPTP police station under BNS sections for rash driving, endangering life, causing grievous hurt and obstructing public servants from performing their duties.

Maoists suspected in explosives loot near Saranda; Odisha, Jharkhand police launch joint anti-maoist operations

ROURKELA: A day after suspected Maoists hijacked and looted a truck laden with huge cache of blasting explosives, Rourkela police intensified combing operation along the Odisha-Jharkhand border with DGP YB Khurania visiting the steel city to take stock of the situation on Wednesday. Reliable sources said the DGP held a closed-door meeting with IG (Operation) Deepak Kumar, DIG (Western Range) Brijesh Kumar Rai and Sundargarh SP Pratyush Diwakar, also in charge of Rourkela. Khurania also reportedly visited K Balang police station amid tight security and reviewed the ongoing investigation. At around 9.30 am on Tuesday, eight armed persons hijacked the explosives-laden truck from near a forested stone quarry at Banko within K Balang police limits, more than 90 km from Rourkela and drove the vehicle to a nearby forest. Another 10-15 persons waiting inside the forest looted at least 150 packets of explosives each weighing 15 to 25 kg. The loot site is barely two km from the Maoist hotbed of Saranda forest in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand. The empty vehicle was later found abandoned inside the forest and its driver was unhurt. Requesting anonymity, a police officer associated with the investigation said driver of the explosives-laden vehicle Debnath Toppo and owner of the stone quarry Niraj Pandey were interrogated. Without ruling out the involvement of the outlawed CPI (Maoist) in the incident, he estimated the value of the looted explosives to be around `1.5 lakh. Earlier, SP Diwakar had stated that the looted explosives packets contained blasting gelatine sticks. However, it is yet to be ascertained if some of the packets contained detonators as the gelatine sticks would require detonating devices to explode.
