Local art gallery celebrating successes of Dayton Art Fair Weekend
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The Contemporary Dayton is celebrating the success of the inaugural Dayton Art Fair Weekend. The weekend of Feb. 14-16 featured three artful events: the Dayton Art Champions Reception, the Prelude and the Dayton Art Fair. Honoring the 2024 champions, the reception highlighted people and groups who've impacted the local art scene in a major way. Those awarded included Dr. Robert Brandt, Jr., Sandy Gudorf, Five Rivers Health Center, Meredith Moss, Linda Lombard and Paul Marshall. Dayton native Te'Jal Cartwright performed an original poem in front of over 250 people in attendance. Then on Saturday, the reimagining of the traditional art auction – now the Prelude Party – was a fun event themed around Valentine's Day. It had a festival atmosphere and featured music, auctions and VIP lounges. Lastly, over 2,500 people attended the Dayton Art Fair. Attendees were able to buy directly from a selection of over three dozen artists and several galleries. The Co's Executive Director, Eva Buttacavoli, shared her thoughts on the weekend's success. 'We are thrilled with the overwhelming response to the Dayton Art Fair. This weekend was a testament to Dayton's deep love for the arts, and we look forward to building on this momentum in the years to come,' said Buttacavoli. The Contemporary Dayton is located at 25 W Fourth Street in downtown. To learn more, visit its website here. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
