Fever Draft Pick Reacts to Joining New Team Before Caitlin Clark Matchup

Fever Draft Pick Reacts to Joining New Team Before Caitlin Clark Matchup originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Indiana Fever had three picks in the 2025 WNBA draft but only one remains on the active roster: forward Makayla Timpson. Forward Yvonne Ejim and guard Bree Hall were with the team during training camp and preseason but were waived before the start of the regular se ason. Advertisement But on Wednesday, Hall found herself a new home. The Golden State Valkyries announced they had signed the 21-year-old. "Roster Update: The Golden State Valkyries have signed guard Bree Hall," the Valkyries posted on social media. Interestingly enough, her first game as a member of Golden State will be against her former team on Thursday. It's unclear if she'll get any minutes but if she does, it'll mark her WNBA regular season debut. "Hall will be available on Thursday against Indiana," the Valkyries said. Shortly after the news, Hall took to social media to repost the news and add a GIF, showing her excitement. She didn't add any words. Bree Hall's Instagram story.@breezyhall/Instagram The Fever took Hall with the 20th overall pick after spending her college career playing under Dawn Staley at South Carolina. There, the 6-foot-1 guard won two national championships, four SEC regular season titles and three SEC Tournament titles. Advertisement In her college career, Hall averaged 5.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game. The Valkyries currently sit at 5-6, having won three of their last four games. Thursday's matchup against the Fever will mark the first-ever meeting between the two teams, with Golden State in the midst of its inaugural season. Tip-off is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET at the Chase Center. Dawn Staley Doesn't Hold Back About Caitlin Clark

Dawn Staley Doesn't Hold Back About Caitlin Clark originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark has drawn plenty of new fans to women's basketball over the last few years with her ability to shoot and pass. Since being drafted No. 1 overall by the Fever in 2024, she's gone on to light up the scoreboard nearly every time she takes the court. Advertisement Through six games played this season, she's averaging 21.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 8.7 assists. In Thursday's edition of "Not Gonna Lie With Kylie Kelce," college basketball coach Dawn Staley spoke about Clark. She didn't hold back, saying that the new eyes on the sport "only want you to speak very highly of her." "I think she's quite incredible, quite an anomaly when it comes to how many eyeballs that she's bringing on the game, and new eyeballs," the three-time national champion South Carolina coach said. "And the newness of those eyeballs only want her to do well, only want you to speak very highly of her, only want you to agree with what they agree with. And that's kind of hard when we are critics to everyone that plays the game. We're critics to it. It's a part of our, the fabric of sports." The former Iowa guard scored over 30 points in both of their college matchups. Advertisement "I would say she's probably the most difficult to scout, to play against, in that she can beat you a variety of ways," Staley said. "She can beat you with her, obviously, a three-point shot, but for me, the most dangerous thing of Caitlin Clark is her passing ability, her ability to make other people better, and her ability to have other people's production along with her production. That's how you win. If you can get somebody to produce along with her, if you could take that away." Clark dominated the WNBA since entering the league. In 2024, she was named an All-Star, selected to the All-WNBA First Team, named Rookie of the Year and led the league in assists. This year, she's already in the early running for WNBA MVP. Oklahoma Women's Basketball SEC opponents for 2025-2026 season

Oklahoma Women's Basketball SEC opponents for 2025-2026 season The Oklahoma Sooners women's basketball team is coming off their first Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA tournament under head coach Jenny Baranczyk. The Sooners went 27-8 and 11-5 in their first season in the SEC, good for fourth place in the conference. As OU gets ready for year two, the SEC released the conference opponents Oklahoma will face this season. Coming to the Lloyd Noble Center this season will be three of the best programs in the sport in South Carolina, Tennessee, and LSU. Those three schools have combined for 12 national titles. Tennessee is one of the blue-bloods of the sport. South Carolina has been on a dominant run under Dawn Staley. The Gamecocks have won three national championships since 2017, most recently in 2024. LSU earned its first national title in 2023 under Kim Mulkey. Also coming to Norman for the 2025-2026 basketball season are Arkansas, Florida, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State. This season, the Sooners will go on the road to face Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri, Vanderbilt, and the Texas Longhorns. Unfortunately, the Sooners will only face the Longhorns once in 2025-2026, as SEC schedule makers have opted to give the Red River Rivals other home-and-home matchups. Oklahoma's only home and home matchup this season comes against the Texas A&M Aggies. Last year the Sooners beat the Aggies 77-62, led by 16 points from Raegan Beers. Texas will take on the LSU Tigers in a home and home next year. The 2025-2026 season marks the arrival of the No. 1 player in the country for the 2025 recruiting class, Aaliyah Chavez. She'll join a roster full of experience with Beers, Peyton Verhulst, Sahara Williams, and Zya Vann. Dawn Staley throws ‘A'One Day' in A'ja Wilson's honor at South Carolina's summer camp

The post Dawn Staley throws 'A'One Day' in A'ja Wilson's honor at South Carolina's summer camp appeared first on ClutchPoints. There's no denying the affection South Carolina basketball coach Dawn Staley has for her former player, A'ja Wilson. The love is reciprocal, as Wilson credits Staley for her success in both college and the WNBA. Advertisement On Wednesday, Staley expressed her appreciation for Wilson by hosting an 'A'One Day' at South Carolina's basketball camp. On her X page, Staley posted pictures and a short video of the campers wearing Wilson's signature 'A'One' Nike shoes. The caption read: 'Little @GamecockWBB Camp day 3…..IT'S @_ajawilson22 A'One Day! Our campers showed up and out in their A'Ones, and I'm here for it all! Keep inspiring our youth A! Love!' Wilson's shoes were released on May 6, one week before the official start of the WNBA season. The 'A'One' shoe sold out in a matter of minutes, signifying Wilson's status as a quintessential basketball powerhouse on and off the court. Advertisement In April, Staley announced the release of her memoir 'Uncommon Favor: Basketball, North Philly, My Mother, and the Life Lessons I Learned From All Three'. It was released on May 20 and became a New York Times best seller. Staley nurtured Wilson during her time at South Carolina. In 2017, South Carolina won their first national championship with Staley at the helm and Wilson as the National Player of the Year. Along the way, Staley and Wilson fused a special connection between player and coach. The bond between Dawn Staley and A'ja Wilson Beyond her on-the-court accomplishments, Staley has cultivated a protective persona. Much like John Thompson at Georgetown, Staley is adamant about unconditionally supporting her players while at South Carolina and beyond. Advertisement In many ways, it is a mother-daughter relationship. That dynamic explains the connection to Wilson very much. As much as she can, Staley attends Wilson's games with the Las Vegas Aces. When the Aces won the title in 2023, Staley was there to support Wilson. In turn, Wilson paid homage to Staley for supporting her throughout her career.
