Porn star comes out in support of Caitlin Clark in latest bizarre twist to WNBA controversy

has received support from an unlikely source in the wake of her bust-up on Tuesday. The Indiana Fever star was hip-checked to the floor by the Connecticut Sun's Marina Mabrey in a scuffle between the two teams, with Mabrey only receiving a technical foul from referees. Clark, who had been poked in the eye by the Sun's Jacy Sheldon seconds earlier before shoving her back, received a technical foul as well, while Sheldon was slapped with a flagrant. But porn star Kendra Lust didn't think the incident was handled correctly by referees. 'How was nobody ejected ? @ WNBA this is crazy.. poke to the eye more intentionally than a UFC fight lol then another player comes and knocked down,' Lust posted to X on Wednesday. The adult performer later told Outkick: 'I think it's either gonna be her getting hurt or a fight for the WNBA to finally take action. 'Other top players in the league speaking up would help also.' The WNBA later upgraded Mabrey's technical foul to a flagrant two, which will come with the standard fine for that designation. Nonetheless, Lust was not the only person angered by how Clark was treated, as Barstool boss Dave Portnoy called for 'jealous loser' Mabrey to be kicked out of the league. 'Marina Mabrey is a jealous loser punk,' Portnoy wrote on X. 'Asks to be traded on every single team she's on until she's on worst team in the league and completely irrelevant unless she's cheap shorting Caitlin. Go play in rec league where nobody gives a s*** about you.' 'Imagine not kicking Marina Mabrey out after she assaults the face of the league? Just a common tech? Sick league @WNBA Also shouldn't have been a tech on Caitlin since that girl got in her face after gouging her eyes.' Clark was routinely roughed up in her rookie season - namely by Chennedy Carter in one infamous incident - but that sort of treatment has seemingly persisted in her sophomore year. However, Clark's new teammate Sophie Cunningham has made it her mission to protect the reigning Rookie of the Year, as new footage from the wild clash on Tuesday shows that Cunningham was itching to get involved. Cunningham, who was not in the game at the time, had to be held back from the sideline as she tried to rush in and defend Clark. She could be seen briefly trying to run towards the fracas before being intercepted by assistant coach Austin Kelly, who held onto her for several seconds until the incident died down.

Dave Portnoy reveals why Americans are ditching traditional news outlets

Barstool boss Dave Portnoy has revealed why he believes Americans are ditching traditional news outlets, as the online aficionado has said there's a 'big time distrust' among the longstanding networks. Portnoy runs one of the largest online brands in sports that has attracted talent who have ended up becoming some of the largest names in media, such as Alex Cooper and Pat McAfee. The Barstool founder's comments come in the backdrop of CNN 's grip of primetime news weakening, as they have fallen from first to third in ratings over the last several years. 'It is obviously big time distrust of legacy media,' Portnoy told Fox News. 'And there's so many different ways to consume media. Whether that's online podcasts, some of it good, some of it bad, to be honest, you just have to be really careful where you're getting your information from. There's so many different people speaking now and people can access it in so many ways.' 'The internet has given a way for people to fact-check and come to their own conclusions You just don't have a couple of network TV anchors or chairs telling you what to think.' Long gone are the days of Walter Winchell or Edward R. Murrow dominating a news cycle. Even the grip from the 1990s and early 2000s during coverage of Presidential elections and other huge news events has gone awry. Portnoy's comments come as the future of CNN has been under a microscope following Warner Bros. Discovery's impending corporate restructuring. One person told Fox the mood within CNN 'remains really grim' and 'people are uncertain' over the future. Portnoy has been an agent of change for internet news, with his brand's content mainly focusing on social media and podcasting. The 48-year-old has still broken into the mainstream with Barstool's success and the internet playing a role in every news cycle. Portnoy may be Barstool's biggest individual star, after others have found success and taken their talents elsewhere recently, such as Bussin' With the Boys, which is hosted by former NFL stars Taylor Lewan and Will Compton. Plenty of Portnoy's content comes from his 'one bite' pizza reviews, as well as his soical-media rants attacking others' opinions,

Dave Portnoy says legacy media faces major distrust as CNN grapples with low morale

Print Close By Preston Mizell Published June 19, 2025 Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy said that there is "obviously big time distrust of legacy media" during an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital. Portnoy's comments come in response to a Fox Digital report that CNN staffers are worried about the future of the former most-watched cable network. "It is obviously big time distrust of legacy media," Portnoy explained. "And there's so many different ways to consume media. Whether that's online podcasts, some of it good, some of it bad, to be honest, you just have to be really careful where you're getting your information from. There's so many different people speaking now and people can access it in so many ways." CNN MORALE 'REALLY GRIM' AS NETWORK FACES UNCERTAIN FUTURE WITH CORPORATE SPLIT, STAFFERS WARN CNN dominated the airwaves in the '90s, leading coverage on Baghdad and the O.J. Simpson trial. Since then, prime-time viewership has plummeted from the Ted Turner-founded network to third in ratings. On Monday, Variety reported that one of the network's most notable stars, Anderson Cooper, hired high-powered Hollywood agent Bryan Lourd of Creative Artists Agency, which may indicate Cooper is either looking to bolster his contract with CNN or potentially leave the network altogether. Cooper has been at CNN for more than 23 years. One Cable News Network staffer also told Fox "the mood remains really grim" and that "people are uncertain" about what may come after an expected corporate restructuring by their parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery. CNN HAS 'TEARS ON THE HORIZON' AS WARNER BROS. DISCOVERY PLOTS NETWORK SPINOFF, INDUSTRY INSIDERS SAY Portnoy explained his thinking behind the shift in media, saying the internet has played a large role in where people get their information. "The internet has given a way for people to fact-check and come to their own conclusions," Portnoy added. "You just don't have a couple of network TV anchors or chairs telling you what to think." The Barstool Sports empire is a leading example of the change in how people interact with the media. The mostly podcast and social media-driven strategy has propelled the sports outlet into a giant, with Dave manning the helm. ANTISEMITIC SLUR FLUNG AT BARSTOOL SPORTS FOUNDER DAVE PORTNOY OUTSIDE TORONTO RESTAURANT Portnoy's infamous "one bite" pizza reviews are one of the many bits that put Barstool on the map, which feature Dave testing slices of pizza and rating them accordingly. Many of his reviews have gone viral and his scores can make or break pizzerias in New York City and across the country. Following the success of the pizza reviews, Dave launched the "One Bite Pizza Festival" in 2023 in Brooklyn, and now plans to host the event for a third year in Randall's Island Park this September for thousands to try his top-rated pizza choices. The event has sold out each time the festival has been held. "Like if you like pizza, obviously if you don't like pizza, forget about it, but everybody loves pizza," Dave told Fox. "We have the best pizzerias, 40 plus. We're always adding new ones. Like I just did this spectacular place series that went super-viral in New York City." Dave Portnoy Goes Scorched Earth on WNBA Player After She Drops ‘Face of the League' Caitlin Clark

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy was livid after Connecticut Sun guard Marina Mabrey slammed Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark to the floor following a dust-up in their game Tuesday evening. The incident began when Sun guard Jacy Sheldon poked Clark in the eye while defending her, prompting a personal foul call. Clark fans surely had flashbacks to last year's playoffs, when then-Sun player DiJonai Carrington poked her, leaving her with a noticeable black eye and a tough shooting night. The crowd was angry. Clark, frustrated, bumped Sheldon in response, leading to a confrontation. Mabrey then intervened, forcefully shoving Clark to the ground from behind during a dead ball. 'Imagine not kicking Marina Mabrey out after she assaults the face of the league?' Portnoy posted on X. 'Sick league @WNBA.' Portnoy also suggested Clark should not have gotten a technical on the play, considering her bump was in response to being jabbed in the eye. Not to mention, she could be forgiven for not being able to see who she was running into. After the game, crew chief Ashley Gloss told reporters, according to the New York Post, that Mabrey's actions did not rise to the level of an ejection. She wasn't even hit with a flagrant foul call. 'The contact made by Mabrey did not rise to the level of an ejection,' Gloss said. 'Additionally, [it] did not meet the criteria for a flagrant foul penalty two.' Of course it did. Unquestionably. Sheldon was given a flagrant for her actions due to the potential for injury, but at least it came during a basketball play. Mabrey trucking the league's star out of nowhere during a dead ball is an easy ejection call. The league lacks the backbone for it. They continue to allow Clark to get hammered on the court because, in their view, she's a recipient of privilege. It's disgraceful. RELATED: On the plus side, check out how Sophie Cunningham delivers a hard foul to Sheldon in retaliation later in the quarter. That's the type of enforcer Caitlin Clark has needed. A hard foul in response from a player who can take the ejection so Clark doesn't have to retaliate herself will help other WNBA players think twice about getting physical with the star of the league. Cunningham, when the Fever signed her in the off-season, made it quite clear that she was ready to support her teammate and handle any intimidation tactics opponents might use against the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year. 'Just the competitor that I am, I'm fierce, I'm sassy,' Cunningham said. 'I stick up for my teammates. I stick up for myself. Sometimes, I think that's okay to be feisty and be yourself.' Clark didn't have teammates willing to stick up for her last season, which is why players in the league think they can continue to hammer her on the court. It's good to see Cunningham step up. Portnoy, in a separate post, suggested Mabrey should be 'kicked outta the league.' Dave Portnoy lashes out at Stephen A Smith with savage dig over controversial Caitlin Clark brawl take

Barstool Sports chief Dave Portnoy took a brutal shot at Stephen A. Smith over the sports media personality's controversial take on Caitlin Clark. Clark and the WNBA were once again thrust into the spotlight Tuesday night when the Indiana Fever superstar found herself at the center of a number of on-court skirmishes. In a tense clash against the Sun, Clark was jabbed in the eye by Connecticut's Jacy Sheldon, who had previously been caught in a heated exchange with the Fever guard, before being slammed to the floor by Marina Mabrey in a violent moment which sparked outrage online. However, Smith suggested Clark wasn't entirely innocent in the shocking on-court outburst, which is just the latest in a number directed at the Iowa product. 'Clearly, when it comes to Caitlin Clark, there's some resentment, as I've articulated before. What people are missing, Monica, is that I have no problem with it whatsoever,' Smith told Monica McNutt during Wednesday's episode of 'First Take'. 'Yes, there's resentment... this is much ado about nothing! In the heat of competition, tempers flare! Last time I checked, women got tempers just like men do. It ain't a problem! It ain't a problem at all! It ain't no big deal at all! I love it, personally.' I'll take things that never happened but ESPN always pretends did for 100 Alex. Less solitaire. More facts @1stephenasmith. — Dave Portnoy (@stoolpresidente) June 18, 2025 Dave Portnoy (R) called out Stephen A. Smith (L) for his take on the Caitlin Clark brawl The Indiana Fever star was poked in the eye before being shoved to the ground by her rivals 'Caitlin Clark being that golden goose, that rising tide that's lifting all boats, I stand by my past proclamations that there's resentment towards her because of that. But I want to take it a step further: There's also resentment towards her because she instigates resentment towards her sometimes.' But a furious Portnoy, who had expressed his outrage at Mabry Tuesday night, took issue with Smith's version of events as he used a 'Jeopardy!' reference to shut down the ESPN analyst. 'I'll take things that never happened but ESPN always pretends did for 100 Alex. Less solitaire. More facts @1stephenasmith,' Portnoy wrote on X in response to a clip of Smith's take. The American businessman further rubbed salt in the wound by taking a dig at Smith's courtside game of solitaire. Smith, who earlier this year signed a $100million ESPN contract, was caught playing the card game on his phone during the NBA Finals, where he was working for the network last week. Clark had been prodded in the eye by Sheldon during the second quarter of the Fever's 88-71 win. When the Indiana superstar reacted angrily to being struck by Sheldon, the latter's teammate, Mabrey, raced over and slammed her to the floor in a violent moment which sparked outrage online. Somehow she avoided an ejection from the game despite the shove being unprovoked, much to the dismay of WNBA fans - including Portnoy. The Barstool founder called for 'jealous loser' Mabrey to be kicked out of the league over her attack on Clark. Clark slammed onto the court after the violent nudge by Marina Mabrey Portnoy has called for Connecticut Sun star Mabrey to be banned from the WNBA 'Marina Mabrey is a jealous loser punk,' Portnoy wrote on X Tuesday night. Sick league @WNBA Also shouldn't have been a tech on Caitlin since that girl got in her face after gouging her eyes.' The Barstool founder's outrage didn't end there, as he later posted a long rant, further coming to Clark's aid. Portnoy called out the league's commissioner, Cathy Engelbert, WNBA referees, and some of the franchise owners for letting the league get to a place where players putting their hands on Clark as much as they have has become the norm. Partway through his lengthy rant, Portnoy once again turned his focus to the Sun player, adding: 'Then bang, Marina Mabrey... who if you don't know who that is, she's been on 32 different teams in two years, she cries, whines, leaves one team, goes to another, demands a trade... she's an irrelevant journeyman. She runs up to Caitlin after the whistle and f***ing slams into her and knocks her down. An obvious ejection! 'Marina Mabrey look in the mirror. The reason that you have any money before the end of your career is number two two. Nobody even cared who you were until she got into the league. So cheap shot her like that, what are you? Dumb? 'More importantly, the league, the refs, you're going to let people take cheap shots like that over and over and over at the face of your league? The future of your league? The most important player in your league? How do you not eject her?' The WNBA came out Wednesday and admitted that Mabrey should have faced harsher punishment for her part in the on-court skirmish. Mabrey's technical has been upgraded to a flagrant 2, which would have brought about an ejection had it been dished out on the night.
