28 Years Later OTT release: Danny Boyle's horror thriller may premiere on Netflix in October
28 Years Later OTT release: 28 Years Later, which hit the screens on June 20, has created a great deal of buzz among fans as it is directed by ace filmmaker Danny Boyle. It has also garnered a great deal of attention with its unnerving trailer. The film is currently playing in theatres only, which means it is not available on OTT. However, it will eventually drop on Netflix. 28 Years to premiere on OTT after four months? 28 Years Later, one of the biggest releases of the year, is backed by Sony Pictures. The studio has a deal with the streaming giant Netflix. As such, as part of this arrangement, the horror thriller will premiere on the OTT player after its theatrical run. While this is confirmed, the exact release date isn't. However, previous Sony movies such as The Garfield Movie and Bad Boys: Ride or Die, released on the platform four months after their theatrical release. Given the fact that the timeline has been consistent, one can expect it to land on OTT in October That said, there is a possibility of it landing there even later if it fares well at the box office. Jodie Comer has said being led by director Danny Boyle on the set of 28 Years Later was a 'proper dream'. Comer, who is best known for playing the antagonist Villanelle in the hit BBC series Killing Eve, was speaking at the 28 Years Later world premiere in Leicester Square on Wednesday evening. Advertisement 28 Years Later is set in the same world as the 2002 apocalyptic horror 28 Days Later, which saw Cillian Murphy play a bicycle courier who awakes from a coma to discover the accidental release of a highly contagious, aggression-inducing virus has caused the breakdown of society. The new instalment follows on almost three decades since the virus escaped a biological weapons laboratory, where some have found a way to exist amid the infected despite an enforced quarantine. When one of the group leaves the gated island they are residing on for a mission to the mainland, they discover secrets and horrors that have mutated not only the infected but other survivors as well. Comer features in the film alongside Ralph Fiennes and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Young actors in zombie blockbuster 28 Years Later, partly filmed in Bradford
YOUNG actors from a Bradford acting agency will be terrifying cinema audiences this summer - in zombie blockbuster 28 Years Later, which was partly filmed in the city. Directed by Oscar-winner Danny Boyle, the film is a new chapter of the acclaimed post-apocalyptic movie series that began with 28 Days Later. Joining the star-studded cast, headed by Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Ralph Fiennes, are three students from Baildon-based Articulate Agency: Rocco Haynes, 11, Harriet Taylor, 10, and Hayley Walters, 19. Rocco and Harriet with members of the cast in costume Rocco started acting classes aged four and his breakout role was busking in an award-winning Christmas Co-op advert in 2020 with his older brother, Austin. Rocco has since been in TV dramas Gentleman Jack, The A Word and All Creatures Great and Small and films such as Prince Naseem Hamed biopic Giant. Rocco, who spent two months filming 28 Years Later in Scotland and Northumberland, said: "When I landed the role I couldn't believe it! Danny (Boyle) was so kind on set, both he and the Director of Photography, Anthony (Dod Mantle) made me feel completely at ease. The cast and crew were amazing to work with. "Even though it's a scary film, the set was full of energy and excitement. I had a brilliant stuntman, Julian, who taught me how to do my own stunts safely. I'm so grateful to be part of such an incredible film.' Hayley, who has been in TV dramas, Dark Angel and The Dumping Ground, said: "I was doing my A-Levels one day and the next I was filming alongside Aaron Taylor-Johnson, being directed by Danny Boyle, who were so lovely and made me feel so welcome." Harriet, who was in folk horror movie Starve Acre, said: "I had the best time on set. Thank you to all my teachers at Articulate for helping build my confidence, which made me feel at home on set." Aaron Taylor-Johnson: Innovative filming makes 28 Years Later ‘like no other'
The latest installment of the apocalyptic drama franchise is directed by Danny Boyle, who filmed some of the scenes on iPhones. Taylor-Johnson told 6 Music's Nick Grimshaw: 'An iPhone can do that thing where, if someone puts it in your face, it feels very intrusive and makes you feel quite vulnerable. 'It cuts through a barrier that you don't usually have. They were being super innovative with the way they were shooting this film. 'Every day going to work was the most exciting thing, because everything just felt fresh and new. 'Danny creates this environment that allows you to be experimental and you never know if it's going to work, or if it's not going to work. 'But the end product, when you see this movie, it's got a feel that's like no other movie, because they're just inventing ways of shooting.' Taylor-Johnson appears alongside Jodie Comer and Ralph Fiennes in the film, which is set 28 years after the accidental release of a highly contagious virus which caused the breakdown of society. Taylor-Johnson said the movie, which premiered in London's Leicester Square on Wednesday night, is 'very visceral'. But he added 'there's a beautiful family drama within it'. 'It's very grounded, it says a lot about society, ' he said. Taylor-Johnson, who lives in Somerset with his wife Back To Black director Sam Taylor-Johnson, told Grimshaw he does not have a ticket to Glastonbury this year, but often 'at the last minute I find myself there'. 'We usually go every year and it's fantastic,' he said. 'It feels like the kick-off to summer. Our house is packed. We've had a few times where we've actually had yurts in our field and garden. 'It's a laugh to have everyone staying close by, and then we all go in.'
