Oregon lands top prep safety, nephew of Kobe Bryant

June 20 - Oregon landed a commitment from five-star safety Jett Washington, a nephew of the late NBA great Kobe Bryant. Washington ranks as the No. 2 safety and No. 18 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class by 247 Sports. The 6-foot-5, 210-pound prospect posted five interceptions and 38 tackles as a junior at Las Vegas powerhouse Bishop Gorman in 2024. Washington chose coach Dan Lanning and the Ducks after also paying visits to Southern California and Alabama. "I loved the way they treated me out there," Washington told ESPN. "My relationship with them has been going the right way ever since I started talking to them." Like his famous uncle, Washington also plays basketball and helped Bishop Gorman win the Nevada Class 5A state title this season. --Field Level Media

Where 5-Star Jett Washington ranks among Oregon's all-time highest-rated commits

Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks scored a massive victory on the recruiting trail on Thursday night, getting a commitment from 5-star safety Jett Washington, the second 5-star player they've added to the 2026 class. Washington stands at 6-foot-5, 200 pounds, and is rated by 247Sports as the No. 18 player in the 2026 class, and the No. 2 safety. With the addition of Washington, Oregon jumped up to No. 27 in the recruiting rankings for this cycle, and there's a belief that they will continue to climb quickly with more top-ranked players coming off the board shortly. Advertisement What's more interesting to note, though, is where Washington ranks among the top players, and top safeties to ever commit to the Ducks. Here's a look at where he stands when it comes to the best safeties ever to join Oregon: No. 5 — Tyree Robinson (4-star, 0.9337) — Class of 2013 No. 4 — Steve Stephens (4-star, 0.9430) — Class of 2018 No. 3 — Aaron Flowers (4-star, 0.9717) — Class of 2024 No. 2 — Trey McNutt (5-star, 0.9843) — Class of 2025 No. 1 — Jett Washington (5-star, 0.9846) — Class of 2026 While Washington's standing among safeties in Oregon history is elite, he also will go down as one of the top-ranked overall players to commit to the Ducks as well. EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux (5-star, 0.9987) — Class of 2019 WR Dakorien Moore (5-star, 0.9981) — Class of 2025 LB Justin Flowe (5-star, 0.9967) — Class of 2020 DL Haloti Ngata (5-star, 0.9962) — Class of 2002 RB Jonathan Stewart (5-star, 0.9952) — Class of 2005 CB Na'eem Offord (5-star, 0.9936) — Class of 2025 LB Noah Sewell (5-star, 0.9935) — Class of 2020 WR Cameron Colvin (5-star, 0.9932) — Class of 2004 RB De'Anthony Thomas (5-star, 0.9926) — Class of 2011 OT Josh Conerly (5-star, 0.9918) — Class of 2022 DL Arik Armstead (5-star, 0.9917) — Class of 2012 DLL Canton Kaumatule (5-star, 0.9909) — Class of 2015 RB Thomas Tyner (5-star, 0.9907) — Class of 2013 TE Kendre Harrison (5-star, 0.9894) — Class of 2026 WR Jurrion Dickey (5-star, 0.9857) — Class of 2023 S Jett Washington (5-star, 0.9846) — Class of 2026 S Trey McNutt (5-star, 0.9843) — Class of 2025 RB Lache Seastrung (5-star, 0.9841) — Class of 2010 CB Dontae Manning (5-star, 0.9840) — Class of 2020 RB Royce Freeman (4-star, 0.9831) — Class of 2014 When looking at those rankings, two things stand out at first glance: One, Oregon's 2025 class was loaded at the top, with 5-star Dakorien Moore (No. 2 all-time), 5-star Na'eem Offord (No. 8 all-time), and 5-star Trey McNutt (No. 17 all-time) in the class. Second, Oregon's 2026 class is stacking up nicely, with both Kendre Harrison and Washington ranking as the No. 14 and No. 16 all-time recruits for the Ducks. If the Ducks can land 5-star OT Immanuel Iheanacho soon, as is the expectation, it would get even better, with 'Nacho' taking over the No. 4 spot on Oregon's all-time list, moving ahead of Haloti Ngata. BREAKING: Oregon Ducks land commitment from 5-star S Jett Washington

The Oregon Ducks are officially on a recruiting hot streak. After landing 4-star wide receiver Messiah Hampton on Friday morning, Dan Lanning and his squad followed it up with a massive addition, getting a commitment from 5-star safety Jett Washington. Advertisement Standing at 6-foot-5, 200 pounds, Washington is rated by 247Sports as the No. 18 player and No. 2 safety in the 2026 class. Washington is Oregon's second safety committed in the 2026 class, joining 4-star Xavier Lherisse. Washington was in Eugene last weekend for his official visit, and he had rave reviews after leaving Eugene. He was one of six 5-star players in town during the first weekend of June, joining the likes of S Joey O'Brien, EDGE Ricahed Wesley, WR Calvin Russell, CB Brandon Arrington, and LB Tyler Atkinson. Oregon had the No. 33-ranked class in the 2026 cycle before the addition of Washington, but they jumped up to No. 22 after adding the second 5-star recruit to their class. Going forward, there is a feeling that this hot streak will continue for Oregon, with a number of high-profile recruits coming to town this month for their visits. The Ducks are in good standing for the likes of 5-stars Ryder Lyons, Immanue Iheanacho, Anthony Jones, Calvin Russell, and many others. Oregon football picks up prediction to land fast-rising QB in 2026 class

Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks are gearing up for what looks like an eventful summer of recruiting, with a potential hot streak not far off. With a number of 5-star and blue-chip prospects on campus this month for official visits, Oregon is in line to boost its 2026 class majorly. On Monday, they saw a prediction come in for them to get a valuable member of the class, too — fast-rising quarterback prospect Bryson Beaver. Advertisement Few players in the nation have had as busy of a week in the recruiting world as Beaver, who was committed to the Boise State Broncos as a 3-star less than a week ago. However, Oregon offered him last week, and he has since seen his rating bump up to a 4-star on On3, received offers from a pair of SEC schools, and taken visits to the Ole Miss Rebels and Alabama Crimson Tide. It came out on Monday that Beaver was taking an official visit to Oregon this coming weekend, and 247Sports recruiting analyst Blair Angulo also logged a Crystal Ball prediction for Beaver to commit to the Ducks. Beaver's rating on 247Sports is far below where On3 has him, leading to some debate about where he currently stands in the recruiting world. While On3 rates Beaver as a 4-star prospect and the No. 19 QB in the 2026 class, 247Sports has him as a 3-star and the No. 71 QB in the class. Regardless of what the ratings say, Oregon is obviously intrigued by what Beaver brings to the table, and they want him as a member of their 2026 class. The Ducks are also in on 5-star QB Ryder Lyons, who took an official to Eugene last weekend. Lyons is going to decide between Oregon and the BYU Cougars in the near future, but he is planning to take an LDS mission out of high school, so he is more like a member of the 2027 class. Oregon leads for Rivals250 OL Jayden Dean following first visit

Courtesy of Jayden Dean Jayden Dean has been a known commodity for years in South Florida. He has anchored the offensive line at two of the area's most storied prep programs, Miami (Fla.) Norland before Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas. Advertisement It has helped the 2027 four-star to nearly 40 scholarship offers to date. They continue to roll in, like Oregon did in late May, with the rising-junior looking to make visits to learn more about new options. The Ducks hosted him over the weekend and each side was impressed with the other. "We went up there for camp, met the coaching staff in Coach (Dan) Lanning, Coach (A'lique) Terry, the GA's and all," Dean told Rivals. "It was great up there. I got to see how they coach the offensive line and go through drills, how they want certain kick steps -- if they want a 45 (degree) or a vert. "I loved it." Advertisement The process of actually working with the potential player-coach battery while in Eugene is part of the reason the Ducks are surging up the list for the top-five interior offensive line projection. "They're recruiting me hard," Dean said. "It looks like they're winning right had the best center in the country two years in a row. They win the Joe Moore award and every position got picked in the draft this year. "They're up there for me. I plan on taking a few more visits, but this may be the school where I call home." "They coach their guys to prepare for the prepare them to be versatile, too, and that's a great thing for me." It looks like the Duck target will work logistics to see if a return trip during the 2025 season is possible. Ohio State, Michigan and Florida State are other programs likely to soon host the South Florida native. Next on the visit list, though, is Florida as Dean will make an unofficial visit to Gainesville before the end of the week. As the trips compile, the concept of a potential early commitment is on the table. "I plan on breaking my list down to top schools after these next few visits I have," Dean said. "After that it's about finding the place I'll call home."
