The Wings, who have yet to beat a Western Conference opponent this season, are clearly in need of a spark. Paige Bueckers, in her first WNBA season, has been one of the bright spots for Dallas. Although she has missed four of the team's 12 games, she leads the Wings in scoring at 17.4 points per game. Dallas hopes a special boost on Tuesday night can help her and the team secure a second win of the season. On Monday, UConn coaching legend Geno Auriemma had a noteworthy announcement made about his presence: "Geno Auriemma says he'll be in Dallas tomorrow night for the Golden State-Wings game." It'll be the first time the 71-year-old head coach has attended one of Bueckers' professional games. Auriemma, who has guided the UConn Huskies to 12 NCAA tournament titles, coached Bueckers throughout her collegiate career. Stars Trade Forward, Unload Cap Space
The Dallas Stars traded Mason Marchment to the Seattle Kraken for a third and fourth round pick on Thursday evening. The news comes mere hours after signing forward Matt Duchene to a four year, $4.5 million deal. Duchene was linemates with Marchment and had undeniable chemistry along with Tyler Seguin that made one of the best lines in hockey over the past two seasons. Mandatory Credit: Jerome Miron-Imagn I Marchment had one year left on a four year, $4.5 million deal, the exact deal General Manager Jim Nill gave Duchene. Marchment was set to become an unrestricted free agent after next season and will likely demand a higher number than what he is currently making. His bruising style and flair for the dramatic are part of what drive him to be a valuable asset, and with a breakout year, he could secure a lucrative deal next off-season. Advertisement Surely, Dallas would have decided to keep Marchment if at all possible, but the salary cap dictated that the Stars simply had to move out at least one contract to make the last few moves of the summer. Dallas only had under $500k of cap space to work with after the Duchene deal, which was not even enough to sign a minimum salary player, let alone Jamie Benn or perhaps Mikael Granlund. With only one year left before Marchment might walk away based on the salary cap situation for Dallas next off-season, the Stars chose to get a couple of draft picks in return now instead of waiting. The question mark now becomes who replaces Marchment on the line next to Seguin and Duchene. Dallas is in win-now mode and needs every line to perform at its highest level in order to make the Stanley Cup Final. If Dallas needs to move more money, Matt Dumba or Ilya Lyubushkin have one and two more years on deals worth over $3 million each. Depending on what Nill has left on his to-do list, the Stars could be looking for suitors for one or both of those defensemen signed last off-season. Advertisement Marchment finished each of his last two seasons with 22 goals and added 56 assists. He had a rough first season, only potting 12 goals and 19 assists while being -6. On the line with Duchene and Seguin, he found a place to thrive, with a phenomenal +37 rating over those two seasons. The Kraken will welcome his goal scoring after a difficult season of being one of the worst scoring teams and missing the playoffs by a mile. NBA team owner Mark Cuban reveals he rejected stunning offer from Kamala Harris ahead of election loss to Trump
NBA team minority owner Mark Cuban has revealed that Kamala Harris ' ticket for last November's election could have looked very different. The former Shark Tank personality, who owns a 27 percent stake in the Dallas Mavericks, has shared that the former Vice President had reached out to him amid last year's Race to the White House. The 66-year-old claimed that Harris' team had asked him to submit vetting materials to be considered for her running mate in the 2024 campaign. But Cuban, despite being outspoken in his opposition of Donald Trump, surprisingly turned the Democratic hopeful down. The Bulwark's Tim Miller quizzed Cuban on the rumor Thursday, asking: 'Somebody I kind of trust said that they asked you to send in VP vetting papers and you said, "No, the list would be too long." Is that true?' Cuban, who campaigned for Harris, admitted that it was before going on to explain why he passed over the offer. Harris ultimately selected Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate but was defeated at the ballot box by Trump and Vice President JD Vance. 'I mean, obviously it would have been different,' Cuban added. 'My personality is completely different than Tim's. My experiences, my backgrounds are completely different. 'I think I've cut through the s*** more directly. I'm not a politician. And so it would have been different, but it would have been awful,' Cuban joked, 'She would have fired me within six days.' 'It would have been better than the present situation, you know?' Miller retorted. 'Well, yes, that's true. But, you know, I really thought she was going to win,' Cuban replied. Cuban hit out at Trump in the build up to last year's election, taking aim at the president's golf game in an email to 'I can out drive him by 100 yards,' the 66-year-old Cuban wrote of the 78-year-old Trump in an email to It came after Trump had bizarrely claimed that Cuban has 'really low clubhead speed' and is 'a total non-athlete.' Typically Cuban has attacked Trump's business acumen, understanding of tariffs, and his failure to hold his 2016 campaign promise of building a border wall and making Mexico pay for it. 'This man has so little understanding of tariffs, he thinks that China pays for that. This is the same guy who also thought that Mexico would pay for the wall,' Cuban told an audience in the battleground state of Wisconsin. 'Did Mexico pay for that wall?,' Cuban asked the crowd, who responded, 'no.' In addition to his bitter tiff with the president over their golf games last October, Cuban has been highly critical of Trump. The entrepreneur campaigned for Harris in the buildup to her ultimate defeat at the ballot box last November and took aim at Trump's inner circle. 'Donald Trump – you never see him around strong, intelligent women, ever. It's just that simple,' Cuban said on The View last November. 'It's just that simple. They're intimidating to him. He doesn't like to be challenged by them,' Cuban added. Trump's national press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the comments were 'extremely insulting to the thousands of women who work for President Trump, and the tens of millions of women who are proudly voting for him.' Cuban later apologized, saying he 'didn't get it out exactly the way I thought I did.' In August of last year, the wealthy 'shark' made it clear that his support had shifted from Trump to Harris after 'he got to know him,' according to Business Insider. 'I actually started off supporting Donald, and then I got to know him better,' Cuban told Vivek Ramaswamy, a former Republican presidential candidate, during an interview last year. 'I was like, he's great - he's not a typical Stepford candidate. I thought that was a positive,' he added. 'But then I got to know him.' Stars trade Mason Marchment to Kraken for 2 draft picks, free up cap space
The Dallas Stars traded winger Mason Marchment to the Seattle Kraken on Thursday night for two draft picks, starting the process of freeing up cap space as they enter the busy part of the NHL offseason. The Kraken took on all of Marchment's $4.5 million cap hit for next season, according to league sources, and sent a 2026 third-round pick and a 2025 fourth-round pick back to Dallas in return. He signed with the Stars as a free agent in 2022 and put up 56 goals and 131 points in 211 games — reaching the third round of the playoffs each year. Advertisement The cap-clearing trade came just hours after Dallas signed veteran forward Matt Duchene to a four-year extension carrying a $4.5 million AAV. More moves are expected to come in the days and weeks ahead as the Stars look for more roster flexibility. Dallas is already within $5 million of the league's $95.5 million cap ceiling for 2025-26 — leaving them with less room to maneuver than every other team. The Kraken have oodles of cap space to work with and are looking to take a step forward after two years outside of the playoffs. They were drawn to how the 6-foot-5 Marchment can help alter the look and feel of their forward lines. 'I think Mason has a unique combination of size, skill and strength,' Kraken GM Jason Botterill told 'He works well down in the corners and around the net and that's an element we want to continue to add to our group here.' The 30-year-old Marchment has appeared in 302 NHL games for Toronto, Florida and Dallas, putting up 76 goals and 189 points. He's eligible to become an unrestricted free agent in July 2026.
