3 underrated HBO Max movies you should watch this weekend (June 20-22)
Fans of documentaries will notice several high-profile ones on the HBO homepage. One of the latest offerings is Surviving Ohio State, an in-depth look into the Ohio State sexual abuse scandal that went unnoticed for two decades. The other docuseries involves Karen Read's murder case, which is fresh in the news after the stunning verdict. Documentaries are not the only projects on HBO Max. There is an abundance of underrated movies ready to stream with the click of a button. One of those movies is Cleaner, a new action thriller about a former soldier thrust into a hostage situation. Stream Cleaner and two more movies below. Recommended Videos We also have guides to the best new movies to stream, the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, the best movies on Amazon Prime Video, the best movies on Max, and the best movies on Disney+. Cleaner (2025) Die Hard on/in a (blank) is one of the most successful action movie templates. Die Hard on a bus is Speed, Die Hard on a plane is Air Force One, and Die Hard on a ship is Under Siege. Let's add Die Hard in a London skyscraper, Cleaner, to the canon. Daisy Ridley stars as Joey Locke, a former soldier who escaped her London household with her brother (Matthew Tuck) after years of abuse. Joey now works as a window cleaner at One Canada Square, the third-tallest building in the UK. On the day Michael accompanies her to work, environmental extremists, led by Marcus Blake (Clive Owen), interrupt an energy company's gala and take the guests as hostages. Unbeknownst to Joey, Michael is stuck in the building. It's time for the window cleaner to channel her inner John McClane and save the day. Stream Cleaner on Max. Dredd (2012) One of the mysteries surrounding Dredd is the involvement of writer Alex Garland. Did he take over for Pete Travis and direct the movie? After over a decade of rumors, Garland finally came clean this year to GQ, admitting to 'ghost-directing' the sci-fi action film. Knowing Garland's filmmaking style now, it's clear the Ex Machina director stepped in and improved Dredd. Based on the Judge Dredd comic strip, Dredd introduces audiences to Mega City One, an overcrowded and violent metropolis on the East Coast. Nearly 20,000 crimes are reported daily. The only semblance of the law exists with the judges — cops who are judge, jury, and executioner. The most prominent judge is Dredd (Karl Urban). The famed judge and a rookie judge (Olivia Thirlby) must restore order to a 200-story high-rise apartment run by drug lord Ma-Ma (Lena Headey). With terrific special effects and gritty action, Garland might be the best sci-fi filmmaker currently in Hollywood. Stream Dredd on Max. Love Lies Bleeding (2024) Love Lies Bleeding has the vibes of Natural Born Killers and a Coen Brothers neo-noir. Set in 1989, the romantic thriller chronicles the lesbian relationship between Lou (Kristen Stewart), a hermit-like gym owner, and Jackie (Katy O'Brian), a bodybuilder preparing for a competition in Las Vegas. The two sleep together and fall in love. Lou even supplies Jackie with steroids to compete at a higher level. Things take a sinister turn after Lou and Jackie are caught in a murder conspiracy that requires a cover-up. We'll stop there to avoid spoilers. Expect blood, sex, and violence in this brutal and effective thriller. Stream Love Lies Bleeding on Max.

Mark Hamill Rules Out Doing More ‘Star Wars'
Don't expect to see Luke Skywalker in any of the upcoming films Lucasfilm has planned — even as a spectral Force Ghost. The 73-year-old actor, who has appeared in five live-action Star Wars films and made de-aged cameos in The Mandalorian TV series, suggested that Skywalker's run is over — and should be over. More from The Hollywood Reporter 'Andor' Team Breaks Down Their Favorite Series Moments, Including That Mon Mothma Speech Ryan Reynolds Wants Disney to "Gamble" on an R-Rated 'Star Wars' Project Disney, Epic Games Using AI to Bring James Earl Jones' Darth Vader Voice to 'Fortnite' 'I am so grateful to [creator George Lucas] for letting me be a part of that back in the day, the humble days when George called Star Wars 'the most expensive low-budget movie ever made,'' said Hamill during an interview with to promote his new film, the Stephen King adaptation The Life of Chuck. 'We never expected it to become a permanent franchise and a part of pop culture like that. But my deal is, I had my time. I'm appreciative of that. But I really think they should focus on the future and all the new characters. 'And by the way,' he added, 'when I disappeared in [The Last Jedi], I left my robes behind. And there's no way I'm gonna appear as a naked Force ghost.' The comments come despite Lucasfilm developing a film that would be an obvious project for Skywalker to appear in — a Rise of Skywalker follow-up focused on Daisy Ridley's Rey, who was Skywalker's mentee in the sequel trilogy. The film from director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy picks up roughly 15 years after the events in Skywalker and follows Rey's efforts to build a new Jedi order. The New Order film is only in development, however, along with many other titles. Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy previously teased the film, saying, 'Well, we're 15 years out from Rise of Skywalker, so we're post-war, post-First Order, and the Jedi are in disarray. And, there's a lot of discussion around, 'Who are the Jedi? What are they doing? What's the state of the galaxy?' And, [Rey]'s attempting to rebuild the Jedi Order, based on the books, based on what she promised Luke, so that's where we're going.' The next confirmed Star Wars title is The Mandalorian & Grogu coming May 22, 2026, followed a year later by Star Wars: Starfighter from Shawn Levy and starring Ryan Gosling. Regarding Hamill's joking comment about leaving his robes behind, he and the late Carrie Fisher appeared as force ghosts at the end of Rise of Skywalker, and he indeed was robed. And hardcore Star Wars fans will counter that in 1977's A New Hope, when Darth Vader killed Obi-Wan Kenobi, his robes were also left behind — but Alec Guinness still appeared in his robes when he showed up as a Force Ghost in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Hamill's career has been busier than ever the last few years. The Life of Chuck is a sci-fi adaptation of a Stephen King story from Hamill's The Fall of the House of Usher filmmaker Mike Flanagan this month. He also stars in another King adaptation, the long-awaited adaptation of the author's cult favorite novel The Long Walk, which is out in September. The Boys star Erin Moriarty reveals she's fighting the same autoimmune disease as Wendy Williams
Erin Moriarty gave a health update to her fans and revealed that she is currently battling an autoimmune disorder called Graves' disease. The Boys actress, 30 - who quit social media amid plastic surgery allegations last year - jumped to Instagram this week to get candid with her 2 million followers about her own 'experience.' The star uploaded a series of snaps, which included selfies and other moments from her life in recent months. 'Autoimmune disease manifests differently in everybody/every body,' Moriarty penned in the caption. 'Your experience will be different from mine. My experience will be different from yours. Perhaps greatly, perhaps minutely. 'One thing I can say: if I hadn't chalked it all up to stress and fatigue, I would've caught this sooner. A month ago, I was diagnosed with Graves' disease.' Wendy Williams is another celebrity who has been open about her battle with the autoimmune disorder, as well as Daisy Ridley and Missy Elliott. The disease is caused by an overproduction of thyroid hormones - with some symptoms being fatigue, bulging eyes, heart palpitations, and anxiety, per Mayo Clinic. Erin explained that following the diagnosis, she began undergoing treatment for her symptoms which has turned her life around. 'Within 24 hours of beginning treatment, I felt the light coming back on. It's been increasing in strength ever since.' In conclusion, the actress encouraged on getting health checks and wrote, 'If yours is dimming, even slightly, go get checked. Don't "suck it up" and transcend suffering; you deserve to be comfy. S**t's hard enough as is.' In some of the selfies included in the post, Moriarty flashed small smiles towards the camera while other images showed her looking tired. Erin further showed her struggles with symptoms in text message conversations she previously had with her parents. While talking to her mom, the actress had typed out: 'I'm serious; I really really need relief. I feel nauseated tonight. I feel so s**t and removed from who I am, I can't live like this forever. Or that long. 'There aren't moments anymore, not even a passing 5 seconds, when I feel normal. I've never had that. Not one.' 'Autoimmune disease manifests differently in everybody/every body,' Moriarty penned in the caption. 'Your experience will be different from mine. My experience will be different from yours. Perhaps greatly, perhaps minutely' Wendy Williams is another celebrity who has been open about her battle with the autoimmune disorder, as well as Daisy Ridley and Missy Elliott; Williams seen in 2019 in NYC Erin further showed her struggles with symptoms in text message conversations she previously had with her parents Moriarty had emotionally added, 'It's not just fatigue - it's an ineffable, system wide cry for help and I don't know how long I can remain in this state.' She also shared a screenshot of a text that she sent to her dad seemingly after she had started treatment. It read: 'I already feel a world of a difference, primary thought (as of now): "d**m, this is how I'm supposed to feel? I've been missing out!" xx.' Erin is known for her role in the Amazon Prime Video series The Boys as Annie January/Starlight. She has also starred in other shows including Marvel's Jessica Jones, True Detective and Red Widow. Moriarty has appeared in a number of films over the years such as The Kings Of Summer, Captain Fantastic and Catching Dust. Earlier last year in January, the actress notably quit social media after Megyn Kelly accused her of being 'obsessed' with plastic surgery. Kelly had stated at the time, 'She's got the Kim Kardashian lips, she's made her nose so skinny, it looks like a pencil now... I find it like a sign of mental illness.' Megyn also added, 'She's got, like, what appear[s] to me to be cheek implants. More and more young women are doing this. 'It's not about an objection to plastic surgery, it's about an obsession with turning yourself into this fake version of yourself... I find it like a sign of mental illness. 'It's extremely upsetting. It's just a massive turnoff to me. I really want to get in the heads of these young girls and say, "Please don't do this."' In response, Moriarty penned a lengthy statement while also announcing that she would be taking taking an 'extensive, if not permanent' break from Instagram. Erin wrote to her fans, 'The only reason I have not deactivated my account is because I will be leaving this here. Otherwise, consider it deactivated. I will not have access to it for an extensive if not permanent break. 'Social media is not something that came naturally to me and that was an investment of energy to connect with you guys.' The actress said she was 'horrified by the reaction, the reductive assumptions, and the aforementioned video [of Kelly's comments] that is a primary example of such harassment. 'It's broken my heart. You've broken my heart. You've lost the privilege of this account.' In response, Moriarty penned a lengthy statement while also announcing that she would be taking taking an 'extensive, if not permanent' break from Instagram Moriarty continued, 'The way that this has been spoken about, the way that I have been spoken to, I will not accept. I have been in a hole and I've been consumed by this personal situation at hand. 'You never know what someone is going through, social media is a platform that is not representative of a whole person, and irregardless there is no excuse for the words that have been spoken directly to me or about me.' The star explained at the time that she had recently undergone a stressful time which resulted her in losing weight. 'You learn to become Teflon and move on - I had NO idea what was going on this time. 'To receive a message about a disgustingly false, counterproductive to the degree of being ironically misogynistic video of Megyn Kelly commenting on the manner - to learn the widespread nature of this has left me horrified.' She also added, 'How utterly misinformed, inaccurate, and clickbait seeking people who we follow and consider to be informed is appalling...' Not long after leaving social media, the actress was seen in Los Angeles for a solo outing.

Star Wars icon Mark Hamill finally reveals if he's quit franchise after nearly 50 years as Luke Skywalker
Star Wars legend Mark Hamill has finally revealed his future in the iconic franchise after nearly 50 years playing Luke Skywalker. The 73-year-old actor - who made his debut as the Jedi in 1977's Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope with Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher, emotionally discussed hanging up his lightsaber in an interview with Willie Geist, which will air on Sunday Today. Now, with the announcement a new Star Wars film starring Daisy Ridley 's Rey is in development, Hamill revealed he won't be back for a starring role, but is adamant he did not quit. He said: 'Well, let me say: they haven't asked me. It's not like they said, 'Please come back.'' 'I don't want to make a big PR pronouncement like "This is my decision,"' 'I'm just saying that it really felt like a conclusion. My character was given complete closure. I died, ironically by overdosing on the Force, I might point out.' Hamill starred as Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars trilogy; which also included 1980's Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back and 1983's Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi. He then reprised the role again in 2015's the Force Awakens. In the 2017 film The Last Jedi, Skywalker dies at the end, melding with The Force. He put on the mantel for what appeared to be the final time in 2019's The Rise of Skywalker, as Luke's spirit. Hamill said completing the Skywalker trilogy allowed for other adventures under the Star Wars umbrella. 'It was a whole new era for them,' the action star explained. 'George (Lucas) gave them this amazing canvas, the entire galaxy. They can do westerns, mysteries, comedies, whodunits, anything within that realm of Star Wars,' he said. 'And they're doing so well' he added. 'I love Rogue One, Mandalorian, Book of Boba Fett.' Hamill made brief appearances in both The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett as Luke with the help of de-aging and motion capture effects. 'I had my time,' he said of his tenure in the 'galaxy far, far away.' 'I'm really appreciative, but I'm really looking to the future for all these new projects.' Hamill made headlines in late May when he told 'I left my robes behind. And there's no way I'm gonna appear as a naked force ghost.' Responding to the response following his remarks, the BAFTA winner humbly said, 'Well, let me say: they haven't asked me. It's not like they said, "Please come back."' Hamill is currently starring in The Life of Chuck, which opened Friday in theaters, playing the grandfather of the title character, whose life is portrayed over the years by four different actors. 'It's so positive. It's so optimistic about life,' he said of the story based on a Stephen King novella. It also teaches you there are moments that, in life, you think are trivial that collectively become very important.' Fans can see the full interview with Hamill June 15, Father's day on Sunday Today.

From gritty spy thrillers to psychological dramas and over-the-top comedies, there's something for every kind of viewer. Prime Video leads the charge with Deep Cover, a crime comedy about improv actors posing as gangsters. Meanwhile, The Amateur starring Rami Malek takes a slower, more emotional approach to espionage. This week's watchlist of movies on Amazon Prime, Disney Plus and Apple TV Clown in a Cornfield (PVOD) Based on the YA horror novel by Adam Cesare, Clown in a Cornfield follows a group of teens terrorized by a murderous clown named Frendo in rural America. While the premise promises campy fun, the final product stumbles with inconsistent tone, weak characters, and awkward humour. Still, slasher fans may enjoy the gory kills and eccentric costume design. If you're in the mood for late-night horror and don't mind some messiness, this might still scratch the itch. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Buy or rent on Amazon from June 10 The Amateur (PVOD) Rami Malek stars in The Amateur, a grounded espionage thriller that veers away from gadget-laden action and toward emotional intensity. After losing someone close, Malek's character of a CIA codebreaker defies agency protocol and dives headfirst into a covert revenge mission. Directed by James Hawes, the film favors quiet tension and inner conflict over car chases and explosions. Also starring Rachel Brosnahan, Jon Bernthal, and Laurence Fishburne, this is a thoughtful, moody watch for fans of serious thrillers. Buy or rent on Amazon from June 10 Snow White (Disney Plus) Rachel Zegler steps into the iconic role of Snow White in this live-action reimagining directed by Marc Webb. The film attempts to modernize the fairy tale with updated themes and original musical elements. While visually striking and featuring a charming lead performance, it falls short of recapturing the classic's timeless charm. Despite mixed reviews, younger audiences and longtime Disney fans may find it a cozy, family-friendly pick. Streams on Disney Plus from June 11 Deep Cover (Prime Video) In Deep Cover, Bryce Dallas Howard plays Kat, an improv teacher who unexpectedly finds herself helping an undercover cop (Sean Bean) infiltrate London's criminal underworld. She recruits two of her eccentric students (Orlando Bloom and Nick Mohammed) to play fake gangsters, setting off a chain of chaotic and comedic events. Streams on Prime Video from June 12 Absolution (Hulu) Liam Neeson stars in this noir-inspired drama as a worn-out mob enforcer grappling with memory loss and seeking reconciliation with his estranged daughter. While Absolution doesn't break new ground, it leans into the kind of gritty, emotionally heavy territory Neeson excels at. Directed by Hans Petter Moland, the film delivers a solid mix of brooding atmosphere and moral reflection. Streams on Hulu from June 13 Cleaner (HBO Max) Cleaner follows Joey (Daisy Ridley), a former soldier turned window cleaner who finds herself dangling outside a skyscraper during an eco-terrorist hostage crisis. Trapped between the attackers and 300 captives inside, Joey must use her military past to try and save lives. Streams on HBO Max from June 13 Echo Valley (Apple TV Plus) Julianne Moore and Sydney Sweeney lead this emotional psychological thriller written by Mare of Easttown creator Brad Ingelsby. Moore plays Kate, a horse trainer living a quiet life until her daughter Claire (Sweeney) arrives bloodied and shaken. What follows is a slow-burning unraveling of secrets, trauma, and moral ambiguity. With Domhnall Gleeson joining the cast as a mysterious figure from Claire's past, Echo Valley is poised to be a standout for fans of dark, character-driven drama. Streams on Apple TV Plus from June 14
