New York Giants ink 13 undrafted free agents before start of rookie minicamp
New York Giants ink 13 undrafted free agents before start of rookie minicamp The New York Giants signed 13 undrafted free agents before their rookie minicamp on Friday. Those players are as follows: RB Rushawn Baker, Elon WR Jordan Bly, Gardner-Webb WR Dalen Cambre, Louisiana WR Beaux Collins, Notre Dame CB RJ Delancy III, Wisconsin WR Da'Quan Felton, Virginia Tech OLB Trace Ford, Oklahoma CB O'Donnell Fortune, South Carolina S Tommy McCormick, Idaho S Makari Paige, Michigan TE Jermaine Terry II, Oregon State WR Antwane Wells Jr., Ole Miss OL Jaison Williams, Youngstown State The Giants brought a total of 80 players to their minicamp -- their seven draft picks, 13 UDFAs, two players already on their 90-man roster, along with 58 tryout players. The Giants are still looking for depth at wide receiver, so that explains why five of the 13 players signed are wideouts. Virginia Tech's Da'Quan Felton is perhaps the most intriguing at 6-foot-5 and 215 pounds. He ran a 4.5 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine in February. "I'm excited to see how this team comes together," general manager Joe Schoen said after the draft. "I like the players that we have. I like the makeup of the players. I'm confident in the coaching staff, and I'm excited for the 2025 season." With 13 rookies signed, the Giants need to clear two spots on the 90-man roster. One of those will become accounted for by the release of defensive lineman Casey Rogers.

Could undrafted free agent Da'Quan Felton make New York Giants' 53-man roster?
Could undrafted free agent Da'Quan Felton make New York Giants' 53-man roster? The New York Giants just completed what they believe will be another banner draft. The seven players they selected are expected to augment their roster and help build for the future. They also signed some interesting rookie free agents after the draft. Teams find all kinds of hidden gems after the draft. This year's group has several interesting names but one seems to stick out here with the Giants: Virginia Tech wide receiver Da'Quan Felton. Brent Sobieski of Bleacher Report has identified Felton as a player who could crack the team's 53-man roster this summer. The Giants signed seven undrafted wide receivers. Virginia Tech's Da'Quan Felton garnered the most interest. The 6'5", 213-pound Felton is another vertical presence, but he didn't produce at a high level due, in large part, to inconsistent quarterback play. The Giants hope they can take his physical traits and develop into something more. Charlotte Carroll of The Athletic also named Felton as the Giants' top UDFA this spring. The Giants mostly returned the same group of receivers as last season. But given the sheer number of wide receivers on this UDFA list (five), it's clear they still view the position in need of some competitive depth. Enter Felton, who is the best available receiver from Brugler's 'The Beast' and an alum of Bruce Feldman's 'Freaks List.' The 6-foot-4, 214-pound Felton has 'upside as a third-level threat,' Brugler said, but he needs to refine his 'route running and finishing skills to capitalize on his physical advantages.' Felton's production dipped in 2024 (32 receptions for 360 yards and two touchdowns versus 38 catches for 667 yards and eight TDs in 2023), but in terms of the Giants' need and his abilities, Felton stands as good a chance as anyone on this list. The Giants need a big body in their wide receiver room—one that can get downfield and cause a mismatch. Their top wideouts are all smallish (Malik Nabers, Wan'Dale Robinson, Jalin Hyatt), with Darius Slayton the tallest at 6-foot-1. The Giants did sign 6-foot-4 Lil'Jordan Humphrey and 6-foot-2 Zach Pascal in free agency but neither is a deep threat.

Report: Colts meet virtually with big-play Virginia Tech WR
Report: Colts meet virtually with big-play Virginia Tech WR The Indianapolis Colts reportedly met virtually with big play Virginia Tech wide receiver Da'Quan Felton. The Indianapolis Colts met virtually with Virginia Tech wide receiver Da'Quan Felton, according to Justin Melo of The Draft Network. Along with the Colts, Felton has also met virtually with San Francisco, Buffalo, and the New York Giants recently as well. Felton has good size, measuring in at 6-046, weighed 213 pounds, and posted a Relative Athletic Score (RAS) of 8.30. This included a 4.5-second 40 and 10-02 in the broad jump. Felton played his first two college seasons at Norfolk and the last two at Virginia Tech. At both stops, he's been a key presence in the passing game, totaling 262 targets over his four seasons. Felton's greatest impact on the field came as a vertical presence. For his career, he averaged 15.3 yards per catch, which includes averaging 17.6 yards per reception in both the 2021 and 2023 seasons. During that 2023 season, Felton's downfield target rate of nearly 39% was the sixth-highest among eligible wide receivers, according to PFF. "I can play bully ball," Felton told Melo in an interview. "I have good feet as well. I can beat a cornerback with my feet at the line of scrimmage because I have a good release package. If I can't win with my feet, I can dominate a cornerback with my size. "I love my release package. I have a huge catch radius as well. I have the ability to go up and attack the ball. I'm always stronger and more physical than the cornerbacks I face in coverage." This past year, Felton's production took a step back. After totaling 667 yards in 2023, he had only 360 yards in 2024. As Lance Zierlein notes, Felton's production suffered from "scheme fit and quarterback play," although drops have been an issue for Felton as well. Zierlein adds that Felton will need a "heavier dose of vertical routes to be effective," but teams will be ready to bet on his speed and measurables to stretch defenses downfield. Zierlein projects that Felton will be a sixth or seventh-round selection. Of note, along with the Colts meeting virtually with Felton, they also had Kansas wide receiver Quentin Skinner on an official 30 visit. Like Felton, Skinner is another downfield threat.

Chiefs scouting report: Virginia Tech Hokies WR Da'Quan Felton
The Kansas City Chiefs drafted plenty of slot receivers in recent years, but the team needs to add some size to its wide receiver room. The 2025 NFL draft primarily features slot options toward the back of the top 100 selections, but a handful of Day 3 prospects possess the height and weight combinations to add another dimension to Kansas City's offense. Senior Bowl Director Jim Nagy lists Virginia Tech Hokies wideout Da'Quan Felton as standing 6'4 1/4″ and weighing 216 lbs with 33-inch arms. Despite his size, Felton quickly eats the cornerback's cushion in off-man and threatens defenses vertically. His speed helps him stack cornerbacks out of press coverage. Felton's speed popped more often in 2023 than in 2024, but Virginia Tech's offense deserves plenty of blame for that decline. Felton's frame presents a large target for press corners. He needs to diversify his release package but already uses swipes to clear the corner's hands before accelerating vertically. Felton identifies and sits in holes in zone coverage at the short and intermediate levels. He works back to the football to prevent defenders from undercutting the throw. Da'Quan Felton is the best run blocking WR in this class. 6-5/221 with a 4.42 40 — James Foster (@NoFlagsFilm) December 9, 2024 Felton isn't twitchy and doesn't break many tackle attempts. However, his acceleration and top speed challenge pursuit angles when he catches the ball in stride on slants and crossing routes. Felton's size makes him an effective stalk blocker to contribute in the run game or on wide receiver screens. Felton's lack of dynamic athleticism and inconsistent ability to separate on complex routes limit his ceiling as a prospect. The Chiefs could begin thinking about calling his name in the draft's middle rounds.
