A Plastic Bag For RM70? YG Entertainment Slammed Over BLACKPINK's Disappointing Tour Merch

Fans are counting down the days to BLACKPINK's (블랙핑크) long-awaited reunion tour 'DEADLINE', which kicks off on 5th July 2025 (Saturday). However, with just two weeks left until the first show and still no comeback, the public is starting to get cross with YG Entertainment. Recently, the agency released merchandise details for BLACKPINK's 'DEADLINE' tour pop-up in Japan. For those wondering, K-pop concerts in Japan often have a different set of merchandise than the rest of the tour. Companies will also hold pop-ups to sell more merchandise before the concert to build hype. Unfortunately, BLACKPINK's recent merchandise list had more fans disappointed than excited. As it turns out, the products for sale consisted of the usual t-shirts, caps and cheering towels with the group and the tour's logo. However, the product that angered BLINKS (BLACKPINK fans) the most was a clear bag made of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), a.k.a plastic, with the BLACKPINK logo. More shockingly, the pop-up sells the plastic bag for 2,500 yen (approximately RM74) each. Understandably, this sparked a lot of backlash for YG Entertainment. Many fans argued that the company is taking advantage of fans looking forward to BLACKPINK's comeback by jacking up prices for cheap and bland merchandise. Some also slammed the lack of consideration for the designs, quipping that the label and the tour's design team are lazy and uncreative. At the same time, fans are expressing outrage toward YG Entertainment for the lack of updates regarding the tour and BLACKPINK's comeback. Many argued that the quartet has no new music released for the tour, despite only two weeks left until the first show. While there are rumours that the group will make their comeback in early July, some lamented that it's too close to the start of the tour. Overall, BLINKs lamented that the company and the group seemed unprepared for the tour. What are your thoughts on this? Do you agree that everything is too rushed? BLACKPINK slammed over $18 plastic bag merch as furious fans call for DEADLINE tour boycott: 'Not buying these Z grade designs'

BLACKPINK is once again trending on K-pop Twitter, but not for the kind of headline-grabbing reason fans were hoping for. Instead of buzz about a long-awaited comeback or new music, the group, comprising Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa, is drawing criticism over their upcoming DEADLINE tour merchandise. With group activities scarce since their last release in 2022, BLINKs have been impatient for a comeback. The announcement of a pop-up merch line could have offered some excitement, but instead, it's added fuel to the fire. BLACKPINK's $18 plastic bag merch sparks fan outrage. The latest controversy erupted after BLACKPINK's BORN PINK: DEADLINE pop-up store unveiled its official merch in Seoul, including a basic black plastic bag being sold for 24,000 KRW (approx. USD 18). The item, featuring only the group's logo, has drawn sharp criticism from BLINKs who feel it's overpriced and underwhelming. Social media was quick to slam the group and their agency, YG Entertainment, with many accusing them of exploiting fans' loyalty while giving them nothing substantial in return. "No effort at all, even for official tour merchandise. And they are even selling plastic bags with the BLACKPINK logo for almost 20 USD? YG Entertainment has been bragging about the "new great team' in charge of BLACKPINK, yet it's all the same trash releases aiming to milk fans," one user wrote. One fan mentioned, "Outdated Blackpink logo and outdated hearts – like this is a combination of all the tour merch together. If it's real, it needs to be Boycott BLACKPINK tour so y'all can get YG panicking." Outdated Blackpink logo, and outdated hearts like this is a combination of all the tour merch together 💀 if it's real it needs to be #boycott_blackpinktour so y'all can get YG panicking YG confirms comeback plans, but fans stay sceptical In response to the backlash against BLACKPINK's delayed comeback, YG Entertainment confirmed that the group will release a new single in July—their first group track since 2022. While the announcement brought some relief, many fans are viewing it as a reactionary move to deflect criticism rather than a well-planned comeback. With limited details and a history of delayed group activities, BLINKs remain cautiously optimistic. For now, the promise of new music is on the horizon but overpriced merch won't be enough to hold fans over. For the unversed, BLACKPINK's highly anticipated DEADLINE World Tour is officially kicking off on July 5, 2025, with the opening shows set at Goyang Stadium in South Korea For all the latest K-drama, K-pop, and Hallyuwood updates, keep following our coverage here.

BLINKs trend 'we want BLACKPINK comeback'; question YG over Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa's absence

For days now, there has been growing buzz surrounding BLACKPINK's comeback. However, the group's prolonged silence has only added to fans' frustration. Initial rumours pointed to a release at the end of June, but on June 19, speculation resurfaced after a media outlet reported that the group is expected to drop a new single in early July. The report cited insiders who claimed that filming for the music video had already begun earlier this month. However, in response to all these claims, YG Entertainment curtly stated, "We will notify you through the group's official promotion schedule," according to allkpop website. The brief comment, while not denying the report, has done little to ease the mounting tension among fans. ITS WAS JUST CONFIRMED BLACKPINK WILL MAKE THEIR COMEBACK IN EARLY JULY FR BLINKS GET UP BLINKs call out YG's silence Since Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa ended their individual contracts with YG Entertainment in 2023, they've each established solo careers and agencies. Despite YG retaining rights to BLACKPINK's group activities, there's been little to no communication about their return as a four-member act. While each member remains active in their own ventures, OT4 fans — known as BLINKs — have been left stranded. Many have had to split attention between solo fandoms, holding onto hope for a reunion that hasn't come. This frustration exploded online, with "WE WANT BLACKPINK COMEBACK" trended on X (formerly Twitter) with fans demanding answers about the absence of the girls and the agency's handling of the group. BLACKPINK, the biggest girl group in the world, hasn't had any songs in over a THOUSAND days. Sources earlier revealed that BLACKPINK filmed a music video on June 6, and YG confirmed the shoot, adding that a globally renowned director is involved. Yet, no teasers, images, or promotional material have followed — and that silence has fans worried. The group's world tour, "DEADLINE," is scheduled to begin July 5–6 at Goyang Stadium. But with no official comeback announcement, fans are left guessing whether the tour will include new music — or if it's yet another performance cycle relying on past hits as the group in total has only 32 songs in their almost 9 year career. #BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR IN GOYANG#블랙핑크 #WORLDTOUR #DEADLINE #DEADLINE_IN_GOYANG #YG For now, the anticipation is matched only by disappointment, as BLINKs continue to ask: Where is BLACKPINK?
