Military working dog is officially retired from Kirtland Air Force Base
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Kirtland Air Force Base is sharing the moment one of its military working dog retired from service. KAFB says Hugo, a nine-year-old German Shepherd, has officially completed his tour of duty after serving seven years at the base. Hugo was a narcotics detection and patrol certified dog who completed more than 9,000 hours of work during his career. KAFB says Hugo conducted 2,530 facility sweeps and 1,256 vehicle sweeps supporting Security Forces. He also supported 17 narcotics raids for 15 squadrons. Albuquerque Fire Rescue reunites trapped ducklings with their mother
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — Albuquerque Fire Rescue helped out a mother duck whose ducklings got trapped in a storm drain. Engine 11 and Rescue 11 were flagged down by the Animal Welfare Department near the UNM duck pond on Monday. Nonetheless, they removed the drain cover, and two firefighters went into the drain to rescue the ducklings. They were were reunited with momma and last seen waddling west towards the pond. Teen pleads guilty for role in attempted car theft turned fatal shooting
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A teenager pleaded guilty for his role in an attempted car theft that resulted in a fatal shooting in December 2023. Investigators say Zane Dougherty was 16-years-old at the time of the incident. News: Governor's Office: Operation Zia Shield is different than situation in California Court documents claim Dougherty, along with, Andres Pedroza, Juanito Montoya, and Yaquez McKenzie attempted to break into Adrian Vallejos' car outside his home in southwest Albuquerque. Documents claim Vallejos confronted the teens while they were attempting to break into his car and they opened fire, killing Vallejos. Dougherty pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery. He faces up to four-and-a-half years in custody of CYD when sentenced. The test will be completed on Thursday between 1 and 3 p.m. on the south end of the base. Bus passenger shot and killed in Taos County
TAOS COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – A passenger was killed when two individuals shot at a bus in Taos County Monday afternoon, according to the North Central Regional Transit District. The NCRTD said the shooting happened while the Blue Bus, which serviced Chili Line route 340, was stopped at the Rancho de Taos Post Office bus stop near the intersection of State Road 68 and San Francisco Street.
