From the beloved food court to its go-to grocery aisles, Costco is a fan favorite store for a reason. The chain is practically always guaranteed to have everything and anything we're on the hunt for. Now, Costco has decided to extend that to the gas pump. At least, in one California city. Following news that Costco is extending its gas station hours, the chain is now sharing another gas station update. The chain will open its first standalone gas station in Mission Viejo, California. While lots of Costco's already have gas stations on site by certain warehouse locations, this is the first time the chain is debuting a unique standalone option. 🍳 SIGN UP to get delicious recipes, handy kitchen hacks & fun food news in our daily Pop Kitchen newsletter 🍳 According to The Orange County Register, Mission Viejo officials say that this gas station will achieve a few Costco milestones. It will have a whopping 40 pumps in anticipation of the estimated 9,500 cars expected to stop there daily anytime between 5 am to 10 pm. In a Reddit thread discussing the new standalone gas station, users were excited to hear about the new Costco addition. 'I think this is a great idea for members since they already have the logistics and will hopefully make the store stations less crowded,' one user wrote. 'A Costco convenience store gas station would be amazing,' someone else commented. While plenty of others in the comments had dreams of a Costco food court beside this gas station, it unfortunately will not be a feature of this gas station. However, that's not expected to slow down the excitement over this gas station anytime soon. Costco members can expect that construction will begin on this new gas station this fall, with plans for this all-new perk to open next Shoppers are Ecstatic About This 'Smart' Highly Anticipated New Feature—But There's Just One Catch first appeared on Parade on Jun 19, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade on Jun 19, 2025, where it first appeared.

4L devotees to gather as Iskcon Temple chariots roll

Bhubaneswar: With Rath Yatra around the corner, preparations are in full swing at the Iskcon Temple in Nayapalli area of Bhubaneswar. Chariot makers, including skilled artisans from Ganjam, are busy crafting the three wooden chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra with intricate carvings and mythological motifs. Each chariot will be meticulously decorated with vibrant fabrics, garlands and traditional artwork narrating stories from the Jagannath lore. This year, the temple authorities estimated that over 4 lakh devotees are likely to stand on the route from the shrine in Nayapalli to the Mausi Ma Temple at Unit VIII, as the three chariots traverse the NH-16 amid tightened security measures and traffic diversions. "When Iskcon decided to construct a temple in Bhubaneswar in the 1980s, founder Prabhupada Maharaj asked Gour Govind Swami, head in Odisha, to place idols of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra in one of the three altars. Gurudev believed that the deities would come to the temple on their own. Surprisingly, a devotee in Old Town area constructed three idols of the deities for a temple in his home. But Lord Jagannath came in his dreams and told him about the newly constructed temple where he wanted to be worshipped with His siblings. Since then, unflinching faith and devotion to the deities have been guiding us," said Upendra Mishra Das, co-president of Iskcon Temple. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Costco Shoppers Say This Wrinkle Cream Is "Actually Worth It" The Skincare Magazine Undo During the initial days, the idols used to be kept on a bus and pulled to a temporary Mausi Ma temple, which had to be erected in open fields in nearby areas. Later, only the Mausi Ma Temple of Iskcon was constructed in Unit VIII area in 2000. "Divine intervention of Lord Jagannath has always guided us. Since pulling the chariots along the NH-16 is not allowed, the chariots crossed the road at CRP Square, from where deities were pulled to the Mausi Ma temple amid a sea of devotees," said Kashinath Pandit Das, vice-president-cum-treasurer of the Iskcon Temple. The Iskcon Temple has become a powerful social and cultural symbol for the city by attracting many foreign devotees. "The festival is about more than just pulling chariots. It is about togetherness, rituals and the joy of participating in something bigger than oneself," said Banamali Jagannath Das, chairman of the festival committee. To ensure safety and crowd management, the temple administration works closely with traffic police and local administration, deploying hundreds of volunteers across strategic points. "Besides, fire personnel and officials of BMC, drainage, health and other line departments work in close coordination to ensure the smooth conduct of Rath Yatra," said Radhakanta Das, chief coordinator of the festival committee.

Costco changing hours for executive members on June 30

Costco is rolling out earlier shopping hours for executive members at U.S. warehouses — a subtle but significant shift nearly a year after raising membership fees for the first time since 2017. Why it matters: The perk is a way to add value to the membership club's top tier and potentially increase the ranks of executive members who make up a higher percentage of sales. Executive members make up more than 47% of Costco's paid memberships but represent 73.1% of sales globally, Costco CFO Gary Millerchip said on a May 29 earnings call. The big picture: The move mirrors a tactic from rival Sam's Club, which has long offered exclusive hours and extra perks to its premium-tier members. Costco previously had early hours for executive members and during the pandemic opened early some days for seniors and members with disabilities. When do Costco executive member hours start? Zoom in: Costco said in an email to members that the new executive member benefits are effective Monday, June 30. Warehouses will open at 9am daily exclusively for executive members. Another new benefit is a $10 monthly credit on same-day or Costco via Instacart orders of $150 or more. New Costco early executive shopping hours The following are Costco's new early shopping hours: Monday to Friday: 9am to 10am Saturday: 9am to 9:30am Sunday: 9am to 10am Yes, but: Locations that had been open at 9am for all members will also make a change. "Our U.S. locations that currently open at 9 am, will transition June 30th to limiting access to Executive Members only during the times outlined," Costco said in a comment on its Instagram post. Clubs will open at 10am weekdays and Sundays for all members and 9:30am on Saturdays. Costco's business centers and gas stations are not affected with the changes. Costco Saturday hours extended for all members What's next: Costco said that "U.S. warehouses will stay open one extra hour on Saturdays, closing at 7 pm for all members." Costco membership cost, executive member benefits Flashback: Costco increased membership fees for both Gold Star and Executive tiers by $5 and $10 respectively, effective Sept. 1, 2024. Gold Star and business membership fees are $65, up from $60. Executive membership fees are double the basic membership's price but members earn a 2% reward on eligible purchases. The $130 annual fee is up from $120. The special hours come after the wholesale club's membership card sharing crackdown went national with scanners at club entrances. The scanners can identify which membership level a member has.

Here's how many people in the Bay Area could be affected by PG&E's potential power outages

Pacific Gas & Electric customers in Alameda, Contra Costa and Santa Clara counties could see scheduled power shutoffs Thursday through this weekend in anticipation of gusty weather. PG&E announced Wednesday that 647 customers in Alameda County, 276 customers in Contra Costa County and 48 customers in Santa Clara County could be affected by 'public safety power shutoffs.' The proactive power outages will be determined based on weather conditions in each location, PG&E said, with forecasts predicting windy weather and dry vegetation raising concerns about fire risk. On Thursday, a deepening upper-level low over the Pacific Northwest will induce a stronger onshore flow into the Bay Area, dragging cooler air inland and whipping up gusts across the region. Temperatures are expected to be cooler Thursday through the weekend. Inland temperatures by Friday and Saturday are expected to be 10 to 15 degrees below average, with even parts of the Central Valley struggling to reach the 80s. 'PG&E initiates PSPS when the fire-weather forecast is severe enough that people's safety, lives, homes and businesses may be in danger of wildfires,' PG&E said in a statement. 'Our overarching goal is to stop catastrophic wildfires by proactively turning off power in targeted areas when extreme weather threatens our electric grid.' On Wednesday, a grass fire in Antioch broke out in the evening, prompting evacuations that were later lifted by 10 p.m. The blaze, known as the Somersville Fire, injured one person. PG&E will have centers in Alameda and Contra Costa counties — at Costco in Livermore and Balfour-Guthrie Park in Southern Brentwood — for affected customers, where there will be power and air conditioning, the utility said.
