ZetaDisplay and COOP Forge Strategic Partnership to Launch Advanced In-Store Retail Media Network
CooP retail media digital signage solution ZetaDisplay has entered into a strategic agreement with Coop Norway to roll out a next-generation Retail Media solution across the retail store's footprint in the region. This milestone partnership aims to enhance the customer journey through data-driven, in-store communications, while offering advertisers a scalable, measurable media platform within grocery retail. Coop is Norway's second-largest grocery retailer, with a portfolio of approximately 1,200 grocery and home improvement stores. As part of the first phase, 128 digital screens will be deployed by ZetaDisplay into 32 of Coop's Obs hypermarkets across Norway. Strategically positioned in high-traffic areas, the screens will serve as dynamic touchpoints for brand messaging and real-time promotions. A curated group of partners has been invited to collaborate on the development and testing of the initial launch. ZetaDisplay will deliver a turnkey Retail Media infrastructure, including state-of-the-art hardware, advanced software, and fully managed services. The solution is designed to deliver contextual and actionable messages at the point of decision-making, enabling new revenue streams for Coop and increased ROI for advertisers. Moment Co-op worker grabs fleeing shoplifter by the THROAT to stop him making off with arms full of stolen items

Video captured at the scene shows a man in a black jacket running from a Co-op store as another female member of staff tries and fails to trip him. 4 4 4 The video which resurfaced recently - after it was filmed last year- shows a pony-tailed woman confronting the burglar in a Co-op in Edgeley, Manchester. It has now gone viral again after recirculating on social media. The woman was seen taking hold of the cowering crook by his neck and pushes him back into the store in Stockport. Footage then shows her forcefully slamming him against a wall and ordering him to drop his haul. She could be heard shouting at the baseball-cap wearing man: "Do you want me again!? Do you want me again!", as she ordered him to put down the stolen items. Two other members of staff then arrive on the scene to try and diffuse the tense situation. The footage has been widely shared on social media, with one person saying: 'We need more people like this.' Another added: 'This is how to deal with thieving scum.' A third added: 'She will probably lose her job for her bravery.' At the time, police had recorded record shopping levels during the previous year - over 430,104 offences had been recorded. Greggs will raise prices next week in hikes branded a 'theft tax', as Sun reporters again witnessed brazen thefts across UK That record was shattered in 2024 when police recorded a staggering 516,971 incidents. Yet only a fifth resulted in a charge while more than half of investigations ended with no suspect identified. The figures from the Office for National Statistics came after a Sun investigation exposed the scale of shoplifting from Greggs. The bakery was hit particularly hard during the surge of shoplifting. Greggs was forced to move several of its sandwiches and drinks behind counters, as they faced a theft every 20 minutes. According to Tom Ironside, a member of the British Retail Consortium, shoplifting is costing businesses over £2billion. 'While the ONS statistics show shoplifting at record levels, the figures severely underestimate the problem. 'They are equivalent to less than two incidents per shop per year. Major supermarket to give shoppers bonus £10 off after cyber attack - but customers aren't happy
Co-op is set to offer its members a discount on its shop after a cyber attack which saw customer data being stolen. The grocery chain said it is offering £10 off a minimum £40 shopping bill after the attack. The one-time offer starts Wednesday and runs for a week and is available to current Co-op members and new sign-ups, but excludes staff. A source at Co-op told the BBC sales have picked up strongly in recent weeks as stock levels have returned to normal. The source added the deal was intended to show that Co-op was 'on the front foot' ahead of the busy summer trading period. But customers are not happy with this offer with one saying: 'This isn't compensation, it's marketing.' Earlier this year, Co-op faced a major cyber attack that disrupted its operations and exposed customer data. In May 2025, hackers broke into the supermarket's IT systems, stealing past and present member information. The criminal group calling itself DragonForce, said it had infiltrated the company's IT network and stolen both customer and employee data in its cyber attack. This incident was part of a wider wave of attacks hitting other UK retailers like Harrods and M&S. Now, the brand is offering this discount in a bid to woo its customers but retail consultant Catherine Shuttleworth said the offer showed that members may have already decided to go elsewhere for their shopping. The brand said if members spend £40 or more in store, they will get £10 off their shop. But Ms Shuttleworth said the £40 minimum spend is too high for Co-op shoppers, who usually spend around £10 to £15. Customers have also echoed this sentiment, with one taking to social media, saying: 'What a joke, a £40 shop at the co-op is basically a £30 shop anywhere else 'Don't think I've ever spent more than £20, there's a reason I only pop in for a few bits that the weekly shop didn't cover 'This isn't compensation, it's marketing.' Another shopper said: 'So that would bring a £30 shop elsewhere down to £35 at the Co-op.' The retail giant initially downplayed the attack by saying it had 'pre-emptively' shut down parts of its IT network after detecting an attempted breach. But the anonymous hackers behind DragonForce contacted the BBC with evidence of databases they had accessed, containing the user names and passwords of all employees, as well as customer membership card numbers, their names, home and email addresses and phone numbers. The BBC said hackers sent the first extortion message to Co-op's head of cyber security in an internal Microsoft Teams chat on April 25. The message read: 'Hello, we exfiltrated the data from your company. We have customer database, and Co-op member card data.' The chain conceded 'personal data such as names and contact details' had been taken from its membership scheme after the devastating scale of the attack was revealed. Major supermarket launches ‘thank you' scheme with free perks for shoppers following cyber attack
A MAJOR supermarket has launched a scheme with free perks to thank shoppers for their support following a recent cyber attack. The Co-op said its 2,300 stores had returned to usual trading after it was hit with a crippling cyber attack last month, which left some shelves empty and forced it to shut down parts of its IT system. Co-op members can get £10 off when they spend £40 in stores from Wednesday, June 18 - but shoppers only have one week to claim the deal. It said the discount scheme, which is also available to new Co-op members, was launched to thank customers for their support during the "challenging period". The deal is available from Wednesday until midnight on Tuesday, June 24, at stores nationwide, and can only be used for one shop. Meanwhile, shoppers who wish to order online can get £5 off a £30 grocery shop from the retailer's website. Co-op managing director Matt Hood said: 'I'm very proud that, thanks to the work of our colleagues, we are very near to making a full and complete recovery from the recent cyber-attack on our Co-op, and I'm delighted to see our stores looking back to normal and being able to serve our shoppers and communities. 'We are so grateful to our member owners for their support and patience with us during what was a very difficult time and hope this gesture of appreciation goes a little way to showing them our thanks, with more value rewards to come over the summer. "Co-op stores are now full of summer products, providing great value and good quality food and drink, so there is lots to choose from for our members to use the thank you offer." The scheme is believed to be the first of its kind launched by a retailer to thank customers following a cyber attack, and comes after a number of businesses were hit by hacks this year. The Co-op declared it had been hit by a cyber attack on April 30, saying in a letter to staff that it had "taken proactive steps to keep our systems safe", including restricting access to certain IT systems. Shoppers reported seeing empty shelves in some branches, with some stores unable to take card payments and staff saying they were having to scan all deliveries by hand. Days later it was revealed that the personal data of a "significant number" of its 6.2million customers had been stolen, including names, contact information and dates of birth. However, the Co-op said this did not include passwords, bank or credit card details. The Co-op's online orders resumed on May 14 as it switched back on its systems. What happened at M&S? Marks and Spencer also suffered a cyber attack in April, with its contactless payments going down and disruption to click and collect orders. The supermarket was then forced to suspend all online orders through its app and website for six weeks, with its website reopening to shoppers last week. The cyber attack kicked off over Easter weekend and was one of the worst to hit the high street in years. As well as suspending online orders, it suffered major supply chain issues, with bananas, fish and the iconic Colin the Caterpillar cakes among the items reported missing from shelves. Some smaller stores were also forced to temporarily suspend their meal deal offers. M&S also said that some personal information had been taken by the hackers, but that this did not include useable card or payment details or passwords. Separately, Co-op is to make a major change across all its stores by replacing paper product tags with electronic labels over the coming months. The change has already been rolled out in 340 branches, but will be introduced more widely this year and into 2026. The new electronic labels will show allergen and nutritional information and products' country of origin, as well as deals and savings.
