'Strategy Was Wrong...Didn't Capitalise': Former F1 Champion Lambasts Ferrari For 'Clumsy Weekend' At Canadian GP
Last Updated: Rosberg criticized Ferrari's chaotic Canadian Grand Prix, calling it a "clumsy weekend" that highlighted their lacklustre season, causing them to slip to third in the standings. Nico Rosberg didn't hold back as he evaluated Ferrari's chaotic Canadian Grand Prix, describing it as a 'clumsy weekend" that encapsulated the team's lacklustre season so far. On The F1 Show, the 2016 World Champion analysed a series of blunders—from flawed strategy decisions to missed chances—that resulted in Ferrari slipping to third in the Constructors' standings, now trailing a revitalised Mercedes. 'It was a bit of a clumsy weekend from Ferrari," Rosberg stated. 'They had strong pace at times—Charles [LeClerc] was quick in qualifying and kept up with the McLarens during the race—but the tyre strategy was wrong, and they didn't capitalise on the opportunities they had." Rosberg highlighted Ferrari's choice not to attempt a one-stop strategy with LeClerc, even though there was a clear opportunity to try it. Instead, they pitted him early, which put him into traffic and compromised his race. Additionally, the team made a poorly timed pit stop for Lewis Hamilton, costing him valuable track position. LeClerc's troubles began with a crash in FP1 that caused him to miss FP2, and despite showing impressive pace in qualifying, a mistake on his final Q3 lap ended any hopes of a top-three start. Hamilton's race was further affected when his car hit a groundhog on Lap 13, causing damage that impaired his performance. Ferrari ended the race in fifth and sixth positions, while Mercedes achieved a dominant one-three finish, overtaking the Italian team in the standings. This continued a trend for Ferrari: showing speed in moments but failing to deliver consistently over an entire weekend. Regarding the decision not to risk a one-stop with Leclerc, Vasseur conceded that Ferrari missed a relatively low-risk opportunity: 'Charles was right—we didn't have much to lose. But we lacked enough data to be confident the hard tyre would last 50 laps." Vasseur commended Mercedes' turnaround in Montreal, using it as a benchmark: 'They were nowhere for three races and suddenly put two cars on the podium. It's about preparation and execution from Friday morning, and they nailed it. We didn't." With IANS Inputs

Fernando Alonso to be only Aston Martin car in Spanish GP
Barcelona: Aston Martin have confirmed that Lance Stroll will miss the Spanish Grand Prix as the Canadian is scheduled to undergo a medical procedure following pain in his hand and wrist. Stroll took part in Qualifying at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Saturday and finished 14th but the team announced a few hours later that he will sit out the rest of the weekend. A statement released by Aston Martin read, 'Over the course of the past six weeks Lance has been experiencing pain in his hand and wrist, which his medical consultant believes is in relation to the procedure he underwent in 2023. As a result his medical team have confirmed that he will not race tomorrow and he will undergo a procedure to rectify these issues before focusing on his recovery.' Stroll suffered fractures and a broken toe in a cycling accident during the 2023 pre-season, which required surgery and a period of rehabilitation. Despite initial doubts from his medical team about whether he could compete in the early races, he made a successful return for the season opener in Bahrain, finishing an impressive sixth. Ahead of the 2024 season, Stroll revealed that he had adopted a more cautious approach to his training routine. Now in his seventh season with Aston Martin - having joined the team in 2019 when it was still operating as Racing Point - the 26-year-old currently holds 11th place in the Drivers' Championship with 14 points. His results have helped place the British team eighth in the Constructors' standings, while teammate Fernando Alonso, yet to score points this season, is set to start Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix from 10th on the grid. Due to the sporting regulations, Fernando will be their only car competing in the race.

Piastri dominates F1 Bahrain GP
MANAMA: Oscar Piastri delivered a clinical, lights-to-flag victory at the 2025 Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix on Sunday, reinforcing McLaren's status as championship favorites. The 24-year-old Australian led every lap from pole position and crossed the line over 15 seconds ahead of Mercedes' George Russell, claiming his second win in four races so far in 2025. The win also marks his 50th career race in the championship and moves him up to second in the Drivers' Championship, three points behind teammate Lando Norris. Piastri's performance was a masterclass in control and consistency, with the Australian shrugging off the disruption of a mid-race Safety Car caused by a collision between Yuki Tsunoda and Carlos Sainz. "It's a really special feeling to win here," Piastri said post-race. "The car felt great all weekend, and the team absolutely nailed the strategy. I just had to bring it home." McLaren enjoyed a double podium finish, with Lando Norris finishing third after having qualified a disappointing sixth. Despite receiving a five-second time penalty for a jump start, Norris charged through the field with precision and overtook both Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen in the latter stages to secure valuable points. Norris retains the lead in the Drivers' Championship with 77 points, three ahead of his teammate. Russell split the McLarens with a strong drive. The Briton showed steady pace and managed tire degradation better than most of his rivals, continuing his impressive run of form that has kept Mercedes within touching distance of McLaren in the Constructors' standings. Ferrari's Leclerc finished fourth after battling tire issues late in the race, while teammate Lewis Hamilton took fifth following a clean and consistent run from seventh on the grid. The Scuderia pair lacked the outright pace to challenge for the podium but maximized their opportunities on a challenging day for tire management. Last week's winner Max Verstappen endured a frustrating weekend. Struggling with brake issues and two sluggish pit stops, the reigning world champion could only manage sixth - a result that further compounds Red Bull's early-season struggles and fuels speculation over Verstappen's future with the team. Behind the leaders, Pierre Gasly finished seventh with a strong performance for Alpine's first points of 2025, holding off Haas' Esteban Ocon, who delivered an encouraging drive to eighth. Verstappen's teammate Tsunoda was ninth despite his incident with Sainz, while Oliver Bearman made it a double points finish for Haas with a composed run to 10th from last on the grid. With McLaren pulling 58 points clear of Mercedes at the top of the Constructors' standings, all eyes now turn to the high-speed streets of Jeddah for next weekend's Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
