'Eubank Jr should fight Canelo and avoid Benn weight games'
Harlem Eubank would prefer his cousin, Chris Eubank Jr, to chase a legacy-defining fight against Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez rather than revisit his rivalry with Conor unbeaten welterweight says if Eubank Jr does fight Benn again, however, the weight discrepancy between the two Britons must be addressed. Eubank Jr outpointed Benn in a grudge match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in April, more than two years after their original 2022 bout was cancelled due to Benn's failed drug tests.A two-fight deal was in place, but Harlem is unsure whether a rematch will materialise."There's obviously a lot of money there for it, so potentially," he told BBC Sport."But Chris is 35 now and I'd like to see him take the Canelo fight and sail into the sunset."It's hard, because all the big opportunities come near the end of a career and there's always a fishhook dangling to keep you there, but I'd rather see him take the biggest fight in the sport and bow out." However, any potential clash with Mexican superstar Alvarez would likely have to wait until 2026. The undisputed super-middleweight champion will defend his belts against Terence Crawford in 31, also criticised the weight stipulations that surrounded the first fight. Eubank Jr - naturally the bigger man - appeared drained during fight week and was restricted by a rehydration clause which meant neither fighter was allowed to put on more than 10lb from the 11st 6lb limit at the weigh-in. He was fined £375,000 after missing the mark at the first weigh-in by just 0.05lb, before successfully making weight at a second check-in on the morning of the fight."Weight games should never be appropriate in a sport like boxing," Harlem added."People can get hurt, people can be legally damaged. Trying to weaken an opponent with rehydration clauses and these types of things should be eradicated from the sport." Catterall is on a different level to Benn Eubank Jr's victory over Benn settled a feud more than three decades in the making, sparked by their fathers' famous rivalry in the bout came after Benn's two failed drug tests, which led to a lengthy investigation. Benn has always denied intentionally doping and had his suspension lifted in November welterweight Harlem, who stopped Tyrone McKenna in March with his cousin and uncle, Chris Eubank Sr, watching on, will challenge Jack Catterall in Manchester on 5 previously called out Benn himself, Harlem believes former world-title challenger Catterall is on a different level"He [Benn] lost to Jr by a wide margin in an entertaining fight," he said."I gave him props for going the distance and continuing the battle, but in terms of boxing, my next fight is a whole different level."Jack has operated at world level for many years and is leaps and bounds ahead of Conor Benn."

Marcus Rashford hits back at fan who took swipe at him after posting training clip - with the Man United star facing an uncertain future
Marcus Rashford has hit back at an online critic, who took a swipe at him after the Man United forward shared training footage. Rashford, 27, posted a short clip on his Instagram doing cardio work, running and jumping on the pitch as he prepares to hit the ground running in pre-season. He accompanied the clip with the words: 'Feeling better again', alongside a grinning emoji. But one naysayer responded to the reposted clip on X, writing: 'Every pre-season he does these photo shoots but then goes to see boxing matches half way round the world days before important matches! 'Makes no sense if you are feeling good one month before the season starts.' It is unclear which boxing match halfway around the world the poster was referring to but Rashford did attend Conor Benn 's fight with Chris Eubank Jr on UK soil the day Aston Villa lost their FA Cup semi-final against Crystal Palace - a game he was injured for. Rashford saw the comment and replied: 'I'm feeling good because I'm now injury free pal.' It remains to be seen whether Rashford has a future at Man United having been loaned out by Ruben Amorim last January. He found form and confidence again at Aston Villa under Unai Emery and is valued at around £40million. His agent met with Barcelona director Deco in Spain at the end of the season and United want to move the 27-year-old's £315,000-a-week salary off their wage bill. Villa could return for another loan as a transfer may be too steep for PSR parameters but Rashford's preference is understood to be Barcelona if they can stump up the fee. With United already having bolstered their attack with Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo expected to follow, it seems even more unlikely Rashford will be at Old Trafford next term. Earlier this month, Rashford was spotted enjoying some downtime in St Tropez with a 22-year-old influencer known mononymously as Wiktoria.

Chris Eubank Jr Vs Conor Benn Was Influencer Boxing At Best
Chris Eubank Jr Vs Conor Benn Was Influencer Boxing At Best originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Chris Eubank (35-3, 25 KOs) and his archrival Conor Benn met in an electrifying showdown at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in April, with Eubank emerging victorious by unanimous decision. Advertisement Eubank hardly missed the 160lb limit at the weigh-in. Moreover, the rehydration clause meant he could scale no more than 170 lbs on the morning of the bout. 'The first fight was entertaining. But I don't think the rematch will be as big as the first one. If it were a movie. What are we going to see in the sequel? They didn't leave it open-ended. There was no controversy. Did we see anything different? What sort of a fight was it? It was a custom-made fight, wasn't it, because of their dad's history? We've had everything now. I don't see what kind of drama they have left to script anymore. This is more like influencer boxing. And they would be really good influencer boxers,' said George Groves during an interview with The second-generation enmity contest was originally booked to take place in October 2022. However, Conor Benn remains focused on obtaining a rematch with Chris Eubank Jr., with September 27 as the tentative date for a second match. Benn lost a captivating 12-stanza bout to Eubank Jr. when they boxed at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Advertisement Both parties appended their signatures on contracts for a two-fight deal, and consultations are progressing toward tying up the sequel at the scene of their initial encounter. The fight further saw Eubank reunite with his dad. "I pushed through. There are a lot of things that have gone on in my life, and I am happy to have this man [his dad] back with me. We upheld the family name -- onwards and upwards,' said Eubank Jr. in an interview after the fight. This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jun 9, 2025, where it first appeared.

Chris Eubank Sr launches scathing rant as he tears into boxing promoters
The British boxing icon publicly slammed his son's fight with Conor Benn and the 58-year-old has now ripped into boxing promoters amid talks of a rematch Chris Eubank Sr has hit out at boxing promoters and has viciously called for the Boxing Board of Control to 'do what they are supposed to do' in a passionate rant. Ahead of his son's fight with Conor Benn in April, Eubank Sr publicly slammed the event and had real issues with Benn coming up two weight classes for the dust-up. He believed that the 'Destroyer' was putting himself at risk by fighting above his preferred weight. The 58-year-old attempted to do everything he could to persuade his son not to compete in the clash after claiming that Chris Eubank Jr was "killing himself" to make the middleweight limit of 160lbs. Eventually, the fight went ahead as planned - despite Eubank Jr missing weight. 'Next Gen' would go on to defeat Benn on points, however, the biggest talking point on fight night saw Eubank Sr shock the world by turning up to support his son. In a recent video uploaded to his official YouTube channel, Eubank Sr was asked to share his thoughts on the potential rematch despite having to see his son suffer in order to make weight. As well as sharing his thoughts on the potential sequel, Eubank Sr was quick to hit out at the boxing promoters involved in the event. "These promoters do not know what they are talking about. I have heard them talk about... Conor has had to go up in weights, so really he is the one in danger because he is fighting someone who is 160 (lbs). The person who is 160 is really coming down from 175. He was not just weight drained, they put a rehydration clause in. They fined him $500,000 for coming two ounces over the weight. "These rules have been put in place to save my son. To save the lives of fighters. They are dangerous and they are reckless. If the Boxing Board of Control do not do what they are supposed to do, which is to block fights from happening which do not abide by the weights and the rules. You are baboons!" Eubank Sr went on to claim that promoters treat boxers like they are 'meat': "I am not overreacting. I do not overreact," he continued. "But what I am here to do is to protect and they are uneducated against those, what did my son call them? Scum buckets. If that is the term he gave to promoters, he is not wrong. They are treating us like we are meat. They are butchering us. My son is not going to back down from anything. One, money. Two, the heart." The 58-year-old later added that his son is able to make money out of other things amid talks of the second fight taking place later this year. "Jr, you are rich, and you can make money out of other things," he said. "You said it, 'my dad is open and honest. He is not sneaky.' I am being open and honest. I am not being sneaky now. I am telling you of the state you were in. You got away with it. You have taken all the goods.
