James Gunn Says ‘Get Off Matt's Nuts,' ‘The Batman' Sequel Will Happen When It Happens
Cool your jets Batman fans, James Gunn has heard you loud and clear over the highly anticipated sequel to Matt Reeves' The Batman. So much so that he recently expressed his frustration with the demand in defense of the time DC Studios was taking. 'Listen, we're supposed to get a script in June. I hope that happens. We feel really good about it,' Gunn told Entertainment Weekly, and colorfully added, 'People should get off Matt's nuts because it's like, let the guy write the screenplay in the amount of time he needs to write it. That's just the way it is. He doesn't owe you something because you like his movie. I mean, you like his movie because of Matt. So let Matt do things the way he does.' And that should go to Robert Pattinson too, the star who has joked he's going to be old Batman by the time the sequel film gets shooting. It seems folks forget the fact that arc of The Penguin was originally a huge part of the sequel plans which were then pulled and developed into the incredible Colin Farrell starrer series. Getting a whole show in between to dig into that villain origin story was great even if it took place while Bats was maybe spending time with Selina Kyle over in Blüdhaven. 'I am irritated by people,' Gunn added. 'I mean, it's just that thing people don't need to be entitled about. It's going to come out when he feels good about the screenplay. And Matt's not going to give me the screenplay until he feels good about the screenplay.' Gunn also added the constant bugging has nearly pushed him off the internet. 'I've kind of quit because it just happens so often,' he noted. 'There are a couple of people, specifically, who have pretty large followings who just consistently put out false stories, just one after the other after the other, 95% of the time. Maybe once out of every 20 times, they say something that has some slight or partial basis in reality. And it gets to be old. I'm not sure, some of those people, that I'm not actually helping them in a certain way by debunking them, because you're giving them traffic, which I always do, but I think they like it. So I mostly quit.'

James Gunn Says SGT. ROCK Is Still Marching Forward and Teases Secret Project Project He Feared Would Be Ripped Off — GeekTyrant
Despite reports that Sgt. Rock had been shelved, James Gunn is here to clarify that Easy Company isn't done just yet. In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, the DC Studios co-head gave an encouraging, though cautious, update on the war-themed project, originally set to be directed by Luca Guadagnino with Colin Farrell attached to star. 'I feel like we're in a pretty good place. We're still moving forward, but it's not going to would Peter want me to say here? ... So it's still moving forward, but, yeah, right now it wasn't exactly where I wanted it to be creatively, and so it needs to change a little bit.' So while the original vision may not survive the reshuffle, Gunn makes it clear that Sgt. Rock hasn't been left for dead. That wasn't all Gunn had to say. When asked if there were other projects cooking behind the scenes, he teased something far more mysterious, something he's been keeping under wraps since the very beginning out of fear another studio (cough Marvel) might try to swipe the concept. 'My favorite thing has not been announced at all. One of the scripts people kind of know about. My script people don't know about. The other script people don't know about. 'So it's mostly stuff people don't know about.... A couple of those things [announced in January 2023] are in pretty good shape in terms of coming up, but there was one thing that I knew about from the very beginning, that when I pitched to David Zaslav what the DCU would be, I pitched to him, but we did not announce in that first meeting because I felt like it was too easy to rip off by another company. And so that's one of the main things.' That's the kind of statement that's going to fire up speculation across the fandom. A brand-new idea, so potent and original that it had to be kept hidden? Sounds like the kind of curveball that could define Gunn's DCU if it delivers. For now, we're left to wait and wonder. But between the resurrection of Sgt. Rock and the tease of a secret weapon still under wraps, Gunn's DC universe is clearly still evolving.

Netflix Sets Three-Part Holiday Release for ‘Stranger Things 5'
It has been three long years since fans last turned Upside Down with new episodes of 'Stranger Things,' but during Tudum 2025: The Live Event, Netflix has finally revealed the fifth and final season will drop in two parts, with Vol. 1 releasing on Wednesday, November 26 and Vol. 2 hitting the streamer on Christmas Day. The series finale will debut on New Year's Eve. Star Finn Wolfhard told IndieWire in April that while he could not tease much 'without them killing me,' wrapping production was 'bittersweet.' More from IndieWire 'The Penguin' Required as Much from Colin Farrell and Mike Marino as Gene Kelly Put Into 'Singin' in the Rain' Colin Farrell and Mike Marino Rocked Out Together While Making 'The Penguin' 'It was super emotional, but we're all unbelievably happy with the finished product,' Wolfhard said. 'We just can't believe it's over, but we can't wait until people see it.' In January at Next on Netflix, the Duffer Brothers previewed footage from the finale season, with Ross Duffer calling it the 'biggest and most ambitious' yet. 'It's like eight blockbuster movies,' he added. Season 4 villain Vecna's portrayer Jamie Campbell Bower teased in an interview on iHeart Radio's 'I've Never Said This Before With Tommy DiDario' that the latest outing is 'bigger' and 'completely insane.' 'If you thought last season was nuts, this season is just out of control, wild, like, it's bonkers. It really, really is,' Bowers said. 'At the same time, we think it's our most personal story,' Matt Duffer said in January. 'It was super intense and emotional to film — for us and for our actors.' Like Wolfhard, Matt, too, characterized the last lap as emotional. 'There was so much crying. The show means so much to all of us, and everyone put their hearts and souls into it. And we hope — and believe — that passion will translate to the screen,' Matt said. Information regarding the fifth season has been trickling out with a steady drip, drip, drip since the Season 4 finale in July 2022. The episode titles were even revealed all the way back in November. Those titles are: 'The Crawl,' 'The Vanishing Of…,' 'The Turnbow Trap,' 'Sorcerer,' 'Shock Jock,' 'Escape from Camazotz,' 'The Bridge,' and the series finale of 'The Rightside Up.' Vol. 1 of 'Stranger Things 5' debuts on Friday, November 26, with Vol. 2 streaming on Christmas Day and the series finale streaming on New Year's Eve. Eilis O'Hanlon: ‘By the ad break, it was time for some guff about St Patrick. It was here that viewers' worst suspicions were about to be confirmed'
First it was Brendan Gleeson. Now his In Bruges co-star Colin Farrell seems to be following the same path to gain national treasure status, as he goes from playing ex-cons and hitmen to providing voiceover duties for From that Small Island (RTÉ One, Sunday, 6.20pm). But oh dear, what did the makers of this new series covering 8,000 years of Irish history slip into his tea in the recording studio to make him sound so lethargic?
