Minchinhampton golfer's career-high world ranking after impressive tournament

A MINCHINHAMPTON based golfer's performance has earned him a career-high world ranking. Jack Cope finished tied second in the Clutch Pro Tour Tier 1 event held at Clandon Regis, and his performance has secured him third place in the Order of Merit. His result has now boosted his world ranking to 949th, the highest position he has held. In just three months, since the beginning of the 2025 season, Cope has moved up 615 places in the rankings. His performance throughout the competition was consistent and impressive. While his opening round was steady, it was his six-under-par second round that really put him in the running. His final round was characterised by crucial birdies and an eagle, securing his tied second finish. Cope's performance in the Tier 1 Clutch Pro Tour event, which offers significant world ranking points and exposure, has boosted his chances of progressing to the Hotel Planner Tour (previously the Challenge Tour). The tournament marks another milestone in Al Mouj Golf's growing legacy of welcoming high-calibre international competitions and underscores Oman's rise as a host nation for elite sporting events. Recognised as a premier feeder tour to the European Challenge Tour and DP World Tour, the Clutch Pro Tour serves as a launchpad for rising golf talent, attracting both emerging players and experienced professionals seeking world ranking points and competitive experience. Its debut at Al Mouj Golf brought together a diverse field of 130 exciting professional golfers from more than 20 countries, further reinforcing Oman's status as a strategic sporting hub in the region. Over three days of competition, spectators were treated to an exciting display of golfing talent and a finale that came down to the wire. Callum Farr of England emerged as the champion in a truly clutch performance under pressure. Carding rounds of 68, 68, and 69, Farr finished 11-under-par to secure his second Clutch Pro Tour title of the season, edging out a strong international field by a single stroke. James Ashfield of Wales claimed second place, while Reis Suart and Egor Eroshenko tied for third, each delivering standout performances that kept the leaderboard tight until the final putt. England's Callum Farr wins Clutch Pro Tour's Al Ain Championship

Callum Farr (Eng) shot rounds of 67, 67 and 64, for a 12 under par total of 198, to win the Clutch Pro Tour's Al Ain Championship held at Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club, Abu Dhabi. The 54-hole tournament locally sanctioned by the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF), saw an oversubscribed field of 154 players competing – both males and females with plenty of UAE players competing alongside the best of the Clutch Tour – their first tournament of the 2025 season. Farr, representing Trinifold Sports, started the final round in the fifth from last group. He played the first nine of his last round in 32 shots with three birdies. Further birdies on holes 11, 15 and 16 saw him home in another 32 for a 64 and a 12 under par week and a one-shot victory from both Haider Hussain (The Kendleshire) and Jack Cope (Eng). On the local scene the leading score came from Sana Tufail (Am, Yas Links Abu Dhabi) who took the Ladies Divisional Award in tied 36th on three under par and Thomas Buchard (Am, The Els Club) was the leading local male UAE player on two under par in tied 42nd. Shane Peacock, Director of Golf, Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting & Golf Club, said after the final round, 'We have a tremendous three days of golf at the highest standard. To have three players break 200 over three days is excellent golf anywhere. It is rewarding to see some home-grown UAE talent holding their own against the champions of the future. 'Congratulations to all the winners and high performers for their scores etc. All the players must be very proud of their results. We will certainly be watching all the players who competed this week in Al Ain – many of them will probably go to the highest levels of world golf – perhaps even sooner than we think to the most elite Tours in the game, around the world.' Farr immediately goes to the top of the Clutch Pro Tour Rankings with 440 points, with Hussain and Cope tied for second with 247.50 points. The tournament boasted a prize fund of £50,000 (approx AED 237,988.95) Farr won a first prize cheque of £8,000 (approx AED 30,000), and an invite to return to Al Ain next month to play in the HotelPlanner Tour event (formerly named the Challenge Tour). Jack Cope of England fired consecutive rounds of 65 for a 36-hole total of 130 (10-under-par) to lead the Clutch Pro Tour's Al Ain Championship at Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting & Golf Club, Abu Dhabi. The 54-hole tournament, locally sanctioned by the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF), features a strong, oversubscribed field of 154 players—both male and female—including several UAE-based golfers competing against the best of the Clutch Pro Tour in their first event of the 2025 season. Starting his second round from the 1st tee, Cope carded an outward nine of 31, including four birdies. A bogey on the 10th was quickly offset by back-to-back birdies on the 11th and 12th, securing his second consecutive 65. He holds a two-shot lead heading into the final round. The cut fell at five-over-par, with 95 players advancing at four-over or better. Four players shot an opening round of six under par 64 to lead the Clutch Pro Tour's GB Pounds 50,000 UAE Championship, held at Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting & Golf Club, Abu Dhabi. UAE. Round one was suspended due to darkness with all players unable to complete their first rounds. Play will resume at 6.40 am for the players to complete their first rounds with the round two tee times remaining as originally published. Jack Yule (Eng), Sam Hessian (Eng), George Mason (Eng) and Mark Power (Ire) are at the top of the leaderboard as the tournament stands. The most attractive card of the day was handed in by Mason, representing Wath Golf Club, who started on tee 10 and went out in 30, five under par. Mason had five birdies without reply in his opening nine holes and secured three birdie twos on holes 13, 15 and 17 – to set up his impressive round. A bogey on hole 1, his 10 th hole was the only blemish to his card – with further birdies on holes 5 and 6 to hand in the joint best round of the day. Yule, representing Kings Lynn Golf Club, starting on hole 10, had just one bogey on his card, the second hold on the card – his 11 th . Hessian, representing Sunningdale Golf Club, and Power, representing Mount Juliet Golf Club, both had clean cards of six pars and no bogeys. On a day of strong scoring, 53 players beat the strict par of 70.
