Boss Of ‘Lupin' Maker Gaumont TV France On Netflix's Response To Streaming Law: 'They Did Everything To Avoid It, But They Respect It'

Netflix should be commended for respecting France's extensive streaming regulation, the President of Lupin producer Gaumont Television France said today at Conecta Fiction. During an on-stage interview, Degeorges gave an appraisal of how the regulations had changed the market, and said that Netflix's response had been a mature one. The streamer and others had done 'everything they could to avoid it, but they respected it.' Global streamers openly disagree with levies and quotas, and are taking legal action in countries such as Belgium to block new local laws, but Degeorges said Netflix, in particular, had played by the rules in France. 'If France, we were very lucky because we live in a country where regulation is everywhere. We love regulation,' she said to chuckles in the room here in Cuenca. 'Netflix, in my experience, has respected the law. Even if they don't agree, they respect the law.' Degeorges was one of several leading producers who led the fight for streaming regulation via trade body USPA, of which she is Vice President. 'When Netflix arrived in 2015, we all saw it was not normal as the American streamers had no investment obligations,' she said. 'All the channels have obligations. We had to fight to create the new regulation, in which streamers would share IP with us. Now the regulation is great and everything works.' Gaumont is known for producing Netflix's thriller series Lupin, which premiered in January 2021, before the rules were in place. 'With Lupin I don't own the IP,' she said. 'If we did it now maybe I would, but I don't.' Season 4 of Lupin, which stars Omar Sy as master thief Assane Diop, is currently in production. Gaumont makes the show alongside Carrousel Studios, and Degeorges is an exec producer. David Fincher's ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD Netflix Sequel Adds Elizabeth Debicki and Scott Caan — GeekTyrant

Elizabeth Debicki ( Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 , The Crown ) and Scott Caan ( Ocean's 11 ) have joined the cast of David Fincher's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood follow-up at Netflix. The pair will star alongside Brad Pitt, who is reprising his Oscar-winning role as the zen stuntman Cliff Booth for the feature, which comes from a script written by the original film's writer-director Quentin Tarantino. The sequel still seems somewhat unreal to many fans of Tarantino and Fincher, but with the addition of more cast members, the project seems to be gaining steam as it heads towards a potential summer production start in California. The synopsis of the film remains shrouded in mystery, but the film, which is currently being called The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth , is currently in pre-production. It was previously revealed that this next chapter is shaping up to be a unique continuation and it was explained: "This probably should not be thought of as a sequel. This should be thought of more of a follow-up that's connected to but not the same as — the example that was cited to me was, think about how A Big Sleep , the Raymond Chandler adaptation starring Humphrey Bogart, is in the same world as Farewell, My Lovely , the 1975 Robert Mitchum movie, but it's [a] different actor, different directors, different time in the storyline. They are different, they are not really sequels, they are the further adventures of [Cliff]." It was also said: 'The movie takes place in 1977, which is roughly eight years after Once Upon a Time in Hollywood , so a different time in Cliff's life." Stay tuned for updates as it moves forward.

'So we offer several additional features to support language learning, including the ability to customize subtitles, and the Browse by Language feature on PC computers. These helpful features enhance the accessibility of our shows and movies, while supporting those set on being multilingual. Brad Pitt reportedly back as Cliff Booth in new 'Hollywood' project from David Fincher, Quentin Tarantino

In some of the more stunning film news in years, Brad Pitt is reportedly set to reprise his Oscar-winning role of stuntman Cliff Booth in a follow-up to Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood. The Playlist first reported the seismic news, later confirmed by outlets like Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, that none other than David Fincher (The Social Network, Fight Club) will direct a script by Tarantino of the story's continuation. "From what I understand, this is the screenplay that Tarantino's The Movie Critic evolved into when the writer/director couldn't put the pen down and kept exploring the adventures of Cliff Booth," The Playlist's Rodrigo Perez wrote in his breaking story. THR's Borys Kit added that: "According to one source, Pitt was taken by certain aspects of script, which never seemed to stop evolving, as well as his character's part in it. He asked the filmmaker whether he would consider letting someone else direct the untitled project. Tarantino replied, and we paraphrase here, 'Depends on who.' An indeterminate time later, Pitt returned with Fincher in tow." Netflix is reportedly the home of the new project, which could reportedly go in front of cameras as soon as this summer. It's reportedly unknown if Leonardo DiCaprio will reprise his role of Hollywood actor Rick Dalton in the new film, even it's just for a small appearance.
