Former Clemson, South Carolina player in transfer portal commits to third different team Former Clemson Tigers infielder Nolan Nawrocki is set to make it three different college baseball programs in as many seasons. Nawrocki, primarily the Tigers' third baseman in 2024 who transferred to rival South Carolina after that season and then entered the portal again this summer, announced his latest transfer destination on Wednesday. Nawrocki will play for the Tulane Green Wave and coach Jay Uhlman, he said in a post to social media. Nawrocki committed to Clemson in 2022 and redshirted with the Tigers in 2023 before splitting time between third base and DH in 2024. Nawrocki batted .264 for the Tigers with four home runs and 24 RBIs in 36 games. With South Carolina and coach Paul Mainieri this past season, Nawrocki appeared in 14 games and hit .200 (8-for-40) with one home run and seven RBIs. The Gamecocks finished 6-24 in SEC play, placing ahead of only 3-27 Missouri in the conference standings. Nawrocki was involved in a rather intense moment this season when Clemson and South Carolina met to open the annual Palmetto State series on Feb. 28 at Doug Kingsmore Stadium, receiving a memorable stare-down from Tigers starter Aidan Knaak after striking out to end the top of the first. Clemson won the game, 5-3, and swept the Gamecocks for the second straight season. The Tigers finished 45-18 overall this past season, falling to West Virginia and Kentucky at the Clemson Regional of the NCAA Tournament. Clemson outfielder Cam Cannarella gets new 2025 MLB draft projection The 2025 MLB Draft is set for July 13-14 during All-Star Week festivities in Atlanta, and Clemson baseball has its own star hoping to hear his name called on day one. That player, of course, is outfielder Cam Cannarella, who put together a terrific season as a junior. Cannarella hit .353 overall with five home runs and 22 doubles, posting an on-base percentage of .479 in 61 games. He closed the year with a 22-game hitting streak and went 8-for-14 in the Clemson Regional of the NCAA Tournament, finishing with two home runs and two doubles in his final college showcase. Over the weekend, veteran baseball analyst Jim Callis of published his updated 2025 MLB mock draft. Callis has Cannarella going to the New York Mets with the No. 38 overall selection as a supplemental first-round pick. A recent mock draft last week by USA TODAY Sports had Cannarella going slightly higher at No. 30 overall to the Baltimore Orioles. In three years at Clemson for coach Erik Bakich, Cannarella batted .360 with 23 home runs, 54 doubles and a combined 1.004 OPS. In the field, he made a memorable Willie Mays-styled catch in the 2023 Clemson Super Regional in front of a national audience watching on ESPN. Clemson has had 20 players taken in the first round of an MLB draft dating back to 1968. Infielder Logan Davidson was the last Tigers player selected in the first round and was the No. 29 overall by the Athletics in 2019. The first round of the 2025 MLB draft will be televised on ESPN, with subsequent rounds broadcast and streamed on MLB Network. The draft will feature 20 rounds over two days. Clemson baseball adds West Coast slugger in latest transfer portal tear Clemson baseball continued on its heater in the transfer portal late Thursday. The Tigers and coach Erik Bakich picked up a commitment from Nate Savoie, an outfielder coming off his freshman season at Loyola Marymount in the West Coast Conference. Savoie announced his commitment to Clemson in a post to social media. The right-handed hitter from Newport Beach, Calif., had 20 home runs, 14 doubles and 61 RBIs while batting .300 and posting a 1.059 OPS for the Lions in 53 games (51 starts) this past season. Savoie collected a season-high four hits against Gonzaga on May 3, a game in which he homered and doubled. Before committing to Loyola Marymount, he starred at Orange Lutheran High School in California where he played catcher, outfield and infield. Savoie is the latest power bat to join Clemson in the transfer portal following the commitment of former Western Kentucky slugger Ryan Wideman. An All-American outfielder last season, Wideman hit .398 with 10 home runs and 36 extra base hits while playing in all 60 games. He stole 45 bases as a top-of-the-order threat who played centerfield. Clemson has now added seven players via the transfer portal since falling 16-4 to Kentucky in the NCAA Tournament's Clemson Regional. In addition to Savoie and Wideman, the Tigers have picked up outfielder Ty Dalley (Mercer), infielders Bryce Clavon (Georgia) and Tyler Lichtenberger (Appalachian State), and pitchers Hayden Simmerson (Catawba College) and Ariston Veasey (Alabama) in the portal. Clemson has seen five players from its 2025 roster enter in the portal, the latest of which is left-hander B.J. Bailey. LSU baseball erupts for 16 runs to beat WVU in Game 1 of super regional After surviving the Baton Rouge Regional, LSU baseball welcomed West Virginia for the Baton Rouge Super Regional. Needing two wins to punch a ticket to Omaha, LSU scored 16 runs to take down the Mountaineers in game one 16-9. Kade Anderson got the start for LSU in Game 1. After both teams worked a scoreless first inning, West Virginia got on the board in the top of the second after a single caromed off Anderson's arm on the mound. Kade would stay in the game and finish the inning as we headed to the bottom of the second with LSU trailing 1-0. Both pitchers got in a rhythm, and the bats went quiet until the bottom of the fourth inning. After Luis Hernandez and Daniel Dickinson were hit by a pitch, Derek Curiel hit a three-run homer to give the Tigers their first lead of the ballgame at 3-1. In the bottom of the fifth inning, LSU broke the game wide open as the Tigers scored seven runs. Stephen Milam hit a grand slam, Curiel hit an RBI single, and Chris Stanfield hit a two-RBI single to increase the Tigers' lead to 10-1! When you give a pitcher like Anderson a 10-1 lead entering the sixth inning, you feel pretty good about your odds. If you have not been keeping up with this West Virginia team, you would not know that they went 3-0 in the Clemson Regional, but they had to come from behind to win all of those games. In the top of the sixth inning, West Virginia cut into the LSU lead as they plated four runs against Anderson to cut the lead to 10-5. Just like that, the Mountaineers were right back in the game. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Jared Jones led off the inning with a double, Milam walked, Hernandez reached on a fielder's choice, and Dickinson got hit by a pitch to load the bases with one out. Curiel and Ashton Larson would walk to score two more runs to increase the lead to 12-5. Josh Pearson stepped into the batter's box and he would hit ANOTHER grand slam to make it 16-5 Tigers! In the top of the seventh inning, West Virginia hit a two-run homer with two outs to cut the lead to 16-7. Anderson's day was finished after seven innings of work. He gave up seven runs on nine hits, seven strikeouts, and two walks. The seven runs he gave up today were the most runs he has given up in a single game all season. DJ Primeaux entered to pitch for the Tigers. After getting one out, Primeaux was pulled from the game, and William Schmidt entered. Schmidt gave up a two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning to cut the lead to 16-9. Mavrick Rizy then entered to pitch. Rizy got the final three outs, and LSU won game one! With the win, LSU is now one win away from advancing to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. Game Two will be played Sunday at 6 PM.

Clemson baseball lands promising transfer from SEC program For the second time this week, the Clemson Tigers have added a player from an SEC baseball roster via the transfer portal. Infielder Bryce Clavon, who transfers after one season with the Georgia Bulldogs, announced his commitment to Clemson in a post to social media Saturday. Clavon was a freshman for coach Wes Johnson's team in 2025, appearing in 27 games and making one start. He joins former Alabama Crimson Tide pitcher Ariston Veasey as SEC players to transfer to Clemson this week. A right-handed hitter who's listed as 6-feet, 187 pounds, Clavon committed to Georgia after graduating from Kell High School in Stockbridge (Ga.). Perfect Game ranked him the No. 4 overall shortstop in the nation coming out of high school. Clavon was 5-for-15 with a home run, a double and a triple last season. He was also 2-of-2 on stolen base attempts. Clavon played behind starting shortstop Kolby Branch and did not appear in the game when Clemson and Georgia met as top five opponents on April 22 at Doug Kingsmore Stadium, a 3-0 Tigers shutout victory. Clavon is the Tigers' second commitment in the transfer portal Saturday. Earlier in the day, shortstop Tyler Lichtenberger committed to Clemson from Appalachian State. Lichtenberger was the Sun Belt conference Freshman of the Year in 2025, batting .341 with 13 doubles, three home runs and 44 RBIs. Clemson has added four players via the transfer portal since their season-ending loss to Kentucky in the Clemson Regional last Sunday. In addition to Clavon, Lichtenberger and Veasey, the Tigers also added right-hander Hayden Simmerson from Division II Catawba College in North Carolina.
