Aaron Rodgers and DK Metcalf could have trouble in paradise before the end of the 2025 season — at least that's what former NFL defensive end Chris Long believes. Long, a two-time Super Bowl champion, recently appeared on The Rich Eisen Show and brought up Rodgers' infamous red line drama when discussing his pairing with Metcalf: Advertisement 'When he was in New York — and I'm not taking a shot, but I don't love seeing stuff that should be worked out in the locker room, worked out on podcast,' Long said. 'Metcalf has not always been the most surgical route runner. You talk about if we end up in a situation where somebody's not on the right side of the 'red line', famously, infamously, I could see some stuff like that happening — and the growing pains being tough.' The situation that has Long worried stems back in Week 6 of the 2024 season, when then-Jets QB Rodgers criticized WR Mike Williams for running the wrong route — as he should've ran the 'red line.' Rodgers and Metcalf have been bonding heavily throughout the offseason so far — hopefully enough to prevent Long's worrisome prediction from coming to fruition. That's why it's hard to imagine a time before his retirement when Watt isn't a member of the Steelers roster. But here we are. Watt will enter the final season of his four-year, $112.011 million deal in 2025, and extension talks have reportedly not gone well when they've happened at all. A former player thinks that it's a travesty that an "iconic player" like Watt might not finish his career with the Steelers. "T.J. Watt's supposed to retire a Steeler," Chris Long said on 'The Rich Eisen Show'. "He's just one of those iconic players that, to me, and this is just a 'Joe Fan' take, that No. 90 right there in black and yellow, to me, that's how he's supposed to come in and that's how he's supposed to go out. It would be a real shame if he wasn't able to go out as a Steeler because he didn't get paid what he deserved to be paid." Advertisement Watt will turn 31 in mid-October, and it's possible Pittsburgh is leery of paying someone that age $40-plus million per season, which is what someone with Watt's numbers demands. Since joining the league in 2017, he's averaging 15.2 sacks per season, 65 tackles with 32 for loss and 32 QB hits. All averages. Per season. Wow. Long doesn't see Watt's age as an issue, but of course, he's not the one writing the checks in Pittsburgh. "I think at this level, nowadays guys in their 30s can really rush into their mid-30s because the game's a little bit easier on the body, and people are taking care of the players," he said. "The newer CBAs don't demand as much on the body, and if you know what you're doing late in your career, you can survive that way." Mother says Southport project a thank you to ‘community that saved us'
The mother of one of three young girls murdered in Southport hopes a renovation project in the town will serve as a thank you to the 'community that saved us'. Jenni Stancombe, the mother of Elsie Dot Stancombe who was killed alongside Alice da Silva Aguiar and Bebe King, was speaking after the Government pledged £5 million for the work at Town Hall gardens. The work will also be funded by £2.5 million each from Sefton Council and the Liverpool City Region, bringing the total investment to £10 million. She told the BBC: 'We hope for Southport, us enabling this will help us to say thank you. Thank you to a community that stood by our side. Thank you to a community that wants to continue our legacy for our girls. Thank you to a community that saved us. 'And we hope we can create a beautiful space that the community can be absolutely part of building with us that will become renowned for how we've reacted to the events of last year.' Sefton Council said the regeneration will create a family-friendly and child-oriented space that will also host open-air performances. The families of the young girls said the project is 'a vision we have all shared for some time, which is rooted in love, resilience and unity'. Plans for the project have been drawn up by Elsie's uncle Chris Long, who said the gardens had become the focal point for the town's grief after the murders in July last year. 'The first point was to see if we could create a town square to enable people to interact and for children to be able to go there and feel safe,' he said. 'There's an element of memorial but it's a regeneration project for Southport and it's to reflect the community in Southport that has come together in solidarity.' Sir Keir Starmer thanked the families for their 'continuing courage and resilience' during a meeting with him and Angela Rayner at Number 10 on Tuesday afternoon. 'We sit here as Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, we sit here as human beings with families of our own, and we sit here on behalf of millions of people who would love to see the plans and to say well done for bringing them forward and getting to this point,' he said. He also told them Ms Rayner will 'personally oversee' the implementation of the project. Elsie, Bebe and Alice were murdered by Axel Rudakubana at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport . He was jailed for a minimum of 52 years in January.

Ysgol Gwynedd in Flint and Prestatyn High School will represent Wales at the UK NFL Flag 2025 National Championships in Leeds on Tuesday, June 17. The schools secured their places by winning their age categories at the Welsh NFL Flag National Championships, held on May 6 at Cardiff Metropolitan High School one the 15U Girls' tournament (Image: NFL) Ysgol Gwynedd triumphed in the 11U Mixed division, while Prestatyn High School won the 15U Girls' tournament. Dr Chris Long, NFL head of youth football and grassroots development, said: "Thank you to all the schools from across Wales who have competed in this year's championship, and its preceding qualifiers. "We are so pleased to see more and more people of all ages playing NFL Flag, some coming back year after year and developing their game, some getting their first taste of American football. "We look forward to welcoming all our champion teams in Leeds later this month." A record 480 schools entered this year's UK competition, with 28 teams now set to compete for national Flag Wales National Championships at Cardiff Metropolitan University (Image: NFL) Among them are Mary Immaculate High School, who took the 13U Mixed title alongside Ysgol Gwynedd and Prestatyn High School as Wales' three national champions. NFL Flag is the league's official non-contact football programme and has rapidly gained popularity in the UK since launching in 2017. More than 120,000 people now play across 1,000 schools. Flag football is set to debut at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. It is played by more than 20 million people in over 100 countries. The sport is non-contact, fast-paced, and emphasises inclusivity—making it accessible to players of all ages and abilities. Female participation is especially strong, with the 15U Girls category among the fastest-growing divisions. The International Federation of American Football and the NFL continue to invest in the sport's development from grassroots to elite levels. The format's growing popularity reflects a global rise in interest, driven by its simplicity and emphasis on teamwork, strategy, and athleticism.
