KUALA LUMPUR: Chery has launched the second stop of its global Chery Safety Challenge campaign in Indonesia, focusing on battery safety in extreme humidity. The Chinese carmaker said the challenge marks a significant milestone in its commitment to rigorous real-world testing, following a series of extreme safety tests conducted in China. This includes spiral rollovers, dual-vehicle collisions and a seven-vehicle vertical stack challenge. "The Tiggo 8 Pro CSH, Chery's flagship plug-in hybrid SUV, will take on this challenge, underlining the battery system's reliability in Indonesia's tropical, rain-soaked environment. "The same vehicle model (Tiggo 8 Pro CSH) had endured a 48-hour seven-car stack stress test in Wuhu, China reflecting Chery's rigorous safety benchmarks," it added. Chery said the spotlight now turns to Indonesia's high-humidity tropical climate, where Chery will demonstrate the resilience and safety of its battery system in a highly challenging environmental condition. The safety test in Indonesia is part of Chery's global 'In Somewhere, For Somewhere' strategy, reflecting a deep commitment to market-specific product adaptation.
