Explosive detail that could tie Costa Del Sol assassination to Daniel clan amid fears of deadly reprisals on streets

A CAPTURED phone holds the key to proving the assassination in Spain of two Scots crime figures is linked to their Daniel gang rivals, sources claim. Cops seized the mobile device from an alleged hitman suspected of shooting dead Ross Monaghan, 43, and Eddie Lyons Jnr, 46, in a Costa del Sol boozer. 8 Ross Monaghan was shot dead seconds after pal Eddie Lyons Jnr on May 31. Insiders say it contains data allegedly linking Michael Riley, 44, to hoods who Spanish detectives reckon are behind the double murder plot. We told how Monaghan and Lyons were gunned down after watching the Champions League Final on TV at Monaghan's Irish Bar in Fuengirola. Now crime-fighters are at odds over who ordered the hit — with Scots detectives insisting there is 'no intelligence' linking the slayings to the gangland turf war here despite Spanish cops' claims. Riley faces an extradition hearing in London today which could see him sent to Spain to face allegations he was involved in the double murder. Monaghan's grieving family insisted their Glasgow enemies were not to blame for the hit. It is now believed they may have got this info from cops in Scotland who were unaware of the phone recovered when Riley was arrest on an international warrant in Liverpool last Friday. A source said: 'A phone in a crime like this will be gold-dust to investigators. 'It's said to contain info linking the murders back to Scotland - and to the wider Daniel crime organisation. 'It appears Police Scotland weren't made aware of this discovery and are out the loop. It's not a good look for them. 'That's why there's this bizarre situation where cops here are saying it's not linked to the Daniels and Lyons war - but police in Spain are adamant it is.' Horror moment Scots gangster Ross Monaghan is shot dead by hitman at Spanish pub as staff & punters flee in terror A relative of murdered Monaghan previously said: 'The one thing people need to know is the Daniels are not behind this.' And Police Scotland this week again insisted the clan had no link to the slayings. Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Houston said: 'We're not aware of any current evidence which suggests the deaths of these two men are linked to the recent criminal attacks in Scotland being investigated as part of Operation Portaledge.' But that was contradicted by cops in Malaga who alleged on Thursday that the suspect was a 'member of the Daniel gang'. 8 CCTV footage of the incident was broadcast on Spanish TV 8 Associates of Mark Richardson, above, have been targeted by underworld rivals Credit: The Scottish Sun 8 Steven 'Bonzo' Daniel and family members have been targeted by gang thugs Credit: Spindrift 8 Former Union Bear Ross 'Miami' McGill is said to have ordered a wave of attacks Associates of the Daniels and caged cocaine boss Mark Richardson have been targeted by hoods run by Dubai-based hood Ross 'Miami' McGill, 31. He blames Richardson lackeys for conning him by using fake notes in a £500,000 cocaine deal. An underworld source backed the Spanish police conclusions over who was behind the Monaghan's Bar massacre. And he warned the bloodshed is certain to continue as Scotland's warring gangs seek payback. The carnage began in March amid claims Dubai-based hood Ross 'Miami' McGill, 31, sought revenge after blaming Richardson associates for using fake notes in a dodgy £500,000 cocaine deal. Our insider said: 'This war is going to get worse because everyone is convinced the Daniel mob sent the Liverpudlian hitman. 'He's an associate linked to a mob who have supplied Daniels and Mark Richardson with drugs and armaments. 'The Daniels have worked with Liverpool for years. The Lyons and their Irish Kinahan associates are reeling from this.' 'It's only a matter of time before there is more bloodshed.' The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service said: 'We will offer support to Police Scotland and provide any guidance that may be required.'

Inzaghi on Al-Hilal move and Inter exit: ‘No other team I wanted to coach'

Inzaghi on Al-Hilal move and Inter exit: 'No other team I wanted to coach' Simone Inzaghi wanted to step out of his 'comfort zone' at Inter, so he picked Al-Hilal: 'There was no other team I wanted to coach.' The Italian tactician held a press conference ahead of his Al-Hilal debut in the Club World Cup against Xabi Alonso's Real Madrid. Inzaghi explains Inter exit Simone Inzaghi is the new coach of Al-Hilal (@AlHilal_FC) 'I accepted the challenge and stepped out of my comfort zone after several years at Inter,' Inzaghi said via Gazzetta. Advertisement 'I want to change my way of thinking, my style of play and try new things. There was no other team I wanted to coach, so I chose Al-Hilal.' Inzaghi left Inter after the team lost the Champions League Final 5-0 to PSG. Inzaghi's controversial Inter exit epa12147931 Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi takes off his jacket during the UEFA Champions League final between Paris Saint-Germain and Internazionale Milano in Munich, Germany 31 May 2025. EPA-EFE/FRIEDEMANN VOGEL The Al-Hilal CEO recently claimed Inzaghi and the Saudi side had reached an agreement before the Final on May 31, sparking Inter's irritation. Inter President Beppe Marotta refused to comment by saying that the only thing that matters is that the Nerazzurri have now begun a new era under Cristian Chivu. Inter made my 2025 Club World Cup debut against Monterrey last night, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Inzaghi won six trophies during his time at Inter: one Scudetto, two Coppa Italia and three Supercoppa Italiana. The 49-year-old has signed a two-year deal with Al-Hilal.

The last time we saw Inter Milan, it was walking off the pitch at the Allianz Arena in Munich after an embarrassing 5-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League Final. It marked the second time in three years that this veteran-laden roster was on the losing side of the most important match of the European Soccer season. A little more than two weeks later, Inter heads to the Rose Bowl for its opening match of the FIFA Club World Cup against Monterrey. Inter is a -220 favorite to win Tuesday's match. Inter vs. Monterrey betting preview There's a massive talent gap between Inter Milan and Monterrey. Inter finished one point behind first-place Napoli in Serie A, was runner-up in the Champions League and made it to the semi-finals in the Coppa Italia. La Beneamata finished their domestic campaign with the fifth-best goal difference in Europe's Big 5 Leagues, and they were eighth in expected goal differential. By all accounts, Inter was one of the 10 best clubs in the world this past season. In a vacuum, you'd say this all points to a straightforward win for Inter on Tuesday against Monterrey, one of the top clubs in Liga MX. Monterrey doesn't have the depth that Inter boasts, but there are plenty of familiar names on this roster, most notably former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos, former Sevilla winger Lucas Ocampos, longtime Mexican internationals Hector Moreno and Jesus Corona and former Real Betis midfielder Sergio Canales. Inter's Federico Dimarco during the Champions League Final. AP Inter vs. Monterrey pick We've seen some terrific performances from the heavyweights in this competition out of the gates, but it's still fair to be skeptical of where Inter's level will be after a grueling European campaign was capped off in a demoralizing loss in Munich. Inter is a team that really leans into the physical side of the game, but if its not fully up for this tournament – or are just fatigued – it loses that edge. Monterrey could get played off the park in this one, but we'll take a shot at a big price and hope that Inter isn't firing Tuesday night in Los Angeles. Al-Hilal confirm Inzaghi ‘decided' Inter exit before Final defeat

The CEO of Al-Hilal confirms that Simone Inzaghi had 'decided, but not signed' his contract before the Champions League Final, so already knew he was leaving Inter. The coach had tried to paint it as a choice that wasn't made until after the 5-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, which meant that Inter ended the campaign empty-handed for the only time in his four-year tenure. Advertisement However, chief executive Esteve Calzada told BBC Sport that this was a diplomatic way to discuss a premeditated exit. 'It might look like it's something that came quickly, but it's the result of hard work,' said Calzada. 'He was playing a massive match and asked [us] to keep things aside until after the final, it was decided but not signed before the final, just because out of respect he asked us to wait, which is certainly fair enough.' Al-Hilal already had Inzaghi pledge epa12148236 Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi looks disappointed after receiving the runner-up medals of the UEFA Champions League final between Paris Saint-Germain and Internazionale Milano in Munich, Germany 31 May 2025. EPA-EFE/FILIP SINGER Inzaghi was still under contract with Inter until June 2026, but had been in advanced negotiations to sign an extension. Nerazzurri President Beppe Marotta certainly seemed to be blindsided, admitting the club found itself 'partly unprepared' for finding a new tactician in time for the 2025 Club World Cup. Advertisement Al-Hilal are also participating, so Inzaghi will get his debut on Wednesday against Real Madrid, kicking off at 20.00 UK time. MILAN, ITALY – MAY 18: Simone Inzaghi, Head Coach of FC Internazionale, looks on prior to the Serie A match between FC Internazionale and SS Lazio at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on May 18, 2025 in Milan, Italy. (Photo by) 'This season we came off second, that's below par for what is expected from us,' continued the Al-Hilal chief. 'And very simply what we expect from the new coach is that he helps us to win again and to re-establish our championship.' They will also be facing RB Salzburg and Pachuca in the Group H fixtures. 'We're not here to exchange shirts with Real Madrid players, or only for the exposure. We have a very talented squad, with the addition of a world-renowned new coach with us and with that we go to the tournament with the maximum ambition.'
